Cute Baby Cards

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! Today I´m sharing a set of baby cards with you. In between of creating for my design team assignments, I also try to sneek in some stash busting projects and this is one of them.

See, on this card set I´ve used quite old pre-dry-embossed card bases from my older stash. I wanted to make them look a little bit more colorful so I inked the dry-embossed areas with Distress Inks in blue, pink and yellow tones and then started rreating the cards from there.

I then added a ribbon bow onto each card – I have so much ribbon stored in my studio! You really have no idea.. So cards are a good way to bust that pile a bit.

This card had a pink organza ribbon going across the card. On top of that I added a polka dotted paper (available at Elizabeth Craft Designs – see product links at the end of this post) and a stamped Stampin´ Up banner sentiment. I inked the sentiment in the same Disttress Ink tone that I used for the background. The little monster/creature in the middle of the card is a stamp by Starving Artistamps. They have the cutest creature stamps!! I bought those stamps years ago and still love using them!

The image is colored with a water tank brush and Tonic Studios Nuvo Watercolour Pencils. I also added googly eyes to the image for a fun detail. And the tiny heart, well it´s a negative piece/leftover from this card. I saved them and am now using them everywhere :). Talk about recycling leftover pieces!!

And on the yellow card I did the same steps, except the paper on the background is by Magnolia and I used another Stampin´ Up sentiment and an old Close To My Heart giraffe for stamping.

The blue card is the same, like the pink one, just in blue tones.

That´s it for today. I hope you enjoyed this stash busting project. There is still so much stash to be busted 😉 that I will probably need to make these a regular posting theme here on the blog..

Happy crafting,

Dreams take flight ATC set – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone, it´s again time for another STAMPlorations Mixed Media tutorial. Today I´d like to share a Artist Trading Card set and the steps, how I created them, with you. Here is what I made:

And now to the steps:

I started with a pink spray ink misted white paper piece on which I placed the Foiled stencil. I then applied watermark/embossing ink thru the stencil onto the paper and then poured a layer of Sticky Embossing Powder over the inked areas.

After heat setting the powder I took some foil sheets (gold) and pressed them onto the sticky areas. The foil sticks to the sticky embossing powder and leaves a nice godl foil surface onto the emboessed powder areas.

Next I took the Feathery clear stamp set and stamped some feathers onto a piece of white cardstock, again using watermark ink and this time embossing with clear embossing powder.

After heat setting the clear embossing powder I applied red and two tones of green Distress Ink onto my working surface, misted the ink areas with water mist and pressed the paper onto the damp ink. I got a really nice and soft hued paper in the process.

Then I just fussy cut the leaves along the edges with small scissors.

At this point I cut the foiled paper into a right size and as a result I had 4 ATC´s. I decorated them with boder stickes (from my older stash). I love using older product on my mixed media projects. It´s a good way of using up stash you necessarily would not use anywhere else.

After that I splattered some black ink splatters onto the ATCs for additional detail and dimension.

Next I adhered the feathers on place and added some Harvest Moon glitter glue onto them for a fun detail. I let the glitter glue dry a while and then took a wooden stick and scraped the glitter areas a little. This way I was able to remove any concentrated glitter and smoothen it out abit.

Finally I stamped a sentiment several times onto white cardstock and inked it with a light green ink tone. After that I fussy cut the sentiments and adhered them onto the cards. Here is a closeup of the finished ATC.

This is it from me for this year :). I hope you can take some inspiration from my project into the new year. How about making the sentiment your motto for the new year? Do the projects you are dreaming of doing next year and let your creativity loose. Wishing you all a lovely holiday season!! See you in 2019 with fun projects again 🙂 !!!

December Mixed Media challenge reveal

Hello everyone and happy 2nd of December! Its time for the very last STAMPlorations mixed media challenge reveal in 2018.

This time I created a fun tag:

Believe it or not, I started off with a piece of plain white cardstock :)!

Then I applied some Barn Door Distress ink with a blending brush I bought from Søstrene Grene recently. This brush is actually a make-up brush, but it works so well with inks and stencils too :)…

After that I took the Plaid Maker ARTplorations stencil and placed it on top of the red inked tag. I applied Black Soot Distress Ink with the brush thru the stencil onto the tag. First vertically,

..and then horizontally and I had a gorgeous plaid patterned background as a result. I love how this turned out. The plaid maker stencil is really so much fun to create such backgrounds with!

To highlight the pattern a little more, I took a metal ruler and a white gel pen and drew some white lines on top of the widest black stripes. This gives it even a more genuine plaid pattern look.

Finally, I die cut a white circle from a Pearl Ripple patterned paper (Tonic Studios) to place my sentiment on. The die cut sentiment is by STAMPlorations and was die cut from Godl Dust paper by Tonic Studios. I love the gold glitter paper, it adds such a nice festive touch to any project!

For finishing touches I added a golden ribbon and some blue resin stars onto the tag. I can see this tag hanging on a present that has been wrapped in kraft/brown packaging paper. It will work so well and be a great eye catcher on the present 🙂 … Now´s again your turn! Remember to read the rules and play by them to be eligble for the prizes! Hope to see your projects at STAMPlorations blog!!!

ps. Should you still need a present or two, do take advantage of my discount code at the STAMPlorations store. Add „STAMPGIRLSANNA“ upon checkout and you get 20% off your order! Enjoy!

TAGplorations November challenge reveal

Hello everyone, new month means it´s time for a new TAGplorations challenge!! This month´s challenge is all about GRATITUDE!

You are asked to create a project featuring a tag around the theme of giving thanks. As an optional twist you can use POLKA DOTS.

Here is what I did:

I´ve chosen to use totally different colors on this months tag, rather than taking typical fall colors out to play. I really like the strong contrast the Distress Paints created!!! The tag is created using Distress Paints on their own on the background and also with a stencil. I also used the stencil both ways, first dabbing the paint thru the stencil onto the background, then flipping it around to brayer the residue paint onto the other side of tag. This creates a really interesting look using both positive and negative sides.

Step 1: Take a piece of white cardstock, die cut with the nesting tag die cut die and apply three shades of Distress Paint onto a working surface. Apply a few spritz of water on top and dab and pull the color onto the tag.  Let dry.

Step 2: Take a dark green Distress Paint tone and the Dots all Over stencil and dabb the Distress Paint onto the tag thru the stencil. Next turn the stencil with the residue wet paint are around towards the tag and press the paint (using a brayer) onto the tag. Lift the stencil off and let dry.

Step 3: Stamp birds and sentiments with black ink using the For the Birds – June 2017 stamp set. Outline the birds with white gel pen. Decorate with polka dotted washi tape and a pink misted white resin flower. Add a pink ribbon to finish the tag.

Now it´s again your turn to play – remember to follow the rules:

  • you can link up as many projects as you want (1 project per blog post!!)
  • Projects can be anything but they must feature a TAG
  • Non-STAMPlorations products also allowed
  • To qualify for the prize, you must display the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge post (blogs only!!)
  • Prizes: $15 Giftcard for the winner and $5 Giftcard to three randomly picked participants

Have fun playing,
xxx, Sanna
