Blue Brusho Xmas cards in bulk – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn today again again at the Rubber Dance blog and I am up with another set of Christmas cards. This time with a strong blue background. For the cards I again used the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set and the Stars 1 stencil.

I created quite a big piece of background paper at once, so I could create a big batch of cards. Here is how I made the background:

First I took the Stars 1 stencil and transparent texture paste. I applied the paste with a palette knife onto the surface thru the stencil. Some areas are fully covered with stars, some only have bits here and there. Next I took out a white mixed media paper (a thicker one that takes wet medium well), applied water onto it and then dabbed some white and turquoise Brusho powder onto the wet paper. Then I just let the powder do it´s magic on the wet surface. If needed, I added some more blue / white on top to make sure all areas got treated.

After the surface was dry, I sprinkled some speckled embossing powder onto the surface and heated it first from under the paper (this prevents the powder from flying away/moving) and then applied heat from the top, until the powder had melted. Now all I needed to do, was to cut the paper into right size for my white card bases and I had several card backgrounds ready.

To these cards I added the stenciled and inked Xmas Trees 1 stencil outlined trees. Before outlining and fussy cutting the images, I treated the paper with Distress Oxide Inks and stamped patterns with Mix It Up 5 stamp set on top. then I only added a stamped and fussy cut sentiment (from Textured Xmas Trees 2 set) onto the card.

On this card I used the same stencil and stamps, but this time, outlined a piece of an old map book page to create a fun Christmas tree centerpiece. Also the first card is done in the same manner.

On this card the centerpiece is again stamped with the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set, but onto a piece of paper I brayered paint that was left over from a gelli printing session. The random stripes of color make the trees look really interesting.

On this card I´ve used the same basic idea, but the tree is stamped onto a gelli printed paper and then fussy cut.

This card is also done with the same basic idea, but mixing both gelli printed and brayered papers together for the centerpiece trees.

I love how the blue background is so strong in color and the embossing powder creates an illusion of falling snow. I hope my idea inspired you. Wishing you a lovely holiday season and many happy creative hours!

Mixed media background Christmas card – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn for a Rubber Dance project share today again. I am up with another Christmas card created with a mixed media background. For this card I used all the gelli printed paper bits I had left over from my previously shared Christmas cards. For details I used the Stars 1 stencil, the Mix It Up 5 stamp set and the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set.

Here is how I created the card:

I took a piece of printing paper and adhered the leftover gelli prints onto it first. Next I took some white texture paste and applied it onto the background thru the Stars 1 stencil with a palette knife.

Then I wiped some turquoise dimensional pearls here and there onto the background with a palette knife. After that I took some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and stamped random text images onto the background. The stamp I used was the Mit It Up 5 set.

Next I changed to a black stamp ink and added other stamped imaged to the background from the same stamp set. Then I applied some Gloss Spray splatters in pink and yellow for contrast and let them dry. Finally, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped a textured tree with black stamp ink onto it. I finished the card off with a stamped sentiment and adhered the tree with 3D foam onto the card.

This is not a typical Christmas card, but will be a perfect one for that one mixed media loving friend. Wishing you a lovely holiday season!

Christmas card with Rubber Dance stencils and stamps and recycled material

Hello everyone, it´s again my turn to share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog today and I am up with a stenciled Christmas card idea share this time. For this card I used the Xmas Trees 1 stencil and the Mix It Up 5 stamp set with some Distress Oxide ink. I also added some recycled material a a focal point for this card.

Here is how I created this card:

First I took an old map page and placed the Xmas Trees 1 stencil on it. Then I outlined the tree images with a waterproof black pencil onto the map page. Next I took a premade card base and applied some “speckled egg” Distress Oxide Ink onto a stamping block, misted that with water and pressed the ink very randomly onto the card base.

After that I took the Mix It Up 5 stamp set and stamped random text images with the same stamp ink onto the background. After that I fussy cut the “map trees” and adhered them slightly overlappingly onto the card base.

For finishing touches I added a stamped sentiment with “walnut stain” Distress Oxide ink and a sentiment from the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set. I really like how the card turned out with the “map trees” as a focal point.

I hope this stenciling idea inspires you to create fun, stenciled Christmas cards yourself too!

Art Journal page with stencils, Distress Oxide Inks and Textured Mushrooms 2

Hello everyone, it´s my turn to share another inspiration project over at Rubber Dance blog today again. This time I have a fun art journal page share with tutorial prepared for inspiration. I used Big Ovals, Textured Mushrooms 2 and Round in Circles on this page and I have a video tutorial up for steps and details.

For this art journal page I used the Gloss Spray painted mushrooms I had created for my previous post and hand plenty left over from. But first I started by creating a fun background with the Big Ovals stencil and Distress Oxide inks in orange and yellow tones. On top of that I have added Gloss Spray splatters in aloe, fuchsia and sand.

Next I´ve arranged the mushrooms in two circles into the middle of the page and added a Distress Oxide ink stamped circle image (from the Round In Circles set) into the very center of the page. Then I stamped some additional circles with brown stamp ink here and there to the background and finished the page off with some medieval Gloss Spray splatters and a fall themed quote.

I really like this stamp set so much – it was so much fun to create something in bright and happy fall colours into my art journal. I hope you get inspired to create too!

Slimline fall card with Textured Mushrooms 2 – Rubber Dance

Hello, I am up over at Rubber Dance blog with a fall themed card tutorial today. I absolutely adore the new Textured Mushrooms 2 stamp set and wanted to create a fun mixed media card featuring them.

Here is how I created the card:

I started off with a premade gelli printed background I had used the Organic 3 stencil on (see the video here). After that I applied Distress Oxide Inks thru Big Ovals (walnut stain ink), Lattice (speckled egg ink) and Scribbles 1 (hickory smoke ink) stencils to create even more layers to the background.

Next I took a premade paper I had inked with blue toned Distress Oxide Inks and Marks 3 stencil and added some abandoned coral, mustard seed and hickory smoke Distress Oxide Inks on top to then stamp some Textured Mushrooms 2 images onto the inked areas. I fussy cut the mushrooms, added details with a white gel pen and used them on the card.

Before adhering the background onto my slimline card base, I added some staping with black ink onto it with the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and on top of all the layers I then added some Gloss Spray droplets in turquoise and Magenta.

For finishing touches I adhered the fussy cut mushrooms to the card and chose two fun sentiments to go with them.

Layered, mixed media flower card with gelli background and stamps

Hello, this time I am up with a slimline mixed media flower card share over at the Rubber Dance blog. For this card I used a stenciled and gelli printed background paper that I created & used also on my previous projects (for example here). For the card I used the Loose Florals stamp set, as well as the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and the Round In Circles stamp set.

For the background gelli paper I used acrylic paints with Marks 2 stencil. You can find the video to that in the post linked above.

First I cut the gelli printed paper into right size to match my card base. Then I stamped with the Round In Circles stamp set stamp some circles on top of the gelli image with salvaged patina and spiced marmalade Distress Oxide Inks. After that I grabbed the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and black stamp ink and added some random stamping on top for additional interest and contrast.

After that I stamped some Loose Florals with black stamp ink onto white paper and colored them very loosely with watercolors and fussy cut them.

Finally I added some golden and silver ink droplets onto the fussy cut flowers as well as onto the background. Then I arrenged the flowers onto the card, added a chipboard sentiment and some half pearls for decor.

I had so much fun creating this card. It has quite a few layers again and happy, bold colors. I hope it makes it´s recipient happy and also inspired you to grab your stamp and stencil stash a play a little!!

ATC´s with Mix it Up 6 stamp set, stencils and Distress Oxide inks – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, I have an Artist Trading Card set up over at the Rubber Dance blog this time. I created these Artist Trading Cards with the Mix It Up 6 stamp set, Leaves #2 and Big Ovals stencil. As a background I used a gelli printed paper that I have used on a previous project (here).

The background paper, like mentioned above, is from my previous project and done using acrylic paints, a gelli plate and Cross It, as well as Marks 2 stencils. I used that paper as my starting point and added even more layers on top of it to create an interesting, artsy background for my ATC´s.

I started with the Leaves #2 stencil and cracked pistachio Distress Oxide ink by applying the ink thru the stencil randomly onto the background with a blending brush.

After that I took the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and the Big Ovals stencil and placed it on top of the paper. With ground expresso Distress Oxide I first added some stamped text thru the big ovals stencil onto the background. Then I outlined some of the stamped areas with a black pen thru the same stencil to make them stand out more from the background.

Next I stamped some wilted violet Distress Oxide toned splatters with the heart shaped stamp from the same stamp set and also some black numbers onto the background. After that I took the stamp image of the couple and stamped them with black stamp ink onto white paper and fussy cut them. In addition I added some ground expresso stamped words (hope) onto the background for more interest.

Finally I took some of the Mix A Sentiment 2023 stamp set words that I had left over from my previous projects and added them to go with the images. I also decorated the pages with a black pen outline and some fabric, vintage flowers and white gel pen hearts as well as some glitter enamel dots.

Art journal page with white space and fodder – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone! I am again up overe at the Rubber Dance blog today with an art journal page share. For this page I used the Sketchy Leaves stamp set as well as the Organic 3, Cross It and Marks 3 stencils with Distress Oxide Inks.

I started by inking the stencils with various blue and green tones of Distress Oxide Inks and then misted them lightly with water mist. After that I just pressed small areas onto the page to create a very light and almost fading image of stencil patterns.

Next I took some premade (see my previous project for details) Sketchy Leaves fodder and arranged them onto the page in clusters.

Then I added a Tim Holtz paper doll and fussy cut wings for it from my Grungy Butterflies fodder bits. For finishing touches I created a sentiment with Mix a Sentiment 2023 words and the page was done. I really enjoy using white space on this journal page with the clusters of fodder to draw the eye towards to.

Butterfly cards with mixed media backgrounds – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, it´s my turn today to share another fun project over at Rubber Dance blog. I made these cards with the Grungy Butterflies and some gelli printed paper with Marks 2 stencil and Weed Love stamping on top.

For both cards I used some of my previously made gelli printed background papers as a starting point. After cutting them into a right size I added stamping with Weed Love stamps and brown Distress Oxide Ink on top to create an even more layered and interesting background.

After that I used the clustered circle stamp from the Round in Circles stamp set to create an additional pattern to the card.

After that I selected some words from the Mix a Sentiment 2023 stamp set that I had used on a previous project and arranged the words into sentiments. I adhered the butterflies into the middle and the sentiment next to them. For finishing touches I added some glitter glue to the butterfly wings.

I still have plenty of words left, so I might use them it future projects. I really like this sentiment set, because you can build your own sentiments from the various words available in the set. And stamp them out once, fussy cut and they will go a really long way. I hope you got inspired to play with your stamps and stencils and create fun cards!!

Set of card with Mixed Sentiments and Marks 3 stencil with Distress Oxide Inks – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn again to share a set of mixed media cards (and a video tutorial) over at Rubber Dance blog today. For these cards I used the Mixed Sentiments, Mix A Sentiment 2023 and Sketchy Leaves stamp sets and the new Marks 3 stencil and here is how I created the cards:

I started by creating the DIY paper featured in the die cut circles. I always take a spare paper to add my brayer paint residues onto, when I am gelli printing. So I took one of those papers stamped the Mixed Sentiments with a brown Distress Oxide Ink repeatedly in a random order onto the paper.

Next I inked the Marks 3 stencil with 3 tones of blue Distress Oxide inks and misted the layer with a water spray bottle. Then I pressed the stencil onto a piece of white paper to create the pattern. You can use the same inked stencil at least twice, just add water mist and press again onto another paper. There will be variations on pattern and color strength, but that makes the backgrounds even more interesting. No of them will be the same.

After creating both the background and the DIY collage paper, I die cut the collage paper one with circle and flag die cut dies. Then I adhered the stenciled background paper onto white card bases, added the die cut pieces on top and decorated the cards with fussy cut Sketchy Leaves and a bunch of Mix a Sentiment 2023 words. There are lots of layers, but still all of the cards are very flat, so they will be easy to mail.
