A rusted background layout – Frog Dog Studio

Hello there! Today I´m sharing with you one more project I made for Frog Dog Studio with the March mixed media kit. This will also be the beginning of my monthly series called „simply stencils“. I will make at least one project a month where I will use a stencil in one way or another. As my first project I created a rusted layout background and added some stencilled details here and there.

Here is how I did it:

I first applied some Glue n´ Seal with a paint brush onto the cardstock and then poured the powder over the „glued“ areas. Next I sprayed some white winegar over the powdered areas and let the media react.

And this is the rusted paper result I ended up with! I really, really like this effect alot! I then added some mist splatters here and there as they perfectly matched the rust colour.
Next I added some stamping (used a Frog Dog Studio exclusive stamp).
After that I added some circles onto the background for additional detail. I used a TCW stencil (by Ronda Palazzari) with black Distress Ink. Now the background was all done and I just needed to add some decoration and the title.

I used all the leftover pieces of chipboard, foil tape and corrugated cardboard here. Added some sticker elements, twine, doodling and some white ink (Liquitex Ink! Titanium white) for detail. This is what the finished layout looks like:

It was so much fun creating this page! I really like the effect of rusting powder (by Dusty Attic) on paper!

Happy scrapping,
xoxo, Sanna

Christmas ornaments – guest blogger over at Ronda Palazzari´s blog

Hello there! Today I have a great honour to be guest blogging with a Christmas ornament project over at Ronda Palazzari´s blog. Yes, THAT certain Ronda! Can you imagine, how in awe I was when she contacted me and asked if I´d like to do a guest blog post for her blog. I almost fell off the chair :)!!! Additionally I had to read the email thru again and again! So, thank you Ronda, for having me over at your blog – it is a HUGE HONOUR!

Here is my project that I made with her gorgeous stencils. Hope you like this little tutorial <3!

I first took a piece of brown packaging paper (I use the paper that comes with my scrapbooking kits for this purpose) and placed a stencil over the paper. Then I applied white acrylic paint over it/them with a foam brush. I used „Spinning Tops“, „Kaleidoscope“ and „Switchback“ stencils for my ornaments. After applying the paint I let the paper dry properly.

Next I took some paper mache forms (by Efco) and applied Ranger „Glue n´ Seal“ on them with a paint brush. Then I placed the painted brown packaging paper on them and glued it down. After that I applied another layer of „Glue n´ Seal“ over the paper mache pieces to seal the painted areas.

Now that the basic forms were done I just needed to apply the gold ribbon for hanging and some decoration. I applied tulle, lace and tinsel ribbon between the forms before gluing them together. For the first ornament I punched some snowflakes out of glitter cardstock and added a banner underneath the snowflakes as well as a little pearl in the middle (the one with tulle).

For the second one I used tacky tape to glue down the tinsel ribbon around the edges. For the middle I chose some plywood elements for decoration, applied a layer of „Glossy Accents“ over them and then poured gold glitter over the whole area. The glitter needed to dry out properly before I added the red wooden pearl „wreath“ on the top. The third ornament has some lace around it and a wooden chipboard element in the middle. I additionally decorated the chipboard snowflakes with some diamond glitter glue for additional shine.

These ornaments are fairly easy to do. By changing the color and the embellishments you can create a totally different look. I can´t wait to see these hang in our Christmas tree! I hope you have enjoyed this little ornament idea!!!
