The F*ckin´ Badassery Group of f*ckin´ art journalers – Volume 1

Hello there and happy 1st of August!!! My amazingly creative and talented crafty friend Tina Walker is always good for collaborations of all kinds. She has the most amazing ideas for projects and this time, well, we did art journals based on our favorite f-word quotes. So if this is not your “thing” I suggest you stop reading here…

This is the Volume 1 – there might be more journals coming later :). Here is my first take! Once more, if you find this type of projects/words not suitable, please do not read any further! I however think that creative people tend to use plenty of swear words and it´s been proven that people who swear tend to be rather intelligent…

So this is my first “Fuckery Abounds” Art Journal project – attention: this one is photo heavy..:

I´ve used my Gelli Plate to create the book page background. They are made of one single page of 12×12 paper (folded to several pages). There are plenty of book binding/folding instrucktions to be found on the internet  (I use this book for inspiration very often).

For decoration I´ve used plenty of Viva Las Vega Stamps rubber stamps – they have plenty that fit the Journal theme perfectly!!! Also I´ve used some eco dyed fabrics for the book covers – loove the look and the feel they create!!! Then there are some Posca pen details added here and there on the pages as well as some Alexandra Renke washi tape combined with a film strip washi. And I´ve used my sewing machine to add some texture to the pages.

The pages themselves are very simple, but in very bold color! I love this color combo at the moment!!!! I wanted to create a bold background for my fave f-word quotes :). And here is a flip-thru of the journal as a video:

Now go to Tina´s blog for her project and also for more links to other participants blogs to see what they created around this theme! I sure had a great time creating mine!!

Have  a great day!

Diamond with a Flaw – AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Today I´m sharing yet another art journal page with you. This time created almost solely with watercolors. I have been in a mood for creating faces into my art journal for a while now and today, finally, I brought enough courage together to try one out. And I am joining this challenge over at STAMPlorations blog with my page too:

Here is what I created:

I have plenty of watercolor layers on this page that I built up bit by bit. I started with light colours, then gradually moved towards stronger ones. Then I doodled the face very freely with Posca pens onto the page and then went from there to add even stronger color shades to create all the details, like the hair, eyes, eyebrows an the lips.

For finishing details I´ve doodled with white and black Posca marker here and there. Everything else is done with watercolors. Even the stenciling (done with one of my stencils – Rag Rug – for STAMPlorations)!!! For a fun detail I wanted to add a bold quote that I found to fit the girls face – the wonky nose and eyes really reflects the quote and vice versa.

So this is my take for the STAMPlorations watercolor challenge in July. I love how this page turned out and I had a blast creating it.

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

Art journal page

Hi there lovelies and happy weekend! Wishing yours filled with lots of sunshine, swimming, fun times with the loved ones and also some crafty time :). I am dropping by to share another art journal page with you today – something totally random, very colorful and done out of a momentary feeling which led to these results:

I´ve added lots of bits from magazines and newspapers to this page. Just fun colorful things here and there.

On the bottom I´ve used my Molecules stencil and some yellow acrylic paint. Everyting else is just paper layers. Some are colored with watercolors to make them stand out more. For finishing touches I added some Posca pen decorations, some white gesso and random rub-on residue bits. I love working in my art journal lately and I´m trying not to thing much when I start – not over-analyzing anything, just letting the feeling carry my forward. Feels good to just let things happen on their own. Messy fun!

See you soon again,
xxx, Sanna

Create something today… – STAMPlorations

Hello lovelies! It is agan time for another Stencil Sunday with STAMPlorations! This Sunday´s project is an art journal sheet, a pretty dark one actually. But first, here are the details for this months challenge (just click the image to go to the page). Hope you´ll join in with us!!! There are prizes to be won too *winks*

And now some details on how I created my art journal sheet:

Sanna Lippert, black gesso, stencil, paint pen art journal sheet

I first gessoed the art journal sheet with white gesso. Then I dabbed some Distress Paint directly to the brayer and applied it with the brayer onto the page. Sanna Lippert, black gesso, stencil, paint pen art journal sheet

Next I placed the Bold Florals ARTplorations stencil onto the page and applied modeling paste onto the sheet thru it. I slightly dried the surface with a heat gun, but only for a few seconds. Sanna Lippert, black gesso, stencil, paint pen art journal sheet

Then I took the Create STAMPlorations clear stamp set and pressed the word “ART” into the slightly dry modeling paste flowers. It left a mark (almost impossible to see on this picture). Sanna Lippert, black gesso, stencil, paint pen art journal sheet

I left the paste to dry properly and when I came back to the piece, I didn´t really like the colors I had chosen. They were too soft for my mood that day 🙂 – so I changed them… Some black gesso on top of it all and then I let it to dry again. Sanna Lippert, black gesso, stencil, paint pen art journal sheet

After the black gesso was all dried up, I took the Bundled Sage Distress Paint and dabbed some paint onto my finger. I then carefully wiped/dabbed the paint onto the stenciled, modeling paste flowers. This made them stand out more and if you look closely, you might even see the little words (ART) standing out from some flower petals. Finally I outlined the flowers with a white Posca pen, added pink, yellow and green details in betweenthe flowers and then took a white gel pen and doodled the branches (colored them in with dark green Posca pen) and added a hand written sentiment. I really, really like how this page turned out. I think I will need to try this technique out a few more times :).
