DIY colorful Dresden Paper images

Hello everyone! I have so much enjoyed watching the Facebook Lives by Tim Holtz recently! And a few weeks back (I think, I lost count of days and weeks) he shared this idea with his embossing glazes and crayons in combination with his Sizzix Impresslits die cut dies. I so fell in love with the results, BUT I don´t have the glazes yet, so there goes that idea (for now).

But he said something in his video that got me thinking. He said, he originally designed the dies to create DIY Dresden papers and didn´t do that much anymore, because it was just that, DIY Dresden.. I had some VERY OLD alcohol inks (old school, like Tim says!) in my stash and some silver mirror cardstock that would make perfect Dresden papers. So this idea came to my mind when I played with the silver paper and tried alcohol lift-ink on it and just played around. It was this what if moment you get while experimenting and just playing with product without any particular plan: I could do DIY alcohol ink colored Dresden images – that for sure would look cool!! And it did!!!

Here are the results:

For first step just apply the alcohol inks onto a silver mirror paper either directly (let flow, spread and dry on their own or use a felt piece to apply and then let properly dry out).

Next take any of Tim´s Impresslits dies out and die cut the alcohol inked papers. And BAM! Just look at this gorgeousness!!! I am in love! Sooo many cool colours. And they somehow remind me of vintage christmas tree baubles!!! Like the ones our grandma´s used to decorate the trees with. So until I get any of the glazes, I am going to use all my silver mirror paper pieces and old alcohol inks and make these! These pieces will make great additions to any mixed media project.

Thank you Tim for the inspiring video that got me into doing this :)! Love the results.

Happy crafting!
xxx, Sanna
