Beautiful moments card set

Hello everyone and happy Monday! I have not been feeling my mojo lately, thus the absence/pause here on my blog. Also, I had been on holiday. No, we didn´t travel far, but stayed in the country and tried to plan our few days stay-away-from-home-but-stay-safe type of vacation as safe as we could. I´ll be sharing a photo-heavy post about that some time this week. Be sure to come and read it, it´s something very special, at least if you ask me :).

But now to today´s project share:

It´s a mixed media style card set of two cards. I created the banner pieces following one of Tim Holtz´s tutorials/lives on Facebook a while back. And ever since I have been looking for a perfect spot for these banners. Finally I realised they´d make for great cards!

For both cards I applied texture paste thru a stencil (my own line at STAMPlorations) and then colored the paste parts with Distress Crayons. After that I added some stamping with Elizabeth Craft Designs stamps.

I will be sharing more card projects on my blog throughout this week (plus our special travel story), so do stop by later this week to see what I´ve been upto.

Happy crafting,

A set of DWM tags

Hello and happy Friday! Today I´m stopping by with another tag share. These, again are created with plenty of Dina Wakley Media product. I am so enjoying this at the moment!

These are again done using plenty of gloss sprays, but also Dina´s heavy body paints as well as her collage collective book, her washi and tissue paper. The stencils on the right tag are all by The Crafter´s Workshop and the little words are handmade by my friend Lizzy. I adore them!

This background is pressed on splots of gloss sprays. Repeatedly. After the spray was dry, I attached the tissue paper image with gel medium and colored the face with Distress Crayons by Tim Holtz. The word is by my friend Lizzy and the red circle is from Dina´s collage collective book.

For this tag I was simply dabbing residue paint thru a stencil. Both paints by Dina. Then I sprayed the gorgeous lemon gloss spray on top. Let that layer dry and added the fussy cut circles from Dina´s collage collective book. Then some washi, the handmade word and some journaling.

I really like how these tags turned out. I might keep them as they are and even frame them OR I´ll add them to a journal page later. Time will tell.

I´m hoping the next weeks will be better, weather wise, because I am on vacation. Ha! So funny, doing a vacation without going anywhere special. Well, strange times require unusual measures. So no vacay.. I didn´t have one last summer due to my first knee surgery and now the second knee and covid19. I sure hope next year will be better (fingers crossed). I so, so, so miss the sand and the sea. What about you? Any plans?

Wishing you a nice day and weekend!!

Shadow AJ page

Hello and happy Friday!! Today I´ll share another art journal page from my Dylusions journal with you. This time my starting point was a black background:

I wanted to play on a black page for a change, so I painted one of the journal pages black. Then I drew the face with a white Posca pen. At first it looked a bit strange, almost like a negative image, but when I started adding colour, she looked more and more interesting and fun.

One of the struggles was to get the eyes „right“. When I left them black and only drew with white, they looked empty. Then I colored the irises with light blue. Still looked strange! Then I realised I could color the white parts with a white Distress Crayon and then they started to look better.

Because of the dark background I could go crazy with colour. I really like how the paint tones look against the dark. When I was done with the face and hair, I added random pattern around the „white space“ and wrote a quote with white.

She looks crazy colorful and creating her made me happy. And that is what matters most! I am just creating, not trying to overthink and plan too much. Just play, play, play and fill my journal with fun times and projects. In the end I will see how far I´ve gotten and how much I´ve developed. Still quite a few pages to go :).

Have a great, creative Friday and a wonderful weekend, lovelies!

Be yourself AJ page

Hello and happy Friday! Today I´m sharing another art journal page that I created very quickly after work, just to get my „batteries reloaded“ after a long workday. It´s been a crazy few days and weeks, so I needed this time so much!

This face, she, emerged from random play. I didn´t plan on doing a face at first, but then somehow all the colour on the background reminded me of face paintings of the indigenous people we saw, when we visited the Amazonas a few years ago. So I went with the feeling and this is how she turned out.

And it´s also a reminder to be true to yourself, just to be you and not to try be someone else, because it will not work out trying to be someone else. I again did some prints with one of my stencils on the background using Dina Wakley paints and then I drew on that. The washi is also by Dina and I´ve used her Scribble Sticks to make the orange background too.

So what are your plans for this weekend? Are you going to craft a little? I sure hope I can find some time for that this weekend!! And hopefully the weather will be sunny – it´s been raining and cold and grey. Where has summer gone? I need some vitamine sun…

Happy weekend!

Be authentic AJ page

Hello and happy Saturday! Today I´m sharing another art journal face with you. This time, I went with what I grabbed – my color choices are odd (I am not an orange person very much), but I just grabbed something I don´t use that often and went from there.

I also had created random circles onto the background and didn´t like them that much, so I let them „disappear“ in the background and added lime green to the orange. I know – quite a color combination, isn´t it? And then there is was, the bold background and I didn´t quite know how to continue. So I just drew a face, I gave her black hair to distrackt a bit from the crazy background colours and I kept her face really simple.

I just drew the eyes, a tiny part of the nose and very simple lips. I didn´t even color her properly. I just added tone to her cheeks and some to the eyes and lips. Then I felt like adding the heavy body paint (by Dina Wakley) thru a stencil on top of it all. And it works really well. After that I added the words/text with a white Posca pen. For finishing touches I added some splatters and black stars in a row with a stamp.

This page is a reminder to be braver and authentic. Each face I make – even though I´m still learning and dabbling in face drawing – has it´s own look, they are genuine in their own way. Unique even. And always a result of different types of feeling from that particular day when I was creating them. So they differ in looks and style. And that´s ok. I´m going more towards quantity when art journaling. That will hopefully lead me to finding my own face drawing style sooner :).

Have a fabulous Saturday and weekend, lovelies!!!
