Layered, mixed media flower card with gelli background and stamps

Hello, this time I am up with a slimline mixed media flower card share over at the Rubber Dance blog. For this card I used a stenciled and gelli printed background paper that I created & used also on my previous projects (for example here). For the card I used the Loose Florals stamp set, as well as the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and the Round In Circles stamp set.

For the background gelli paper I used acrylic paints with Marks 2 stencil. You can find the video to that in the post linked above.

First I cut the gelli printed paper into right size to match my card base. Then I stamped with the Round In Circles stamp set stamp some circles on top of the gelli image with salvaged patina and spiced marmalade Distress Oxide Inks. After that I grabbed the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and black stamp ink and added some random stamping on top for additional interest and contrast.

After that I stamped some Loose Florals with black stamp ink onto white paper and colored them very loosely with watercolors and fussy cut them.

Finally I added some golden and silver ink droplets onto the fussy cut flowers as well as onto the background. Then I arrenged the flowers onto the card, added a chipboard sentiment and some half pearls for decor.

I had so much fun creating this card. It has quite a few layers again and happy, bold colors. I hope it makes it´s recipient happy and also inspired you to grab your stamp and stencil stash a play a little!!

Butterfly cards with mixed media backgrounds – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, it´s my turn today to share another fun project over at Rubber Dance blog. I made these cards with the Grungy Butterflies and some gelli printed paper with Marks 2 stencil and Weed Love stamping on top.

For both cards I used some of my previously made gelli printed background papers as a starting point. After cutting them into a right size I added stamping with Weed Love stamps and brown Distress Oxide Ink on top to create an even more layered and interesting background.

After that I used the clustered circle stamp from the Round in Circles stamp set to create an additional pattern to the card.

After that I selected some words from the Mix a Sentiment 2023 stamp set that I had used on a previous project and arranged the words into sentiments. I adhered the butterflies into the middle and the sentiment next to them. For finishing touches I added some glitter glue to the butterfly wings.

I still have plenty of words left, so I might use them it future projects. I really like this sentiment set, because you can build your own sentiments from the various words available in the set. And stamp them out once, fussy cut and they will go a really long way. I hope you got inspired to play with your stamps and stencils and create fun cards!!

Slimline birthday card with watercolors and stamps – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s again my turn to share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog today. I created a fun slimline birthday card using watercolors and the Sketchy Flowers stamp set and it turned out very colorful. Here is how I did it:

I first painted “rectangles” with a paint brush and watercolors in rainbow colors onto a slimline card base, let that layer dry and then repeatedly added a black flower stamped image on top onto the whole surface.

Next I painted the flower petals in golden tones and when that layer was dry, I added black watercolor droplets on top of the two layers.

For finishing touches I added some blue details with a blue Posca pen around the edges of the flower petals. After that I just added a chipboard sentiment and the card was done. It´s bold and colorful and still not bulky, so it will be relatively easy to mail.

I hope you get inspired to play with your stamps and watercolors to create funky and bold colored cards.

Clean and simple stenciled cards with Distress Inks – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, it´s again my turn ot share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog and I am up with a set of clean and simple cards and a photo tutorial today.
For these cards I used the Sketchy Leaves stamp set – which I absolutely adore – and the gorgeous Organic 3 stencil with Distress Oxide Inks.

Here is how I created these cards:

First I took a white card base, then placed the Organic 3 stencil on top and applied Distress Oxide Ink with a blending brush thru the stencil onto the card base. I used cracked pistachio, speckled egg and peacock feathers tones for my cards.

After finishing the stenciled background, I took the Sketchy Leaves stamp set out and stamped leaf images on top of the stenciling. I combined two of the leaf images to create a leaf branch like piece.

Next I stamped sentiments from the Sketchy Flowers 3 stamp set onto the card base with the same black stamp ink.

After stamping the sentiments, I wanted to add a tiny bit of additional detail, so I painted some of the areas on the leaves with golden pigments.

That´s all there is to these cards. Did you notice that all the layers are built directly onto the card base? That way these cards are not very heavy and easy to sent off in an envelope.

Slimline wedding card with Sketchy Flowers vellum background – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, it´s my turn to share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog today again and I am up with another card idea share. I needed a wedding card for a green colour themed wedding and came up with this idea. I used Sketchy Flowers #3 stamp for this slimline card´s vellum part.

Here is how I created the card:

I first cut the vellum into the size of my slimline card base with a paper trimmer, then stamped the images with embossing ink and white embossing powder around the edges of the vellum piece. Next I flipped the embossed vellum upside down and used alcohol markers to color the flowers and the leaves.

Then I took a green patterned paper, cut that into size and adhered it onto the card base. After that I added a layer of tulle on top of the green patterned paper and fussy cut the vellum piece so, that I could place a paper doll in the middle. For finishing touches I added some chipboard hears and vintage ribbons and a paper flower to go with the vintage wedding couple image.

Mixed media tag set with water mist stamped flower background

Hello everyone, here is another Rubber Dance Art Stamp product inspiration post with a fun step-by-step tag tutorial for today. For these tags I used the “Sketchy Flowers 3” stamp set to create the fun background details and added all kinds of leftover bits from my previous projects to go with them.

Here is how I created the tags:

First I applied Distress Oxide Ink (fossilized amber) with a blending brush onto white tags. Next I attached a flower stamp from the “Sketchy Flowers 3” stamp set onto an acrylic block and gave it a light water mist. Then I pressed the stamp image into the inked areas and repeated the step until I had enough “water stamped images” on the background.

Next I took out some leftover papers (all from my previous projects shared here on the blog), plus a misted blue music note paper to which I had added some texture paste thru the “Marks 2” stencil. I first fussy cut those papers into size and preferred patterns, then added leftover “Doodle Flowers” on top and adhered the pieces on place. After that I added purple watercolor droplets onto the tags, chose matching ribbons and added some chipboard pieces to finish the tags.

I hope to have inspired you a little to use all leftover pieces for fun smaller projects, so nothing goes to waste! Have fun!

Grungy Butterfly ATC´s with stencils, stamps and Distress Inks – Rubber Dance

Hello, I am again up over at the Rubber Dance blog with an Artist Trading Card tutorial share. I created these ATC´s with various sets of Rubber Dance stamps and stencils.

For these Artist Trading Cards I used a music note paper (if you don´t have one, you can stamp your own using the Rubber Dance “Music” stamp) on the background. On that I applied Distress Paint thru the Organic #3 stencil and then added a slightly darker tone of watercolor on top. After that I took a brown and mahogany tone of Distress Oxide ink and applied those onto the background for additional detail thru the “Marks 2” stencil. I sewed the paper onto a sturdy background with my sewing machine and then stamped some images with black ink and the “Sketchy Leaves” on the papers.

After that I added some golden watercolor pigment details to the stamped leaves and some red watercolor splatters onto the background for additional detail. On top of that I used some of my previously made “Grungy Butterflies” fodder pieces and a piece of misted canvas and sentiment stickers to finish the ATC´s.

Card set with mixed media cutouts – kreativt_uttrykk

Hello again! Here is yet another set of card that I created using the mixed media cutouts by kreativt_uttrykk.

And now to the cards I made:

For this one I used a STAMPlorations stencil with Distress Oxide Ink to create the faded background pattern. On top of that I added the house and “tree” cutout and colored some of the parts with Posca pens. For finishing touches I added a sentiment I typed with my old typewriter.

For the second one I used similar techniques, except I also added a leftover 7DotsStudio paper a “frame” to the house and stenciled background. The rest is again decorated with Posca pens and a typewriter sentiment.

I love the houses on this set, as you might have noticed :).

Fodder cards with a gelli print background and Sketchy Leaves

Hi, it´s again my turn to share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog with two Sketchy Leaves fodder cards. The backround on these cards is created with a gelli plate, acrylic paints and “Marks 2” as well as “Cross it” stencils in pastel tones. I created a few different gelli printed papers at once and used the one with some white space on it as a background for these cards. In my opinion, this adds lots of interest to the card, when the background is irregular in pattern.

I also created plenty of fodder with the Sketchy Leaves stamp and Distess Oxide inks at once and used some of them on these cards as a focal point. There are videos on the gelli printing, the fodder making and the step-by-step of the card creating process at the end of this post.

On the gelli printing video I am also using the “Organic #3″ stencil and I make several prints at once, because I will be using these prints on my future projects, too. Some prints are not perfect, but I don´t mind that. I am just going to pick the parts I like and use those later.

After creating the background papers with the stencils I then created plenty of fodder with Distress Oxide inks and the “Sketchy Leaves” stamp set. Here is a video on how I did that:

Cards with Doodle Flowers with a twist – Rubber Dance

Hello lovelies! I am up over at the Rubber Dance blog today with two mixed media cards using the Doodle Flowers stamps with a little twist. This is one of my first Rubber Dance stamp sets that I absolutely fell in love with. I wanted to use the flowers in a different way and created pink toned “skirts” for the paper dolls with them. For these cards I used the Doodle Flowers stamps with pink toned Distress Inks and Marks 2 and Cross It stencils with Distress Oxide Inks. You will find a video tutorial at the bottom of this post.

Unfortunately the Doodle Flowers in the Clear Version are almost sold out, but they are still be available as a rubber stamp set. It’s linked at the bottom of this post. And I’m sure they will be a follow-up clear stamps set in the future, with some brand new flowers 😉 !!!

Here is how I created the cards: I first added two pink Distress Ink tones onto a craft sheet and sprayed them with water. Then I wiped the paper onto the wet ink. After the paper was dry I stamped several images of Doodle Flowers onto the paper and fussy cut them (only the flower buds). Next I took an old music note sheet (if you don’t have music paper you can also use the Rubber Dance music stamp to make some on your own), misted it with light blue and green spray ink and after that added stencil marks with grey, green and blue toned Distress Oxide Inks and a blending brush onto the music sheet.

Next I cut the stenciled backgroud paper into a right size, adhered it onto a card base and then took a paper doll and added that as a centerpiece to the card with a skirt arranged from the fussy cut Doodle Flowers stamp images. Finally, I typed a sentiment with my old typewriter and adhered it onto each card. If you don’t own a typerwriter, you might like the Rubber Dance Mix A Sentiment stamp set!
