Get inspired by a moodboard – Paperilla-lehti

Hi there lovelies! Today it is again my turn to share with you a project at the Paperilla magazine´s blog. This time it is all about getting inspired by a moodboard. This particular one was put up by myself, the photos are all from Pinterest (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

this is how my „DIY“ moodboard inspired layout turned out:

I got inspired mainly by the colours. In addition I lined the bright papers that are tucked behind the photo somewhat in the middle of the layout ( the line up is inspired by the pile of pillows and the ball of wool photo). See the photo on the lower left corner of the moodboard. I took some stars into my layout from there, but then I also divided/cut my background papers to match the 2/3-1/3 division of the photo background. Colours are obviously inspired by all the photos. Then I drew some signs onto the background. They build the journaling of the page and are also inspired by the lower right corner photos. I drew all the text and images myself. The biggest sign is also inspired by the right upper corner signs (see the numbers there :)..). So a moodboard can be interpreted in such many ways. Some of them very obvious and some of them can be just tiny parts from here and there that lead to an idea.

Even thought I am not a fan of my own handwriting, I chose to do all the journaling and drawing myself. Since this is a page about me, I found that I should stay true to myself and use my own handwriting. Would be interesting to see how you would interpret this moodboard! Next time, when you are looking for inspiration, why not gather some images together and build your very own moodboard and get inspired by it!! And if you are not familiar with photo editing programs, just cut and gather some nice images together and glue them down on a piece of paper or hang them on a wall in front of you. AND have fun!!!!

Happy scrapping,
xoxo, Sanna

This way for smiles! – Off the Rails Scrapbooking

Hello there! Isn´t the Off the Rails August colour palette just gorgeous??!! I love it!! And since this months sponsor is Lawn Fawn and I happen to own some of their products, I have combined both of the themes for my inspirational step-by-step card project :).  This is a August color combo inspired Lawn Fawn product card tutorial.

Here is how I created the card:

I first cut five pieces of watercolour paper and sprayed them with various spray inks (Dylusions, Tattered Angels, Heidi Swapp and Lindy´s Stamp Gang). I mainly kept to red, orange and purple tones.

When the paper was dry, I took my „This way to fun for SC“ Lawn Fawn stamp set and stamped arrows with black dye ink onto each paper piece.

Then I fussy cut them.

Next I glued the arrows down on my card base and chose a sentiment stamp from the stamp set for stamping. See how the sentiment consists of three different words? I only wanted to stamp one word onto one arrow, so I only partly inked the sentiment stamp and then pressed the inked image onto paper. This way I can vary where my words will be on the card and since the arrows/chevrons are so small, there is only place for one word per chevron.

Next I opened the card and stamped smileys inside the card and colored those with markers.

I then added a Lawn Fawn trimming in the middle of the card for additional detail.

Finally I also added some additional stamping into the chevron patterns for more eye candy/detail. Now my card was done. I hope you have enjoyed this little step-by-step and get inspired to create with the lovely colour palette from August. I really like the Lawn Fawn products too, especially the stamps (you know I´m a stamp lover in general, right?) as they are very versatile and they have many kinds of designs and really tiny images too that can be combined in so many ways!!

This is the finished card – inside and outside :).

Happy crafting!! And hope to see you join in on the August challenge!!

Quirky Kit blog hop w/ Scrap365

Hello there, lovelies!!! Scrap365 have joined forces with the fabulous Quirky Kit girls to show you just how economical, exciting and inspirational subscribing to a kit can be!!

Quirky Kits have a choice of three kits – Main, Lite and Embellishment; all of which are delivered bi-monthly.

Leonora and her team have kindly given us the beautiful ‚It’s My Party‘ Main Kit to give away as a prize:

The DT have all been playing with one or more of the current Quirky Kits to show you just how versatile they are; and how they suit any style of scrapping!

So let’s get started. First off we were given a sketch to use as a jumping off point. I like to use sketches as a starting point here and now. I tend to use the sketch as it is, not just picking some details and get inspired by those. I really liked this one, because it has lots of white space on it and all the tiny photos are clustered together with the papers and embellishments.

Other than that I really liked the A4 size!! And it also perfectly fit my photos 🙂 !!! Here is what I made. You might notice I didn´t use a flower…why?..well, it is a boy page..

I have also created a little card based on the same sketch using some leftover pieces from the previous layout. And there is still so much product left over that I can easily create 1 or 2 layouts and/or several cards!!

Just in case you were wondering, I used the Shiny Happy People Quirky Kit Lite for my layout and card 🙂 .
Here’s a list of all the girls that are playing along today. Please make sure that you:

1) leave some love on every hoppee’s blog
2) like Scrap365 on Facebook and
3) follow the Quirky Kits blog

so that we can put you into the draw to win the MAY/JUNE ‚It’s My Party‘ Main Kit!! The draw for the winner will be made (and announced) at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 4th!! Here are the blogs you need to hop thru:
