More Ideas Than Time – Art Journal Page

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday!!! Can´t beliebe it´s July already. We have been enjoying VERY warm weather here in Austria the past few weeks and its not the best of weather for a knee in recovery..so lot´s of quite sleepless nights behind me. Therefore I have been trying to cope with the pains by art journaling… Hoping also this phase will pass.

So here is the latest creation:

I did  some collaging on this one and cut pieces from newspapers and jewellery advertisements for example, to use on this page. There is also some stenciling (by stencil line by STAMPlorations) on the page.

And I also added some stamping (the eye).  Highlights were added with watercolours and Posca pens.

On the background you can see some very light stenciling as I wiped thru the stencil with some Nuvo Mousse. I also matted the page with bright yellow acrylic paint before doing everything else.

I had so much fun with this page!!! Definitely going to do this type of pages more in the future. I think I am hooked ;-)…

Happy crafting,

Work on you – Art Journal Page

Hello lovelies and happy Saturday!!! How´s your weekend getting along? I hope you get to spend some time crafting and relaxing. I have yet another, this time very simple art journal page share for you today.

This one I kept very simple mainly because I wanted to focus on the quote! It´s just something that totally hit me and also one that fits my current recovery journey. Work on you – for you! What better way to put it?!

I started with a watercolor ombré background as I wanted to keep everything very simple to emphasize the quote and make it stand out. So I started by adding a light tone of pink, then moving to a purple and finally to a blue watercolor tone.

I then hand wrote the qoute with Posca pens and then used the Evolution stencil to doodle the outline with black and white Posca pens. For finishing touches I added a few blue Nuvo Embellishment Mousse splatters and draw pink stars next to them. Also again using a Posca pen.

Easy peasy and fast and effective. Felt right for today – doing this style of a page.
Wishing you a gorgeous day,

A Moment Art Journal Spread

Hello everyone and happy Thursday!!! I´m continuing with some art journal madness today again. It feels comfortable creating in my art journal at the moment, so I am sticking to it. Today, be prepared for another crazy colorful take:

Boom! How´s that for color?! This page started off with a mineral water bottle I got from my son featuring an artsy label on it. He had saved the bottle because he thought I might love it :). How well does he know me, huh?

Well I certainly loved the images on the bottle label, so I fussy cut them out and used them on this spread.

But first, I ceated a base for the spread. I used Magenta and Lemon Yellow paints with my Evolution stencil. I added some newspaper strips here and there, accompanied by washi tape strips and black pen and pencil marks.
Then for the next layer I added some turquoise acrylic paint – again using the Evolution stencil with it. Then I took a Carabelle Studio eye stamp (love this one!) and added random stamp images across the page.
For the next layer I adhered the fussy cut bottle label images onto the page, next adding some watercolor paint and blue Nuvo embellishment mousse to any white areas and colored the stamped eyes with watercolor paints also. I doodled some random patterns here and there with Posca pens, also outlining the faces with the same pens.

Then I wrote a quote with Posca pens to finish off the pages. Here are some detail shots of the pages:

Lots of layers on these pages :). I love creating this color explosion!!! That´s it for today, lovelies!

Wishing you a great end of the week, take care,
Sanna

At Home Art Journal Page

Hello lovelies and happy Tuesday! I hope you had a good start into the new week? Mine was nice, I´m slowly starting to feel better after my knee surgery – baby steps, but steps anyways! Yesterday marks 5 weeks in recovery and I am slowly getting better! Yay!!! I am not my old self yet, but I am slowly working myself back to mobility again. It was kinda hard for me to accept the fact, that it will take so much time and effort, honestly. And I know it´s not the end of the road yet, but I feel better than a few weeks back, so reason enough to celebrate little achievements. Thus this page:

I´ll also share some layers until the finished page – here is what I started with:

A layer of Mister Huey´s watercolors to start with (remember those by Studio Calico?). And then some stamping with Nuvo Hybrid Poppy Red stamp ink and the Rubber Dance Doodle Flowers stamp set.

Next some Finnabair Art Basics heavy gesso here and there.

After that some rub-on alphas, random pencil marks and fussy cut paper triangles for texture.

Next I took a palette knife and applied some acrylic paints with it very randomly onto the background. Then I draw along the color lines with Posca pens added a few rub-on animals and a Distress Oxide and Nuvo Embellishment Mousse painted die cut tag (by STAMPlorations) onto the page. Added sentiment onto that and started painting the rub-on animals with watercolour paint.

For fnishing touches I outlined the animals and the triangles with black Posca pen.

It´s a very bold page I created. I just went with what felt comfortable for me and apparently strong colors and bold is what I am going towards at the moment.

Have a great week, everyone!

Learn to rest Art Journal page – STAMPlorations mixed media tutorial

Hello everyone, it´s my turn again today to share another mixed media tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog! Are you ready for the weekend and some creative time? I am! I love creating pages for my art journal lately, so I am always very much looking forward to weekend and crafty time. Today I´d like to share another art journal page with a motivational quote with you. Here it is:

I played with my stencils again and this time, instead of using spray inks to create the background, I used Distress Paints. I love how they also react with water  and create lovely blendings onto the background.

After creating the first layer, I went and added paint directly to the stencil, then pressed the stencil onto the page to make „letterpress“ patterns on top the first layer. Also I saved all the residue ink from the kraft sheet and the stencils by wiping and dabbing it onto a spare sheet of white cardstock. I always keep one around for paint residues like this. These random pieces can be added as bits or as a background to a future project.

Next I placed the stencil onto the page and dabbed some pink paint thru the flower stencil directly onto the page, creating flowers. I also started with the lightest tones of paint and gradually added darker shades to create more depth and contrast.

One of the stencil got used as a doodling guide to create the leaf patterns here and there. Then I just simply colored (very randomly) them with a darker green tone of paint and a water tank brush.

In the end I added several tones of spray inks as splatters onto the page and also drew some additional patterns with paint pens here and there.

Finally, all I needed to do, was to add the quote. I just first made sure the paint layers were all dry. Otherwise I´d ruin my pen with the wet paint. If you have tried to write on wet paint once or twice, you learn to be patient  :-). I´ve again recorded a start-to-finish for you to watch! Hope you enjoy the video!

Happy stenciling!!
