Guesting at Jehkotar challenge blog

Hi there everyone, I had the pleasure to meet Taru aka Jehkotar last September in Finland in person. She is a lovely, hands-on-type of person, who has energy and creativity stored in her enough for more than one person! In addition to many design team memberships, regular in-person classes, Facebook lives etc. she also runs her own challenge blog. I know, right?!! Her day has to have more hours than mine 😉 …

Hei, minulla on kunnia olla Jehkotar Craft Challenge Blogin vieraileva tähti tässä kuussa! Valitsin bingo-rivin inspiraatioksi vasemmasta reunasta (kohopasta-teippi-liima). Tämän postituksen lopusta löytyy suomenkielinen video katseltavaksi, jossa rakennan tagin vaihe vaiheelta. Kiitos Taru, kutsusta, tämä oli kiva haaste!!!

When she asked me if I´d join her challenges as a guest, I immediately agreed. So my guest month is April. Every month the challenge consist of an inspirational photo, bingo chart and a song. You can pick whichever of these or combine multiple themes together. I´ts been a while since I did a craft bingo and I must say, I kinda missed it!

Here is the April bingo chart that I used as my inspiration:

and here is what I created:
I chose to use the left vertical line with GLUE & TAPE & PASTE on my tag.

About the tape: it´s a Tim Holtz tissue tape which I misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists (see the video for that here). For the background I adhered a patterned paper onto the tag surface using paper glue. Then I mixed some glass bead glitter paste (Faber-Castell) with Tattered Angles PlainJane Matte Mist (Wave) and Nuvo Turquoise Glitter together. I applied the paste thru my STAMPlorations Fairytale Forest stencil onto the tag.

Next I added another GLUE detail: I applied some glue with a Nuvo Glue Pen onto the background and then applied Nuvo Copper Gilding Flakes onto the adhesive areas (see above). For decoration I adhered a plastic flower – misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists (see video to that theme here) – with the Tonic Studios PVA glue onto the tag. The glue dries transparent and will hold the flower well in place.

I also added some Crystal Drops (which consist of glitter and some type of dimensional paste/adhesive) next to the plastic flower. In a broader sence the Crystal Drops can also be seen as adhesive or even paste  in my opinion. So I´m hoping I´m still moving inside the rules with this product choice ;-)…

For finishing touched I added some fussy cut sentiment from a 7gypsies paper pad and some ribbons and cord. The sentiments are adhered on place with 3D foam tape squares. Which again, in my opinion, can be seen as glue/adhesive or even tape ;-).

As you can see I was very creative in finding products for this tag that would fit the categories I chose. To play safe, maybe you don´t want to strech the rules as much as I did. But I had a great time creating this tag for the challenge!!

For all the Finnish participants and readers, I´ve recorded a process video IN FINNISH. Hope you enjoy!!

Thank you so much for having me, Taru! I really enjoyed creating with the bingo-chart! Wishing everyone a great time with this challenge and happy crafting!

Misted Mixed Media Tag – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone and Happy Saturday! I´m up with another Mixed Media project share and tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog today. For today´s post, I wanted to create a colorful mixed media tag.

Here is what I created:

And here is how I went upon creating this tag:  I have a book af cheap watercolor papers that have a coloring image on them. I went and die cut the Stitched Nesting Tag with my die cutting machine from that paper pad. The image just adds to the layers of my tag, I don´t mind it being there at all.Next I took the Heartfelt Hibiscus stamp image and using an embossing ink pad, stamped the image onto the background quite randomly. I only left some space at the very top for the Trendy Birds 2 clear stamp images. Those are also embossed with white embossing ink, like the flower images. I heat set the embossing powder with my heat tool. After that I took a set of spray inks and applied them onto the background. In between colours I used my heat tool to dry the particular spray ink layer abit, before adding the next one. I love the gorgeous shine the spray inks add to the background. Now you can also see the random flower pattern and the birds thru the misting. I repeated the same steps like above on the single bird image, this time using black spray ink. After the spray ink was dry, I fussy cut the image. Then I took a residue piece of white cardstock (I always save small pieces of paper for purposes like this) and stamped words from the Trendy Birds 2 stamp set onto the paper. I also applied a rub-on onto the paper and then inked the background green with spray ink. Next I fussy cut every piece.I then adhered all the fussy cut pieces on place and decorated the background with Nuvo Confetti (this adds an additional sparckle). For additonal detail I added some Nuvo Mousse thru the „Rag Rug“ stencil with a palette knife here and there on the tag background. This adds an additional layer of texture and interest. For finishing touches I added some Nuvo Drops here and there and some ribbons. Here are some detail photos of the tag.

I hope you get inspired to play with stencils yourself and create a mixed media project of your own! When you do, remember to submit your project to the Mixed Media Challenge!

Also I am again adding my discount code for you to use. When you add „STAMPGIRLSANNA“ upon checkout at the STAMPlorations store, you will get 20% off your order! Happy shopping &

Mixed Media Challenge, March – STAMPlorations

Hello and Happy Sunday! It´s that time of the month again – the brand new Mixed Media challenge reveal is live at STAMPlorations blog. So this means, it´s time for you guys to get crafty!
Here, for inspirational purposes, my take for this months reveal:

A set pf Artist Trading Coins with stenciling, misting, embossing and coloring as well as some rub-ons. I first applied some residue paste (Faber-Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel) thru a stencil onto the background. The stencil I used is one of my own designs for STAMPlorations: „Fairytale Forest“. Next I misted the coins with Icicle Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Then I moved into stamping and embossing a „Heartfelt Hibiscus“ stamp image (also by STAMPlorations) onto white cardstock, then coloring the images with Distress Oxides and a Nuvo Water Tank Brush. For decorational elements I chose to use some 7gypsies Parchment Rub-Ons (the birds and the sentiments), some Nuvo Confetti Hexagons  and Nuvo Crystal Drops. I fuss cut the stamped images as well as the rub-on pieces and adhered everything on place. And finally adhered a small green button on each one.

So now is your turn, be sure to hop over to the STAMPLorations blog to see what my design team colleagues created for this reveal and then play along. Be sure to follow the rules. You will find them here.
And like always, feel free to take advantage of my personal discount code over at STAMPlorations store. You get 20% off your order by adding „STAMPGIRLSANNA“ upon checkout.

Hope to see your creations at the STAMP blog,
Happy crafting,

Girly colored tiny mixed media canvas – Tattered Angels

Hi there everyone! Today I´m sharing a really girly colored, fun and different kind of mixed media canvas over at Canvas Crop Brands blog. Well, different to what I usually make, that is. This one is full of pink and yellow tones!!! Are you ready?

This tiny piece is full of PINK and ribbon and hearts and glitter and just everything I am usually not using :). And you know what, I loved creating it :). The butterfly metal piece in the middle was already pre-treated with Glimmer Mists, when I started with this canvas. That again is one of those pieces I used for filming the Tattared Angels Glimmer Mist video series last year. See those videos here.

I´ve again recorded a process video on how I did the canvas, so hop over to my YouTube channel to see it (go here!). Also if you are interesting on seeing more photos and reading more details, hop over to the Canvas Corp Brands blog (here) to take a look! Hope you like it!

Happy crafting,

Artist Trading Coins

Hello and Happy Wednesday! Today I would like to share a set of Artist Trading Coins with you. I recently created a set of shaker cards and had a few circle pieces (in the right size!) left over from the cards, so I used them for ATCs.

First I applied some Glass Bead and Glitter Gel thru the STAMPlorations Lupinus stencil onto the surface. Next I misted the Backgrounds with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. After that I added some washi tapes and some flower ribbon to the pieces. I finished the coins with 7gypsies parchment rub-ons by applying those on white cardstock, then fussy cut them and colored them in with Glimmer Mists.

I could not resist but to add some Nuvo Crystal Drops onto the birdhouse in the end. Just a small, additional glitter detail.

I really enjoy creating Artist Trading Coins at the moment. Have you tried them yet?
Wishing you a great day,
xxx, Sanna
