Residue gelli printing paper as card focal point – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn for a project share over at Rubber Dance blog today. I am up with a fun card project, created using residue gelli printing paper that I turned into card focal points. For this project I used the Dotted 1 and Organic 4 stencils and Mix It Up 4 as well as Butterflies and Moths stamp sets.

When gelli printing, I always take a sheet or two of paper to brayer the residue paint and/or lift paint from the gel plate on to. So sometimes these paper sheets are full of paint layers and I figured, I could upcycle them and make something fun of them.

I first took some die cut dies out and die cut the paper sheets into smaller pieces (circles, banners etc.). Next I took out the Dotted 1 and Organic 4 stencils and added some white and golden heat embossing powder areas to the die cut papers. Next I mixed white modeling paste with magenta acrylic paint together and applied the paste thru the Dotted 1 stencil onto the die cut pieces.

After that I took the Mix It Up 4 stamp set and added stamped details with black and light grey stamping ink to the pieces. After that ink and tinted modeling paste was dry, I added some Gloss Spray details in yellow, turquoise and fuchsia on top.

Now all I needed to do, was to stamp some details to the white card bases with Distress Oxide Inks and the Mix It Up 4 stamp set. I chose lighter colors as a contrast to the bold focal point pieces here. I then adhered the die cut focal point pieces with 3D foam tape onto the card bases, added some Butterflies and Moths fodder to go with them and chose a sticker sentiment to each card. For finishing touches I added a few Gloss Spray droplets alongside the card sentiments for additional interest.

Layered and Distress Ink stenciled butterfly card – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, it´s again my turn to share a project over at Rubber Dance blog today and I am up with a video tutorial to a heavily stenciled and lightly layered butterfly card. For this card I used the Stars 1 and Lattice stencils as well as the Mix It Up 5 stamp set. I also used the Butterflies and Moths fodder I had created for my last share.

I used a gelli printed background paper on the card. I created that one using the Mix It Up 4 stamp set with my gel plate. You can find videos around gelli prints with Rubber Dance stencils and stamps here.

I wanted to keep the colors on the card very light and matching. I therefore added stenciling with pumice stone & tumbled glas tones. They go very well with the background and don´t create a contrast too strong.

After stenciling, I added some stamping in same colors to the papers to create more interest and details. The edges of the paper are distressed and inked and the die cut flag is adhered to the paper with 3D foam for more depth.

I´ve also used Gloss Sprays to add splatters to the paper layers. I am a big fan of splatters. I think they add a fun element to projects. For finishing touches I added the gelli printed and stamped butterfly fodder (made using the Butterflies and Moths stamp set), a Tim Holtz sentiment sticker and some very old wood veneer stars. The black splatters are done with a wet brush and a watercolor crayon.

I also can not resist a little bit of glitter here and there sometimes. So the bodies of the butterflies got a little coat of Stickles in the end. I hope you like the idea and try it out yourself! Happy crafting,

AJ page with Distress Inks and glitter pens – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone! It´s again time for another Rubber Dance project share. I am up with a life quote themed art journal page share today. For this page I used the Wheels stencil, Loose Florals 2024, Mix It Up 6 and Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp sets.

I started by pressing misted Distress Ink (picked raspberry) with an acrylic block directly onto the background. Next I took the Wheels stencil and applied candied apple Distress Ink thru the stencil onto the background. I then grabbed the Mix It Up 6 stamp set script stamp and added stamping to the background with a light gray stamp ink.

After that I stamped the flowers with the Loose Florals 2024 stamp set onto white paper and colored them with alcohol markers and glitter pens. Then I stamped the leaves, using the same stamp set, onto blue paper and added some glitter pen details onto them. I also added some Gloss Spray splatters in turquoise onto the background for interest. I then adhered the leaves, the black and white stamped couple and the flowers onto the page.

After that I wanted to add a quote to the page and found a suitable one. I partly stamped the words – using the stamps from the Mix It Up 6 set – and wrote the rest by hand. I finished the quote with a stamped sentiment from Mixed Sentiments 1 set at the very bottom. I still felt like the page needed some more details, so I stamped the black splodges using the Grungy Butterflies stamp set and also added some stamped grey numbers here and there. This stamp is part of the Mix It Up 6 stamp set.

Full Deck Challenge 2025 – 3 “yellow”

Hello! I decided to join the 2025 Full Deck Challenge. It´s been called to life by ShanoukiArt and this years theme is a collage on a deck of playing cards (or similar). A deck card a week with a different “theme”.

Here are some “rules”: one should do a continuous thing, like for example adding postal stamps (like she does) to every deck card to have something on them that binds them together. I choose to add a date stamp on every deck card. In addition one should take a bit of something from the previously done deck card material and use that on the next one too.

There is a Facebook group (look for Full Deck Challenge Group) to join for sharing one´s creations and also her YouTube channel to the weekly challenge.

It sounded so much fun that I decided to join. At least I´ll try. Here is my take for deck card 3 with the theme “YELLOW”:

Yellow is one of my favorite colors! I used the yellow parts from the gelli printed paper I used on the previous deck cards, then added again some paper bits gifted me by Yuna again. Some yellow washi tape, some Dina Wakley heavy body paint in yellow and velvet ribbon, a chipboard piece, a date stamp and a stamped butterfly (like on the previous deck card). And some glitter glue. Oh, and the Rubber Dance stamp stamped word again, too.

Mixed media tag set – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, I am up over at Rubber Dance blog today with a tag set featuring gelli printed fodder elements. For these tags I used the Butterflies and Moths, Mix A Sentiment 2023 and Loose Florals 2024 stamp sets.

Here is how I created the tags:

I first started by stamping brown Distress Oxide Ink with the Mix A Sentiment 2023 stamp set onto the kraft tags. Next I took black stamp ink and the leaves from the Loose Florals 2024 stamp set and stamped black leaf images onto the tags.

Then I colored the leaf images with glitter brush pens and added some gelli printed strips to the bottom of the tags with some old book page pieces. For the gelli print piece I used the same Loose Florals 2024 stamp set.

After that I added some white gel pen circles to the background for interest and adhered some butterfly fodder and ribbon to the tags.

For finishing touches I added some liquid pearls to the butterflies and attached sticker sentiments to each tag.

Here is also a quick step-by-step to how the butterfly fodder was done:

First create a colorful gelli print. I used three tones of paint and “drew” random scribbles to the paint. Next I stamped “Butterflies and Moths 2024” with black stamp ink onto the gelli print. After that I fussy cut all the images. This way I have plenty of fodder ready for my next projects.

Creating the fodder and tags was so much fun. I hope you give it a try! While at it, make sure to try out different color combinations and patterns. This way you have plenty of material to work with for future projects.

Flower canvas

Hello everyone and happy 2025!!! I am posting this project now to make sure the recipient has received it before this going live.

I painted a rose canvas for a relative for Christmas. She loves flowers, so this hopefully is/was a prefect gift for her.

I used acrylic paints, some Posca pens and a gilding fluid to create this canvas. I have done smaller versions of these flowers into journals before, but this was the first canvas I filled with roses.

Here´s to a good start into 2025 – may it be awesome, joyous, exciting and all kinds of positive to everyone. I wish that from the bottom of my heart!

Lucky You – cards

Hello, today I´m sharing the last cards of this year. Just two mushroom cards I created with my final bits of Gloss Sprays and the Textured Mushrooms 2 stamp set.

For these cards I just grabbed a green paper onto which I had applied some texture paste thru the Marks 2 Rubber Stamps stencil. On top some neon colored droplets and a cluster of mushrooms and a stamped sentiment. The “Lucky You” text in German is hand written and some gloss spray droplets accompany it.

I created two of these cards, using the same basic idea on both. Wishing you all a good last day of 2024!!! And all the best for the next year to come. Lot´s of health, happiness and creative fun!! See you on the other side!

Inspirational cards for the New Year with positive and negative stencil images

Hello, it´s my turn again today over at Rubber Dance blog and I am up with a set of motivational/inspirational cards for the new year, created using positive and negative stencil images. For the cards I used the Textured Mushrooms 2 stamp set with the Wheels and the Leaves 2 stencil.

Here is how I created these cards:

I first took a white card base and added Distress Oxide Ink in blue tones thru the Leaves 2 stencil onto it. For my second background I then took the already inked stencil, spritzed it with water and pressed the wet image onto another piece of white paper and let that dry.

You can see both backgrounds here on the above cards. For centerpiece I used leftover pieces from my previous projects, like the leaf images, the Gloss Spray mushrooms and the circle image. The sentiment are created with the Mix A Sentiment 2023 stamp set. I stamped the images on white paper, then fussy cut every word and arranged different sentiments with the words.

For the second set of cards with orange and red toned backgrounds, I did the same, except I inked a piece of white mixed media paper, then spritzed the Wheels stencil again with water and made a negative image with the leftover ink. In fact, the inked stencil image can be used several times, until the stencil has no ink/color left.

For these cards I used the basic idea, like on the blue cards. If the card recipient loves strong color combinations, then you can give them the positive image card and if not, go for the lighter, negative stencil image background.

Since the Sketchy Leaves stamp is sold out due to popular demand, I will link an alternative product for you. Basically any leftover images can be used as centerpieces here. Just cluster them and add an interesting sentiment and your inspirational mixed media cards are done.

Blue Brusho Xmas cards in bulk – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn today again again at the Rubber Dance blog and I am up with another set of Christmas cards. This time with a strong blue background. For the cards I again used the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set and the Stars 1 stencil.

I created quite a big piece of background paper at once, so I could create a big batch of cards. Here is how I made the background:

First I took the Stars 1 stencil and transparent texture paste. I applied the paste with a palette knife onto the surface thru the stencil. Some areas are fully covered with stars, some only have bits here and there. Next I took out a white mixed media paper (a thicker one that takes wet medium well), applied water onto it and then dabbed some white and turquoise Brusho powder onto the wet paper. Then I just let the powder do it´s magic on the wet surface. If needed, I added some more blue / white on top to make sure all areas got treated.

After the surface was dry, I sprinkled some speckled embossing powder onto the surface and heated it first from under the paper (this prevents the powder from flying away/moving) and then applied heat from the top, until the powder had melted. Now all I needed to do, was to cut the paper into right size for my white card bases and I had several card backgrounds ready.

To these cards I added the stenciled and inked Xmas Trees 1 stencil outlined trees. Before outlining and fussy cutting the images, I treated the paper with Distress Oxide Inks and stamped patterns with Mix It Up 5 stamp set on top. then I only added a stamped and fussy cut sentiment (from Textured Xmas Trees 2 set) onto the card.

On this card I used the same stencil and stamps, but this time, outlined a piece of an old map book page to create a fun Christmas tree centerpiece. Also the first card is done in the same manner.

On this card the centerpiece is again stamped with the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set, but onto a piece of paper I brayered paint that was left over from a gelli printing session. The random stripes of color make the trees look really interesting.

On this card I´ve used the same basic idea, but the tree is stamped onto a gelli printed paper and then fussy cut.

This card is also done with the same basic idea, but mixing both gelli printed and brayered papers together for the centerpiece trees.

I love how the blue background is so strong in color and the embossing powder creates an illusion of falling snow. I hope my idea inspired you. Wishing you a lovely holiday season and many happy creative hours!

Mixed media background Christmas card – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn for a Rubber Dance project share today again. I am up with another Christmas card created with a mixed media background. For this card I used all the gelli printed paper bits I had left over from my previously shared Christmas cards. For details I used the Stars 1 stencil, the Mix It Up 5 stamp set and the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set.

Here is how I created the card:

I took a piece of printing paper and adhered the leftover gelli prints onto it first. Next I took some white texture paste and applied it onto the background thru the Stars 1 stencil with a palette knife.

Then I wiped some turquoise dimensional pearls here and there onto the background with a palette knife. After that I took some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and stamped random text images onto the background. The stamp I used was the Mit It Up 5 set.

Next I changed to a black stamp ink and added other stamped imaged to the background from the same stamp set. Then I applied some Gloss Spray splatters in pink and yellow for contrast and let them dry. Finally, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped a textured tree with black stamp ink onto it. I finished the card off with a stamped sentiment and adhered the tree with 3D foam onto the card.

This is not a typical Christmas card, but will be a perfect one for that one mixed media loving friend. Wishing you a lovely holiday season!
