The F*ckin´ Badassery Group of f*ckin´ art journalers – Volume 1

Hello there and happy 1st of August!!! My amazingly creative and talented crafty friend Tina Walker is always good for collaborations of all kinds. She has the most amazing ideas for projects and this time, well, we did art journals based on our favorite f-word quotes. So if this is not your „thing“ I suggest you stop reading here…

This is the Volume 1 – there might be more journals coming later :). Here is my first take! Once more, if you find this type of projects/words not suitable, please do not read any further! I however think that creative people tend to use plenty of swear words and it´s been proven that people who swear tend to be rather intelligent…

So this is my first „Fuckery Abounds“ Art Journal project – attention: this one is photo heavy..:

I´ve used my Gelli Plate to create the book page background. They are made of one single page of 12×12 paper (folded to several pages). There are plenty of book binding/folding instrucktions to be found on the internet  (I use this book for inspiration very often).

For decoration I´ve used plenty of Viva Las Vega Stamps rubber stamps – they have plenty that fit the Journal theme perfectly!!! Also I´ve used some eco dyed fabrics for the book covers – loove the look and the feel they create!!! Then there are some Posca pen details added here and there on the pages as well as some Alexandra Renke washi tape combined with a film strip washi. And I´ve used my sewing machine to add some texture to the pages.

The pages themselves are very simple, but in very bold color! I love this color combo at the moment!!!! I wanted to create a bold background for my fave f-word quotes :). And here is a flip-thru of the journal as a video:

Now go to Tina´s blog for her project and also for more links to other participants blogs to see what they created around this theme! I sure had a great time creating mine!!

Have  a great day!

Go see do Art Journal Page

Hi there and happy Wednesday!!! Today I´m again dropping by my blog to share another art journal page with you all. This time the theme is about travelling. I have a huge bucket list to work thru and I love to go to new places which I sadly cannot do this year due to my surgery, but soon, soon hopefully travel plans can be added to my calendar :).

Thus the travel themed page today:

I´ve added lots of bits and bobs to this page. There is some paint on the background, then I added some gelli plate transfer tissue pieces (see the lady´s face in the middle?). That piece is one of those.

I fussy cut and added a world map in pieces onto the page, then did some stamping, journaling and adhered random fussy cut pieces here and there.

I had a great time creating this page and dreaming about future travels :). Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

Changes are coming AJ page

Hello lovelies and happy Wednesday! While recovering from my knee surgery during the past weeks, life has been somewhat a rollercoaster ride, and I really haven´t been able to do crafting as much as I would have loved to do, due to mobility and other health issues, which I never thought to be so exhausting and also frustrating.

Art journaling from time to time has given me a media to process all the things that have happened during this process of healing and keeping a journal has been one of the only ways to actually craft at the moment. So it´s kept me sane in a way.

Here is one of my recent ones:

I don´t need much for such a page. Just some watercolors and pens and some random bits and pieces. Easy to do and still a way to get some of my feeling and/or thoughts on paper.

This last one „changes are coming“ is a posivite note. Yes, I´ve been thru alot the past weeks and yes, it was tough at times, but eventually, I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel and the changes happening from now on will be chanelled towards positive changes. So here´s to a start of a new path for me :).

Happy crafting,

TAGplorations October challenge reminder

Hello there lovelies! Time to remind you of the TAGplorations monthly challenge. Remember the theme was FALL and as optional elements you can use colors ORANGE, RED and GOLD. There is still plenty of time to join in on this challenge, so start creating and play along! Here is my reminder tag for additional inspiration:

For this tag I´ve first die cut the red paper with the Tag #1 Nesting Dies (from the STAMPlorations store – see details at the end of this post). Then I´ve take a piece of tissue paper that came as a parcel filling and treated that piece with acrylic paints, a Gelli Plate and Hidden Hearts stencil to create pattern onto the tissue paper. Next I stamped some circles onto the paper and fussy cut them along the edges. They are adhered onto the tag with a matte varnish.

I then added some heavy paint thru a stencil (Forest of Leaves by STAMPlorations) on top of the images, let that dry and decorated with a rhinestone birdie, a goldgen leaf paperclip, a paper flower and a stamped, fussy cut image (stamp by STAMPlorations – see details at the end of this post). I had so much fun creating this tag. It was messy and in the middle of the process (when adding color to the tissue paper) my kids came to my scrap room and the look on their face said more than words ever could. Carefully they asked what on earch I was doing :)… Well, it might have looked kinda crazy to them, but in the end, when the pieces found their places, the tag turned out really to my liking. No matter what my kids might think of me/it ;-)…

So now is your time to get messy (or maybe not!). Remind you of the rules on how to play along (see the blog for details) and start creating! There are nice prizes to be won and lot´s of fun to be had just waiting for you!! Hope to see you join our challenge!

Happy crafting,

Stenciled, gel press background – STAMPlorations

Hello there everyone, here comes my STAMPlorations mixed media tutorial and start-to-finish video. I thought I´d create a scrapbook layout this time for a change. This is the layout I created using various ARTplorations stencils:

Here is how I created the layout:

1. Take a piece of residue paper and a piece of white cardstock, some acrylic paints in your favorite colours and a small Gelli plate and a brayer.

2. Add a few drops (very little paint goes a long way here!) of acrylic paint onto the Gelli plate, spread onto the surface with a brayer. See the video on more details!

3. Press the Gelli plate surface onto the cardstock and press lightly. Remove plate and you have a lovely paint press image on the paper.

4. Change the color and apply the paint like explained in the steps before. Next place a stencil over the acrylic paint area and roll over gently with the brayer. Next remove the stencil and press the image onto the cardstock piece. This time you will see a pattern in the finished image. Repeat and experiment with various colours and stencil patterns.

5. Take a patterned paper and the „X marks the Spot“ stencil and start applying some modeling paste onto the background thru the stencil with a palette knife. Let dry.

6. Cut the Gelli Plate images into triangles in various sizes. Arrange onto the background, take a photo with your mobile phone to make sure you don´t forget the order. Remove the triangles and apply spray ink splatters onto the background. Let dry.

7. Take „Trendy Feathers 2“ clear stamp set and stamp words onto the background with a gray and black stamp ink very randomly. Stamp more words and a sentiment onto white paper and fussy cut the pieces along the edges. Now adhere the triangles back to the patterned paper surface, add more stamping onto the background, if necessary.

8. Apply some modeling paste with the same „X marks the Spot“ stencil over the triangles for a fun detail. Let dry.

9. Embellish with stickers, wood veneer, puffy stickers and add a alpha sticker title. Adhere the fussy cut words onto the background with the photos. Add a date stamp and write the journaling for the page.

10. Finally add some black texture splatters here and there for additional detail.

Here is the video for more details and step-by-step. All used products are listed on the video. Hope you enjoy!

I hope you get inspired to try out your own gel press, stenciled images and maybe even a fun scrapbook layout with them! Have fun!

Happy scrapping,

xxx, Sanna
