Misted Mixed Media Tag – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone and Happy Saturday! I´m up with another Mixed Media project share and tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog today. For today´s post, I wanted to create a colorful mixed media tag.

Here is what I created:

And here is how I went upon creating this tag:  I have a book af cheap watercolor papers that have a coloring image on them. I went and die cut the Stitched Nesting Tag with my die cutting machine from that paper pad. The image just adds to the layers of my tag, I don´t mind it being there at all.Next I took the Heartfelt Hibiscus stamp image and using an embossing ink pad, stamped the image onto the background quite randomly. I only left some space at the very top for the Trendy Birds 2 clear stamp images. Those are also embossed with white embossing ink, like the flower images. I heat set the embossing powder with my heat tool. After that I took a set of spray inks and applied them onto the background. In between colours I used my heat tool to dry the particular spray ink layer abit, before adding the next one. I love the gorgeous shine the spray inks add to the background. Now you can also see the random flower pattern and the birds thru the misting. I repeated the same steps like above on the single bird image, this time using black spray ink. After the spray ink was dry, I fussy cut the image. Then I took a residue piece of white cardstock (I always save small pieces of paper for purposes like this) and stamped words from the Trendy Birds 2 stamp set onto the paper. I also applied a rub-on onto the paper and then inked the background green with spray ink. Next I fussy cut every piece.I then adhered all the fussy cut pieces on place and decorated the background with Nuvo Confetti (this adds an additional sparckle). For additonal detail I added some Nuvo Mousse thru the „Rag Rug“ stencil with a palette knife here and there on the tag background. This adds an additional layer of texture and interest. For finishing touches I added some Nuvo Drops here and there and some ribbons. Here are some detail photos of the tag.

I hope you get inspired to play with stencils yourself and create a mixed media project of your own! When you do, remember to submit your project to the Mixed Media Challenge!

Art Journal Page

Hello and Happy Friday! Are you ready for a creative weekend? I sure am! The sun is finally starting to show itself a bit more which immediately uplifts me and get´s my creative mojo going! Today I am sharing an art journal page with you which actually would be perfect for a Monday post – sentiment wise, that is :).

Here is what I did:
For this page I used plenty of  STAMPlorations stencils with Distress Paints, some gesso, Posca pens and rub-ons by 7gypsies.

There is also a stamp sentiment by VivaLasVegaStamps hidden in between various layers. It says: I am still a rat in a cage… Also the star stamp is by them too. The flies on the page are by 7gypsies – Parchment Rub-Ons from the Grow set.  The stencils I used are my own designs; Cornflower, RagRug, Dream Flower, I just went with my feelings while creating this page and this is the end result of my intuitive creating session. I´m already Looking forward to the weekend and some creative time!!!

Wishing you all a lovely, crafty weekend!!

Artist Trading Coins

Hello and Happy Wednesday! Today I would like to share a set of Artist Trading Coins with you. I recently created a set of shaker cards and had a few circle pieces (in the right size!) left over from the cards, so I used them for ATCs.

First I applied some Glass Bead and Glitter Gel thru the STAMPlorations Lupinus stencil onto the surface. Next I misted the Backgrounds with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. After that I added some washi tapes and some flower ribbon to the pieces. I finished the coins with 7gypsies parchment rub-ons by applying those on white cardstock, then fussy cut them and colored them in with Glimmer Mists.

I could not resist but to add some Nuvo Crystal Drops onto the birdhouse in the end. Just a small, additional glitter detail.

I really enjoy creating Artist Trading Coins at the moment. Have you tried them yet?
Wishing you a great day,

Love themed ATC set – Tattered Angels

Hi there! Today I am sharing a set of Artist Tranding Cards (incl. a video) here on my blog. I´ve used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and Mixed Media Origins papers to create these pieces.

The backgrounds I started with, were already done. They are back from last year when I did this video series for Tattered Angels, testing various materials with Glimmer Mists and how they react with/stick to & color those materials (if you are interested on seeing more, go here).

Here is the finished ATC set. For more details (& lots more photos) on how I created these artist trading cards, see this blog post over at the Canvas Corp Brands blog!

I also prepared a process video for you to watch – hope you like it! Go HERE to see the video!

Cardboard house-box, altered – STAMPlorations

Hi there everyone, it´s my turn to share another Mixed Media Tutorial over at STAMPlorations blog today. I´ve again prepared another altered cardboard house for today´s post. Here is what the finished project looks like:

Like on my last months post, I altered this tiny house with stencils, adding texture, depth and layers using two different ones. For today´s post, I thought I´d tape a process video for you to watch – hope you like it!! So happy to see my tiny cardboard house collection growing !!

Here are the steps:
1) Apply a layer of gesso onto the cardboard base, let dry properly.
2) Take the „Lupinus“ stencil and apply Faber-Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel thru the stencil on all four sides and the roof. Leave open, untreated areas on all sides of the house. Let dry.
3) Paint the house with acrylic paint/chalkboard paint in „Tan“ tone. Let dry.
4) Rub flower/plant themed black rub-ons onto each side of the house and to the roof areas using an ice-cream stick or a rub-on tool.

5) Mix some Mirrorball glitter with the Glass Bead Glitter Gel together. Apply with a palette knife onto the house walls and the roof areas using the „Barley“ stencil. Let dry properly.
6) Add black ink droplets on all stenciled areas. Let dry.
7) Decorate with DIY paperclay and resin flowers and pink misted velvet ribbon.
8) Rub sentiment rub-ons onto white cardstock, mist the cardstock with light green spray ink and fussy cut into banners. Adhere with craft glue onto the roof next to the flowers.

This house is quite tiny indeed, I´ve taken a photo with the flower and the pineapple and the pineapple looks huge next to the house, which only measures 8 cm´s in height (approx. 3,5 inch).

I hope you have enjoyed this month´s tutorial idea and get inspired to play with your stencils and paints. While you are at it, do submit your projects to our mixed media challenge!!

I´m leaving you today with a reminder to remember to take advantage of my personal discount code. Feel free to add „STAMPGIRLSANNA“ upon checkout to receive 20% off your order!! It´s valid for regular and sale items :).

See you next month with another mixed media project again,
