Home is… – The Nifty Pixel

Hello there lovelies!! It has been a while I shared a hybrid layout tutorial with you, so here it finally is!!! This time I´m sharing a layout created with the absolutely gorgeous WHO LIVES HERE digital kit by The Nifty Pixel. Just take a look at these fun, happy and bright designs!!! I LOVE them!!

Who Lives Here? | Collection

I always start digital. That means I start by designing my own background paper first. I do that by combining and layering various elements, papers and designs from the kit to create a starting point. Then I print the DIY hybrid paper with my Epson A3 format color printer and from there it´s all hybrid.

Sanna LippertNext I choose a regular cardstock to glue my in size cut hybrid paper on and pick some photos I want to use with the papers.

Sanna LippertOf course there have to be some black splatters of some kind – I am severy addicted in using those ;-). This time I used black texture spray from Imagine Crafts.

Sanna LippertSince there is already quite much going on on the background with all the colors and textures, I found that I didn´t need that much additional detail, so I just added some small bits and pieces here and there in clusters.

Sanna LippertSome chipboard clouds, badges and puffy stickers did the trick for me.

Sanna LippertFinally I just added the sentiment: „Home is where my heart is!“ and stamped the date here and there with the date stamp. You can get those from a regular office supply store.

Sanna LippertI really like creating this kind of hybrid layouts as you can add designs over each other and create an „almost finished“ starting point and adjust and modify it as long as you get it right and first print it when you are happy with it.

Creating layouts can be really fast this way as there will be hardly any drying times and waiting for a layer to dry before moving over to the next step. Here is the finished layout:

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertThis kit was perfect for my photos. We´ve been thru a process of renovating a house for six years and were so thrilled to finally be able to move in to our new home. As fas as I am concerned, this can be our last big building project. I was glad to be able to create a layout about the place where our heart is.

I do hope you will get inspired to try some digital/hybrid scrapbooking out. It can be such a fun process! And I am by no means a professional/skilled digi scapper, so if I can do it, you can do it too :). Have fun!!!!

Happy hybrid scrapbooking,
xxx, Sanna

No place like home – Mixed Media Card Challenge December Reveal

Hi there! And here comes yet another new challenge for you!!! This one went online at The Mixed Media Card Challenge blog yesterday!! This months theme is to create a mixed media card around the theme „home“. You can interpret this theme the way you want. As an additional detail you are asked to used „lace“.

Here are the rules, just in case you forgot:
HOW TO PLAY
1. Create a mixed media CARD based on the theme, with or without the optional element.
2. Display the challenge graphic on your blog post and link back to this challenge post.
3. You may enter as many times as you want, as long as each entry is different.
4. You may combine a maximum of 7 challenges (6 other challenges plus ours).
5. Submit your projects by December 25, 11:55 p.m. PST (GMT -800).
6. We’ll announce the winner and highlights on December 31.

And this is my take on the challenge:

I first placed a piece of lace over the card base and sprayed some Heidi Swapp Color Shine over the surface. It created a nice lace pattern onto the background. I then applied some golden melted crayon splatters here and there for additional detail. After that I ligned three chipboard houses next to each other, coloured them with markers and applied a coat of cracle accents over them. Then I just stamped the sentiment, adhered it on it´s place and added some chipboard hearts, treated with golden glitter glue, underneath. The faux stitching around the edges is hand drawn.

And how it is your turn! Go and create some home themed cards, lovelies!! And make sure you check out what the the rest of the team created! ..and prepare to be amazed! I just love their creations!!!

Have fun with this one and see you at MMCC!!
