Birthday card

Hello and happy Monday! Today I´d like to share a 50th birthday card with you. I´ve used plenty of my older paper stash papers to create this card in orange and red tones. This is not a combination I do often, as orange does not happen to be one of my favorite colours, but in this case, the card had to have these colours.

I started by adhering the polka dot paper onto a white card base (size A5). Then I die cut the 5 and the 0 from various patterned papers using Tonic Studios die cut dies. I adhered the numbers in place with liquid adhesive (also by Tonic).

Next I added plenty of bits and bobs like enamel circles, Nuvo Pearls, puff stickers and a die cut speech bubble piece. The sentiment is done using Thickers alphas. For finishing touches I also outlined the numbers with a black pen.

Since my card was bigger than a regular card size, I had to make a matching envelope for it. I used a 12×12 patterned paper from my older paper stash for that and folded it into an envelope. For decoration I added some Basic Grey stickers onto the envelope. Now these go back quite a few years, but they really work well with all the papers and patterns here.

That´s it for today, be sure to stop by on Thursday when I will be sharing another The Wild Hare Kits August kit project here on my blog :).

Happy crafting,

Sea days – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello everyone! Today I´d like to share a little step-by-step maritime layout with you. I´ve used some cool papers and products by Canvas Corp Brands on this one.

We did quite a lot of travelling last summer and really enjoyed it a lot. There photos were taken from you ship tour towards Finland. It was our very first sea tour with the whole family and very exciting for all of us. I might add that I get sea sick, so I might have been the most nervous one of us all when boarding the ship. But, it all went well and we all enjoyed the journey very much :).

Here is the finished layout: and this is what I did:

These are the materials I used: papers by Canvas Corp from the Classic Nautical collection, some hemp twine, a black ink by Hero Arts, some die cut (Tim Holtz) chipboard pieces, word stickers, Tattered Angels Glaze and Mists, a 7Gypsies stamp and some paper glue and scissors.

I first applied some water with a paint brush onto the background – the areas where the photos will be later, are marked with a pencil.

Next I added some Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist with a paint brush onto the wet areas and let it spread and soak into the paper freely on those places.

After it had spreaded thoroughly, I dried the paper with a heat gun.

Next I added some black ink onto the Distresses Words stamp, but only to some areas.

I then stamped around the blue misted areas with the black ink to add random stamping here and there.

Next I cut “circles” out of the hemp cord and layed them onto the background. As you can see I also had cut some “Navy and Ivory Anchors” and “Red and Ivory Big Stripe” papers into smaller and wider stripes for both the left and right sides of the layout.

Next I painted the die cut pieces with a light blue chalk paint and cut them in half and adhered them with paper glue on their places. After that I placed the photos where they should be in the end and glued them down too.

Next I applied some word stickers here and there and outlined those with a black pen. Also added some black Glimmer Glaze splatters around the photo cluster areas and let the Glaze air dry.

Finally I took some chipboard clouds, painted them with a blue Glimmer Glaze and while it was still wet, added some Multi Chrystal Glitter Mix over the glazed areas. This way when the Glaze dries the glitter will stick to it and not fall off later.

I then glued the clouds on their places, added the title and the layout was done. Here are some detail photos:

I hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial. I love the blue, white and red combination! It is so happy and fresh! This was just such a lovely summer holiday – good memories!!! This Classic Nautical collection is one of my faves – and perfect for these photos too 🙂 !!!

Some more Christmas cards – final round

Hi there, just wanted to share a few more Christmas cards with you today. I think these will be the last ones this season 😉 …

I´ve used lots of pre-made pieces/embellishments on these cards. First of all, because I just want to finally use them and second, because this way the cards are finished in no time :).

For this card I created an extremely C&S cover and then stamped the sentiment (using this stamp set) inside the card.

This one has the silvery word “XMAS” on it. That actually was a Xmas present decoration from a present I received last year. I saved it since it was very pretty and it now decorates the card instead.

And this last one is my favorite. I love, love, love the glitter covered snowflake against the golden doilie. And the pretty die cut, spray inked piece on the background is just simply cute. Hmmm…might save this card for myself…!? Nah, just kidding!!!

Now every year I make myself a goal to start earlier with the card production so that I have more time and can put more effort into them, but for some reason I haven´t managed to reach that goal during the past years. Therefore my cards turn out to be pretty simple. But maybe next year will be different…we will see!

Happy crafting, lovelies!
