Hello there, lovelies! A bit late, but still 1st of October tonight and therefore time for the new Mixed Media Card Challenge for October!! This time it´s all about vintage. As optional aelement you can add a key.
I am not very good at vintage. So I went and googled the word vintage and found a definition for it that I could live with. In fashion you could call old jeans „vintage“ so I figured, I could use older product to create a „vintage“ card. And this is what I came up with:
Those velvet ribbon flowers for me represent vintage in a way. Also the old fashioned stamp images of keys, locks and swirls are kind of old looking too :).
Also a little bit about how I created the card: I first applied/wiped a layer of Distress Stain onto the background to create a kind of „faux watercolour“ background. After that I went along and stamped the stamp images in two tones of browns over the blue layer. Next I hand drew (very freely) some lines with a golden glitter glue to create a „net“ over the previous layers and finally I also added some blue and white inks splatters here and there.
For decoration I chose an old Basic Grey sticker, doodled with copper glitter glue around it and then added the flowers. The sentiment stamp is by Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday and I cut it in half.
Now it is your turn to create a vintage card for this challenge!! We are very eager to see what you come up with!! See you at MMCC :),
Hello lovelies!!! It is time to share the next Mixed Media Card Challenge (#2) with you!! This time the theme is summer and you can use burlap as an optional element.
The theme is open to interpretation. Take your cue from the word, „summer“. What does it make you think of? Be as messy or clean as you want to be…as long as you go beyond using just your inks and stamps!
HOW TO PLAY
1. Create a mixed media CARD based on the theme, with or without the optional element.
2. Display the challenge graphic on your blog post and link back to this challenge post.
3. You may enter as many times as you want, as long as each entry is different.
4. You may combine a maximum of 7 challenges (6 other challenges plus ours).
5. Submit your projects by August 25, 11:55 p.m. PDT (GMT -700).
6. We’ll announce the winner and highlights on August 31.
So what did I do? I was thinking about the season „summer“ and it immediately made me think of bright and happy colours, flowers and sunshine. Thus the bright faux watercolour background.
I then fussy cut several circles from bright coloured canvas and layered them over each other to form a flower. Next I fussy cut some leaves from burlap. I outlined the card with some doodled flower pattern and stamped the sentiment into a frame. Finally I decorated the card with some rhinestone swirls. It was great fun creating this card :).
Now go and check out what my design team colleagues have been up to!! I guarantee, you will get inspired!!! Looking forward to seeing your submissions!!!
Oh flue, how I hate thee!!! Perfect time to prepare some „get well soon“ cards, don´t you think? I made this card using chipboard elements from Wycinanka and also made a little photo step-by-step tutorial to go with the card. Hope you like the idea!
You will need a brayer, a card base, some Distress Inks, a chipboard element (I used the bridge), glue, water mist bottle and some embellishments of your choice. First apply some brown ink onto the woodgrain stamp. Then place the chipboard element on it and roll over the chipboard with a brayer. This way you will get an even stamp image. Then create a background for your card with Distress Inks and water. After that glue the chipboard image down to the card. Apply embellishments and cover the chipboard with „Crackle Accents“. Let dry. Then stamp the sentiment and your card is done.
