The Universe Art Journal Page

Hi there lovelies and happy Monday! I grabbed my art journal again the other day and created a little in it. My OLW theme being self-care for this year, I decided to add a few theme related pages to the journal.

I´m sure you all know the situation, when the whole universe is practically screaming on your face to wake up, but you just cannot see it. You go on wondering why things are the way they are and struggling from one day to another and have no clue whatsoever why everything feels so hard.

And then suddenly it just hits you in the face. BAM! And just like that you realize it. Everything seems so ridiculously clear at once. It´s like someone took you by the shoulders and shook you really hard and suddenly there is enlightment. And then all you can do is just smile! A weight falls down your shoulders and it´s all so very clear.

And then you realize who the universe had been sending signals all the time, but you just were to busy to give them any thought. It was all so obvious, and you still could not see it – until now. That is what this journal page is about. I had this experience this weekend and now everything just seems so clear and light. It´s like a ton of weight was lifted from my shoulders. Boy, it was about time for this to happen. I could not have gone on much further without this happening! Thank you, universe, for slapping me in the face :). It was much needed!!!

I wish you all a fabulous day! A wonderful week and lots of creativity! Today is a good day 🙂 – enjoy it!

December Stencil Challenge – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone and welcome to the December Stencil Challenge reveal!! I am still crazy creating in my art journal. I just cannot seem to stop.. Here is what I created for this months STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge:

It´s a stenciled and misted background created with lots of Distress Inks and my stencil line stencils and in addition I gave a try to one-line-face-drawing (well, kind of one-line). It didn´t always work out as I planned, but I managed to create a cluster of faces onto the page. This is something we also played with at Louise Nelson´s class at Okka Treff last year.

I love the randomness of these faces! I just could not leave them without colour, as I originally planned, so I added some colour to the eyes and lips at least. And I also sneaked a small journaling onto the page. It says: „Fear is a choice“ and it is so true! Danger is real, but fear is always a choice we make.

So this is my take for the December Stencil Challenge. Remember, you can always create anything you want, just as long as your project features stencils and as long as you play by the rules. Like always, there a prizes to be won – so go check out the other girls inspiration projects and grab your stencils and give them a play! Have fun!!!

Happy stenciling,

November Stencil Challenge – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone and welcome to the November STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge!! For this month´s challenge reveal, I´ve again created an art journal page. I just cannot seem to take a break from art journaling at the moment.

Here is what I created:

Remember I did this type of pages a while back (I think it was last year?) and I just felt like creating one more. This quote resulted from a day where I had been doing lots of „good deeds“ just for the fun of it and somehow on that day and the day after, everything seemed to come back twice as good; „do good and the good comes back to you“ really seems to be true.

And now to the techniques I´ve used. First I applied some liquid watercolor onto a damp (misted) page and let the colours spread and form splodges on their own. After that I took an iridescent acrylic paint which I applied onto the page thru the Peacock Feathers stencil. Then I hand wrote the quote with Posca pens and also added some details with them to the feathers. For finishing touches I added a few red spray ink splatters.

So that is my take for the November challenge reveal. I hope you join us an give your stencils a play. There are always prizes to be won (if you play by the rules). And now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog to take a look at the other inspirational projects my team colleagues created!!

Happy stenciling,

Never assume – Art journal page

Hello lovelies! It´s time for another art journal page share. For today´s page I´ve again used gelli plate tissue paper magazine transfer images as my focal point. This is what the finished page looks like:

The background had a layer of purple spray ink already on it, so I painted on top of it with yellow and green acrylic paint. Then I added a few strips of old book paper here and there and created „lines“ next to them with ocher acrylic paint tone.

I then added stenciled images with STAMPlorations „Leaves 1 and Leaves 2“ (from my line of stencils there) onto the page and stamped with a Viva Las VegaStamps stamp images onto the backgrond before I moved over to adding the tissue paper magazine transfer images onto the page. I then highlighted some of the images with Posca pens and for finishing touches added some more stamping onto the bottom area (again using Viva Las VegaStamps) and finished everything with a powerful quote.

That´s all for today. Be sure to come back on Friday for another project share! Wishing you a great day and see you soon,

Art journal spread „Find Beauty“ – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone, it´s my turn today again to share another mixed media tutorial with you on STAMPlorations blog. For this month´s post, I´ve prepared an art journal spread with steps. I hope you like it!

I aimed for a light and happy spring feel page  and here is what it looks like:

And now to the steps:

Step 1: Start by adhering music note sheets onto the art journal with a varnish or a paper adhesive.

Step 2: Apply some gesso onto the music note sheets with a palette knife to create a slightly softer and lighter look.

Step 3: Take the Rose Garden stencil and some Distress Paints (worn lipstick, picked raspberry and twisted citron tones) and apply the paints thru the stencil onto the journal spread. I used two pink tones on the roses very randomly and created lighter and darker toned petals that way.

Step 4: Apply paint droplets onto the background with same paint tones using a water tank brush. Step 5: Fussy cut butterflies and adhere to the page, add a stamped sentiment with black stamp ink.
Step 6: Take a tag die cut die and use it as a drawing guide and draw a tag pattern with a black pen onto the background.
Step 7: Color the tags with yellow acrylic paint and let dry properly.
Step 8: Add outlining to the stenciled patterns with a black pen.
Step 9: Add a quote or journaling to the tags and finish off with black ink splatters.
Here are some details of the finished journal spread.

I hope you enjoyed today´s step-by-step and get inspired to play in your art journal a little! Have fun creating!!
