Incredible Life mixed media card with Distress Oxide Inks and spray ink – Rubber Dance

Hello, today I have a slimine mixed media card and a process video share for you. I´ve used the Big Ovals and Sketchy Leaves 5 stencils and Butterflies and Moths, Doodle Flowers 2, Mixed Sentiments 1 and Mix It up 5 stamps for this card project.

I started by spraying the Big Ovals stencil with a green spray ink, then lifting it from the surface and pressing the wet stencil carefully onto the thick cardstock. I let it rest (and the ink soak in onto the paper) and next applied “mustard seed” Distress Oxide stamp ink thru the stencil onto the paper. After that I removed the stencil from the surface.

Next I took the Mix It Up 5 stamp set and stamped with the text pattern and grey stamp ink very randomly over the stenciled image, creating another layer. Then I took a golden brown spray ink and sprinkled some of it onto the surface. I let that layer dry, before moving to the next step.

As my next step I blended brown Distress Oxide Ink with a blending brush around the edges of the paper to frame the stenciled image. I then drew some faux stitching with a black pen around the edges to add some sharpness to the piece.

Finally, I gathered some collage fodder from my fodder stash (made with Skethcy Leaves 5 stencil and Brushos (video) and Distress Inks and Doodle Flowers 2 (video) as well as gelli plate and Butterflies and Moths (video). I arranged the images into a cluster of some sort and added a white sentiment strip to the card base. I used the Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp set with brown stamp ink for it. Before adhering the finished piece onto a white card base, I also added some white Gloss Spray splatters to the background for fun. I just cannot seem to create without splatters.

Here is the process video for you to watch:

I hope you get inspired by this idea and make some mixed media cards yourself!

“You Are” Art Journal page – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s Sanna here today with another Art Journal page share. For this project I used the Mix It Up 7 and the Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp sets with the Mini Marks 1 and the Sketchy Leaves 7 stencils on this journal page.

I started by applying the ground espresso Distress Paint randomly with a palette knife onto the page. Next I took some leftover collage paper bits and adhered them around the edges to the page. After that I applied layers of Distress Paint in antique linen, spun sugar and tumbled glass to the background. Some parts of the residue collage papers got cover with paint, some didn´t. After that I added some stamping using the Mix It Up 7 stamp set and grey and brown stamp inks and the number stamps.

As my next layer I added some stamped “punchinella” pattern with a light grey stamp ink and the Mix It Up 7 stamp set here and there. As my next step I used the Mini Marks 1 stencil and Distress Paint picket fence to add some stenciling to the page. My paint is a bit older and thicker already, so it works great as texture paste here.

As my focal point I used a previosly made Brusho leaf collage fodder piece (see video here) and for the sentiment I stamped and fussy cut a sentiment from the Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp set. For final touches and additional interest I also had to add a few droplets of Gloss Spray in cheddar.

Hope I could inspire you to play with Rubber Dance products in your own journal!

Collage paper birthday cards – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone! It´s Sanna here today with a set of gelli printed collage paper and fodder cards. For these cards I used the Wheels and Stars 1 stencils to create the background collage papers. For the focal points I used the Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil and the Organic 4 stencil. The sentiments are stamped with the Kartengrüße stamp set.

For the first card I used a collage paper I had made with acrylic paints and the Stars 1 stencil with my gelli plate. I then added some white texture paste I had tinted pink with neon acrylic paint thru the Organic 4 stencil onto the surface. I cut the paper in size and adhered it onto place. I then took the Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil and a piece of paint brayered paper and outlined the stencil image onto that paper. After fussy cutting I adhered it as my centerpiece to the card. I stamped the sentiment onto white paper which I had inked with pink ink to match the colors of the card. Some outlining with a black pen and some alcohol ink colored pearls for decor and the card was done.

For the second card I again used acrylic paints and a gel plate. This time with the Wheels stencil.

I created the leaf pattern the same way like on my first card, except I used another collage paper for this purpose. This time I added some rhinestones for sparkle and a fussy cut, on white paper stamped sentiment for detail.

I love using gelli printed collage papers! And I don´t mind if the prints don´t turn out perfect, but have just a hint of pattern on them. I find that makes them more artsy and interesting as a card background.

I hope I could inspire you to play with Rubber Dance stencils abit today!

Fly free – Art Journal page with Rubber Dance

Hello, I am here today with a page from my art journal. For this page I used the Organic 4, Sketchy Leaves 6 and Wheels stencils and plenty of stamps: Carved Collection 6, Mix It Up 6, Butterflies and Moths, Doodle Flowers 2 and from A to Z.

I started by placing the leaves and using them as masks with salvaged patina Distress Oxide Ink. I placed them onto the page and brushed the ink over them to the page repeatedly. After that I continued the background pattern with the Wheels stencil and the same ink tone, blending them into each other. Next I took the Organic 4 stencil and continued adding the same ink thru the stencil onto the page.

After finishing the inking, I took the iced spruce Distress Oxide Ink and stamped with Mix It Up 6 stamp set hand writing stamp over the white leaf areas very freely. Then I outlined the leaves with a black pen. This made them pop out of the background and I love the look it creates to the page. After that I used the number stamp from the same stamp set with aged mahogany Distress Oxide Ink to randomly stamp numbers next to the leaf patterns.

After that I took the peacock feathers Distress Oxide Ink tone and stamped a leaf pattern with the Carved Collection 6 stamp onto the page from top towards the bottom. I added golden pigment details with Gansai Tambi watercolors to them. Then I took some previously made leaf and collage fodder (see videos here and here) and added those on top of the stamped leaves overlappingly.

I also decorated the page with some yellow toned butterflies. These were also previously made collage fodder (with Butterflies and Moths stamp set) from my gelli printing sessions. For the text I used black ink and the word free from the Mix It Up 6 stamp set. The word fly is stamped with the A to Z set.

For finishing touches I also added some light written text stamping in the salvaged patina tone next to the pink flowers. It´s just a hue, but it adds some detail to the otherwise blank area. I also added some golden droplets and Gloss Spray in the tone blushing here and there.

For more details, here is the start-to-finish video for you to watch:

I really enjoy playing with stencils, creating collage fodder and then combining all these bits and pieces together in a project.

Happy crafting,

Layered art journal page – Rubber Dance

Hello, today I have an art journal page share for you. For this page I used the Doodle Flowers 2, Butterflies and Moths, Mix It Up 5, Mix It Up 7, Carved Collection 6, Stitching Borders and Mix It Up 4 stamp sets as well as Dotted 1 and Mini Textures 1 stencils.

I started by wiping residue ink from the Dotted 1 stencil onto the background and pressing another layer of residue brown ink from the Mini Textures 1 stencil around the first pattern. Next I grabbed some Neocolor II crayons and applied various yellow and light pink tones to the page. After that I grabbed a selection of pink, green, brown and turquoise Distress Oxide Inks and used the various stamps to add details and layers to the background.

I also painted some circles onto the page and filled those with golden pigment dots. Next I added contrast with a black stamp ink by adding stamped stars and numbers as well as stitching. I then clustered a few collage fodder pieces together (leaves and butterfly) and adhered those on place. I also had a few “diy vintage labels” left over, so I adhered a few onto the page. For finishing touches I added two sentiment stickers and created black areas with an acrylic marker and detailed those with a white gel pen.

This was a really fun one to make! Have you tried this idea of freely adding plenty of layers and seeing where the page takes you?

Rubber Dance – gelli printed collage paper tags

Hello everyone, I´m here today with a set of gelli printed collage paper tags. I´ve used the Leaves #2, Ornament 1, Dotted 1 and Organic 4 stencils to make the gelli printed collage papers. For the stamping and fodder I used the Stitching Borders, Collage Leaves 3 and Doodle Flowers 2 stamp sets.

I started by using a Gelli Arts mini printing square plate for creating the stenciled images as well as the stenciled and transfer image ones. After creating plenty of collage paper squares, I chose the ones that worked the best together and adhered those to tags. On top I then added a some stamping with black ink and the Stitching Border set. On top I then added some collage fodder leaves (made with Doodle Flowers 2 set). For finishing touches I added some stamped sentiments from the Collage Leaves 3 stamp set.

For dimension and interest I also adhered a few wood veneer pieces from my stash and added some ribbon to the tags.

On how to make those gelli printed papers, there are plenty of videos available on the interned. I made a few here too. Hope you get inspired to try out making your own collage papers with Rubber Dance stencils and a gel plate. Have fun!

Working with residue papers – Rubber Dance

Hello, today I´m sharing a card idea that started off from a piece of “waste” paper. I used the Doodle Flowers 2 and the Stitching Borders stamp sets with the Ornament 1 stencil to create this card.

I´ve also “hidden” some light stamping with Distress Oxide Inks and Mix It Up 7 and Mix It Up 5 stamp sets onto the background. This card started with a “waste paper” I brayered gelli printing residue ink onto. I also cleaned my used stencil with a baby wipe thru the Ornament 1 stencil onto this piece of paper. That way the beginning for this backgroud had started by accident in a way.

After cleaning my table I noticed how nice the paper looked like and decided to use it as a card background. I then went and used the Mix It Up 5 stamp set iwth various light Distress Oxide Ink colours to add details to the white areas. After that I grabbed some collage fodder flowers from my stash, added one to the card as a focal point and stamped the sentiment with Kartengrüße stamp set. For finishing touches I added the faux stitching with black ink and some glitter glue to the flower for detail.

I love to use this type of papers as a starting point and give them a new life as a card background, for example. I think this one turned out pretty nice. Have you tried this idea?

Full Deck Challenge 2025 – finished deck cards video flip-thru

Hello and happy Monday! And just like that a full year has passed and with it, 52 deck cards got altered. Here is a flip-thru video of all the cards I altered during 2025:

It was a very good challenge to do – not too much time pressure. I even managed to make short videos of every process. And because it´s a small project, it is not overwhelming.

I haven´t yet decided, if I am going to play again this year. Still got some time to think it over :). Are you going to join in ?

Summer Dreams Art Journal page – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone! I am up over at the Rubber Dance blog today with this art journal page share. I used the Stacked Ovals stencil, the Carved Collection 6, the A to Z and the Mix It up 4 stamp sets for this journal page. I also incorporated collage fodder bits made with Doodle Flowers 2 stamp set and Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil.

Here is how I created the page:

I started with Stacked Ovals ad Distress Oxide Ink in picked raspberry. I inked the stencil with the ink pad and then misted it with water. After that I pressed the stencil onto the journal page. I repeated this step until the page was fully covered.

Then I took Distress Oxide Ink in antique linen and salvaged patina, placed the stencil on top of the previously created image and inked the empty areas with both inks. This created a very interesting background to start with.

After that I grabbed the Mix It Up 4 stamp set and the scallop border stamp and stamped the border along the center of the page. Next I used a black pen to outline the scallops and add a little contrast.

Then I stamped some stars with black ink onto the page, added a collage paper piece and various colors of yarn on top. Next I decorated the paper strip with collage fodder I had made using the Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil and Doodle Flowers 2 stamp set (see video here and here).

After that I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped letters with A to Z stamp set onto it. I then fussy cut the letters and adhered those to the journal as my title. I also sneaked a flower onto the paper (see the video how to make those here). I felt like the page needed some more structure, so I stamped the black line with a flower stemp stamp from the Carved Collection 6 stamp set and added a scallop border underneath (from the Mix It Up 4 set).

I am totally in love with the Stecked Ovals stencil – the backgroud was so much fun to make! I hope you give this idea a try.

Happy creating,
xx, Sanna

Full Deck Challenge 33/2025 – song lyrics

Hello, this is my take on the ShanoukiArt Full Deck Challenge 33/2025 – song lyrics.

I started by taking a gelli printed paper (used this Rubber Dance stamp for it) and wrote some lines from Derik Fein´s “Sun” onto paper with my old typewriter.

I then adhered the paper onto the lightly sanded playing card and added a carry-over-item from my previous deck card to it: a piece of old book paper. Next to that I adhered a piece of collage paper gifted to me by Yuna from Australia. After that I added my constant – the date stamp – onto the book paper part. I didn´t want to cover all the song lyrics, therefore I kept the background simple and just added some collage fodder and a sentiment on top this time. The collage fodder is made with this Rubber Dance stamp and this stencil. The sentiment was done using this stamp set. You can see how I go about creating these collage pieces, if you watch my Rubber Dance playlist on YouTube :).

See you next week with another FDC take! Until then, happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna
