Follow your heart – card

Hello and happy Monday! Today I´m stopping by to share a mixed media card with you again. This one is full of colour and has a fun paper doll on it. All in all a very easy card to make, but still so much fun!

I´ve misted the background paper with Dina Wakley gloss sprays in 4 different colours. After it was dry, I added a few splatters of whit eon top and then decorated with card with a Tim Holtz paper doll, who has silver rays behind her hat and a big rhinestone heart.

Her being a girl scout I found the sentiment „follow your heart“ more than suitable for this card. It can be given away for a graduation or a childs move to college or leaving home and pursuing their own dreams. I so enjoy making this type of cards!!

Hoping your week is a good one!

STAMPlorations 5th birthday celebration

STAMPlorations has been and is celebrating all along the month of June on their blog and for today´s post, it´s my turn to share some of my very favorite projects, created with and for STAMPlorations products.

But first let me wish STAMPlorations all the best for their 5th Birthday!!! I wish there will be many, many more to come!!!

And now to my projects: It was so hard for me to pick 3 of my favorite older projects, so I chose to pick various project types; one art journal page, one tag and one ATC project from the past. Here is the art journal page:

This art journal page is also very special, because it features one of my very first stencil designs on it too. Hadn´t there been STAMPlorations, there might not be Sanna Lippert Designs either. So there, I am very, very thankful for being on this team and having such an amazing boss like Shery, who is the nicest and kindest and most supportive boss one could wish for. If you are interested in reading the original blog post about this page – go here.  Also, I did a second page with the same technique, but that one features a how-to video too, so if you want to take a better look, on how I create this type of pages, see this video.

As my second „fave from the past“ project I picked a tag. It was for a TAGplorations challenge and is one of my favorite tags. I played with Distress Inks and ARTplorations stencils on this one and added some embossing around the leaves for a golden accent. Go here to read the original blog post.

And finally, here is my 3rd fave project from the past – a pocket ATC. This is also one of my first projects, created as a STAMPlorations Mixed Media Challenge Team member. I just love the bird stencils and stamps!!! I find myself using them ALL THE TIME in various projects. And this little pocket ATC also comes with an original post  (here) and a video tutorial (go here). Hope you liked my „project blasts from the past“ 🙂 annndd.. now for something new. And since I chose to share one project per project type, my new, last project share is a mixed media art piece/home decor piece (with a photo tutorial). So let´s start with the step-by-step:

I chose to use a resin piece by Relics & Artifacts called Rising Spirit and to build my art piece around it. There is a little empty space inside the heart piece and I measured a small white cardstock piece to fit inside that space and applied some pink Nuvo thru a STAMPlorations stencil onto it.

Next I treated the resin pieces with some golden and pearl toned Nuvo Mousse to give them some additional sparkle and shine. I used a small foam piece to apply the mousse.

After the stenciled dots were relatively dry, I took a water tank brush and „painted“ the open areas with water diluted mousse and also added the same pink tone to the chipboard sentiment I had chosen to use on my project.

But I also wanted to add some additional color to the resin pieces, so I treted the flame with Glimmer Mist Vanilla Breeze tone and let it air dry on it´s own.

The heart piece got a layer of Tutti Frutti Glimmer Mist tone onto it. As you can see, I sprayed lots of mist onto it and it still only got a slight shimmer on the surface. I let this piece air dry on it´s own too and moved over to the next step.

I then took a sheet of Canvas Corp Brands tissue paper and  sprayed some Nuvo Antique Gold Mica Mist onto it. This time I dried the tissue paper with a heat tool. Because I needed it to be completely dry for my next step.

I then placed one of the Sanna Lippert Designs stencils on top of the paper and applied Nuvo Mother of Pearl mousse thru the stencil with a palette knife onto the paper.

Here you can see the pattern, still moist, after removing the stencil. I left the piece to dry on it´s own and then adhered it with decoupage glue onto a woodblock I had chosen.

Here you can see the wood block „in treatment“ with some Tattered Angels Decor & DIY paint in „Tan“ tone. It´s a great paint for such projects, as the surface does not need to be pre-treated with anything and the first layer (I did only one layer of paint here!!!) gives full coverage!!! Treat the wood block at the beginning of your project, this saves you waiting time, even though this paint dries quite fast, but it is annoying to wait for something to dry, when you are in the creative flow 🙂 …

After the paint had dried, I adhered the tissue paper with the decoupage glue onto it and started assembling all the bits and pieces on top. I adhered the resin pieces with gel medium (takes a bit longer to dry, but will never come off). Then I placed the small stenciled paper piece into the middle of the heart (adhered with regular glue) and added a small heart pearl into the middle. The heart got treated with some Nuvo Glitter Drops as did the area around the hole.

Then I took some glimmer misted  (blue) nails/screws and attached them to the heart piece with gel medium. The chipboard piece got a burlap mat underneath it – I had misted that with glimmer mists earlier. And then I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops onto each corner of the wooden block and placed a small red confetti piece into each center for an additional detail. This was very tricky, as the confetti is really tiny. Here are some photos of the finished project:

As you can see, I also added some Nuvo Drops onto the „neck areas“ of the resin pieces for interest. Also the carved pattern on the heart is treated with golden Nuvo Mousse and some Nuvo Glitter Drops for a fu detail. And the nails are attached to the heart with adhesive, but afterwards I added some  Glitter Drops around the nails to make it look like they burst out of the heart, leaving marks on the surface. Well, at least that was the effect I tried to create here.

This is my newest project with STAMPlorations product. I chose to use only stencils on this project, as I love using them on anything and everything. I hope you made it all the way to the end of this very long post – thank you for visiting and taking a look at my favorite projects. Now is your turn to join in on the birthday celebration – read all about it over here at the STAMPlorations blog!!!

Now is your turn: it would be fun to see your takes on some of my projects!!! So go and  case any of these featured projects and link your project to the STAMPlorations blog birthday blog post HERE , I´d love to see what you cased!!!

Through her eyes challenge

Hello there everyone and welcome to another crafty friends challenge organized by my lovely friend Tina. This time it all started from an old diary Tina found at an antique store (it´s almost 100 years old!). She shared a few pages of it with the participants and it was totally upto us, what we did with those (here is an example of one of the pages).

So here is what I did: I used a piece of one diary sheet (printed from a photo) and created an altered woodblock piece around it. I´ve painted the block with Tattered Angels Decor&DIY paints (mixed black and white) and then adhered the diary sheet onto the block with paper glue.

On top of the paper there are droplets of Glimmer Mist in Vanilla Breeze tone. The paper is „mounted to the block“ with the 7Gypsies brass studs and decorated with pink twine, a chipboard sentiment and a 7gypsies lady picture.

I tinted the chipboard piece with Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist tone to match the rest of the colors and also added some of that tone to the picture of the lady under the angel figure.   The angel is by Relics and Artifacts as are the wings. For additional decor I added some Tonic Studios Nuvo Glitter and Crystal drops (see full list of product at the end of this post).

I really enjoyed creating this project around an old diary page. I plan on adding two more wooden blocks to this so they later create  a set. Maybe the next challenge will give me the possibility to do so? 🙂

Now hop over to Tina´s blog to see what she did and also find links to the other participants blogs there! OR see some of them listed here:
