Stay warm

Hello there everyone, today I´m just quickly dropping by to share a wintery card with you. I did my first ever mirror image stamping on this card, using the Misti-tool (there are plenty of videos on YouTube how to do this technique). The stamping part actually was not that hard to create – the coloring is the part I am not very talented at…LOL…

But since these birdies are SUPPOSED to look like they are freezing, I actually can live with the end result. Inside is a funny “stay warm” stamped sentiment. I think it fits the card theme perfectly.

Sometimes it feels good to do something different – even though the end result is FAR away from the result I aimed for. Oh well, it was still fun :). Want to see how I create my mirror images with the Misti? Here goes:

So many of my smiles – MMCC November challenge Vol. 2

Hello lovelies, today I´m sharing my second take on the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog´s November challenge. This months theme is:

And my second take looks like this:

I have used a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil as a doodling guide and created an arrow pattern (one of the challenge requirements :-)..) to the background of my card. After that I went and colored the arrows with markers and highlighted some of them with a little glitter glue.

The sentiment I first stamped with VersaMark ink, then added a turquoise embossing powder over the stamped area and heat set it. Next I sprayed some lighter and darker orange Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist over the embossed area and around it, fussy cut the sentiment, outlined it and adhered the sentiment onto the card base. Even though the card looks very clean&simple, it actually has a few techniques and medias going on there :-).

Hope you will join us on this months challenge – just follow this link to do so!

Life is an adventure – Mixed Media Card Challenge Vol. 1, October

Hello there, lovelies! A bit late, but still 1st of October tonight and therefore time for the new Mixed Media Card Challenge for October!! This time it´s all about vintage. As optional aelement you can add a key.

I am not very good at vintage. So I went and googled the word vintage and found a definition for it that I could live with. In fashion you could call old jeans “vintage” so I figured, I could use older product to create a “vintage” card. And this is what I came up with:

Those velvet ribbon flowers for me represent vintage in a way. Also the old fashioned stamp images of keys, locks and swirls are kind of old looking too :).

Also a little bit about how I created the card: I first applied/wiped a layer of Distress Stain onto the background to create a kind of “faux watercolour” background. After that I went along and stamped the stamp images in two tones of browns over the blue layer. Next I hand drew (very freely) some lines with a golden glitter glue to create a “net” over the previous layers and finally I also added some blue and white inks splatters here and there.

For decoration I chose an old Basic Grey sticker, doodled with copper glitter glue around it and then added the flowers. The sentiment stamp is by Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday and I cut it in half.

Now it is your turn to create a vintage card for this challenge!! We are very eager to see what you come up with!! See you at MMCC :),

Special b-day ! – Wycinanka scrap & decou

Hello there! Today I´d like to share with you a fast and easy card idea. For this card I have used some chipboard elements and stamps from Wycinanka scrap & decou.

I first used Distress Inks with water to create the background stripe pattern. More details on how you can create that over at this post. After that I just added a star banner using this Wycinanka stamp with a black dye ink.

When the background was done, all I needed to do was to add a sentiment and some decorational elements. I used the chevron chipboard elements and treated them with golden glitter glue. I also added s black sentiment on the front which I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Inside the card there is an additional sentiment, made with Wycinanka alpha chipboard pieces.

I hope you have enjoyed this easy card idea and give it a try yourself.
Happy crafting,
xoxo, Sanna
