Working with residue papers – Rubber Dance

Hello, today I´m sharing a card idea that started off from a piece of “waste” paper. I used the Doodle Flowers 2 and the Stitching Borders stamp sets with the Ornament 1 stencil to create this card.

I´ve also “hidden” some light stamping with Distress Oxide Inks and Mix It Up 7 and Mix It Up 5 stamp sets onto the background. This card started with a “waste paper” I brayered gelli printing residue ink onto. I also cleaned my used stencil with a baby wipe thru the Ornament 1 stencil onto this piece of paper. That way the beginning for this backgroud had started by accident in a way.

After cleaning my table I noticed how nice the paper looked like and decided to use it as a card background. I then went and used the Mix It Up 5 stamp set iwth various light Distress Oxide Ink colours to add details to the white areas. After that I grabbed some collage fodder flowers from my stash, added one to the card as a focal point and stamped the sentiment with Kartengrüße stamp set. For finishing touches I added the faux stitching with black ink and some glitter glue to the flower for detail.

I love to use this type of papers as a starting point and give them a new life as a card background, for example. I think this one turned out pretty nice. Have you tried this idea?

Cards with fodder clusters and oval backgrounds – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn to share a project over at Rubber Dance blog today. I love the Rubber Dance ovals stencil line! So I played around with them (Big Ovals and Stacked Ovals) and created fun oval background cards with a big collage fodder cluster as a focal point.

For the bright colored card I used a gelli print created earlier this year. It creates a beautiful, happy and bright backdrop for the cluster of flowers, leaves and butterflies. I also added some rhinstones and a fussy cut sentiment to the card for finishing touches.

I always create collage fodder in bulk, so that I have plenty of options to add to my cards and other projects along the way. The tutorials to these fodder pieces can be found here, here and here.

For the second card in more muted colors. I used the new Stacked Ovals stencil directly on the background with “scattered straw” Distress Ink.

I again attached the stencil to the card and my working surface with washi tape. You can also use painters tape. This way the stencil will stay put while applying ink. I like washi, because it´s very easy and safe to remove afterwords – nothing tears while removing it.

For this cluster I again used collage fodder I had previously made in bulk. Except for the old book paper circle. That I created using the Butterflies and Moths stamp set and black ink just for this card. It adds a nice vintage feel to the cluster.

I really like using stencils on my cards. They can add so much to a project. Just imagine these fodder clusters without the backgrounds.

Shimmer Powder Background with Loose Florals 2024 card set – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, I am up over at Rubber Dance blog today with a set of cards created using the Loose Florals 2024 stamp set with embossing powder and Shimmer Powders. I created a fun background with those for the collage fodder cluster decorated cards.

I love creating my own “patterned paper” backgrounds for cards and other projects. This is one way of doing that: getting a stamp set out, some white embossing powder and two tones of Shimmer Powder. Letting the color spread on it´s own on paper creates interesting color concentrations and shades and makes every background unique.

After creating the background, I cut it into a right size and adhered it onto a white card base. For decoration I didn´t want to add too much, so I went with a flower cluster from DIY collage fodder pieces I made recently. You can watch the videos on those here, here and here.
