Clean and simple card backgrunds with nesting dies – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday!!! Today I´m again stopping by to share yet another card guest design team project with you, created with Elizabeth Craft Designs products. For today´s project I wanted to share a set of cards, created with basic nesting dies. I wanted to show you how easily you can make fun and colorful card backgrounds in clean and simple style.

You only need a selection of basic fitted dies (for exampe rectangles, stars, hexacons or squares), a stamp set and a selection of colored cardstock. I chose to do a more monochromatic pattern on the above cards, but you could do more variation by picking all colours of the rainbow for a background. Here is how these cards were done:

Step 1: Pick three colours of cardstock in similar tones (I used grey, teal and blue tones). Then pick three of the smaller sized nesting Stitched Rectangles and die cut two pieces each with the smaller dies from the cardstock and one bigger sized piece.

Step 2: Arrange the pieces onto a card base and adhere them on place with Clear Double Sided Tape. Flip the card over and cut any excess pieces with scissors.

Step 3: Take a piece of black cardstock and stamp a sentiment with the “Build Your Own Sentiment 1” stamp set using embossing ink and fine white embossing powder. Heat set the powder with a heat tool and adhere the sentiment onto the card with 3D foam pads. For additional detail you can add some embossed stars around the sentiment and a few Craft Drops, if you want to.

I´ve also recorded a video step-by-step for you to watch to give a better idea on each step. Hope you like it!

And as you can see, by changing the dies and cardstock colours as well as varying the sentiments, you can create cards for various occations using the same basic idea.

I hope you get inspired by these cards and give all your basic nesting die cut dies a try with various cardstock combinations. This is also so much fun, because you can make several at once and depending on colour and chosen sentiment, they go for so many occations.

See you again with another tutorial next month!! Until then, happy crafting!!

Clean and simple hexagon cards – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello lovelies and happy Sunday! Today I am again up over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog with a set of clean and simple cards, created using basic die cut dies. My idea was to create a background pattern solely with the hexagon die to show you, that a simple basic die can be used in fun ways!

I also wanted to have a fun and colorful pattern, so I used Distress Inks in three different tones to create a blended color pattern. What better sentiment to add to a card like this than the „wishing you a colorful day“ one :).

I also did a second card in the same manner, this time using the Stitched Hexagons die cut die and another color scheme. This time I used pink, orange and yellow. Also on this card I didn´t do any water splatters. And that again creates a slightly different look to my second card.

I´ve also recorded a video about the card making process for you to watch – I hope you like it! For even more details on the cards and the process, hop over to the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

That´s it from me for today, I´ll be sharing another guest designer blog post for Elizabeth Craft Designs in June, so do stop by my (and their) blog for more in June.

Wishing you a great, crafty day!
