Art AJ page

Hello and happy Sunday!!! Now this is just random play, but I love the colours. A little something to bring me joy while I´m still missing my mojo. I just added stuff until I felt like there was nothing more to add – also obviously because the page was already so full (LOL).

I first painted the background in two colours – apricot and blue and then went from there. I added some writing with Posca pens onto the background. Just random things I felt like writing down.

Next I took the Carabelle circle stencil out and added some DWM gloss sprays thru it onto the background. Next I added random splots of spray onto the upper part and let them from droppings to the page. While that was drying I sprayed some residue chipboard with the gloss sprays and also pressed some gloss spray to the „tag“ and then stamped the words onto the tag.

For finishing touches I added the sprayed chipboard and some fussy cut circles from another AJ page shared here previously. Then I did some details with Posca pens and added some Thickers for additional detail. That´s it!

Making this crazy mess felt much better already. So I´m hoping my mojo will soon return from whereever it went :).

Have a great Sunday and a good start into the new week!

A set of DWM tags

Hello and happy Friday! Today I´m stopping by with another tag share. These, again are created with plenty of Dina Wakley Media product. I am so enjoying this at the moment!

These are again done using plenty of gloss sprays, but also Dina´s heavy body paints as well as her collage collective book, her washi and tissue paper. The stencils on the right tag are all by The Crafter´s Workshop and the little words are handmade by my friend Lizzy. I adore them!

This background is pressed on splots of gloss sprays. Repeatedly. After the spray was dry, I attached the tissue paper image with gel medium and colored the face with Distress Crayons by Tim Holtz. The word is by my friend Lizzy and the red circle is from Dina´s collage collective book.

For this tag I was simply dabbing residue paint thru a stencil. Both paints by Dina. Then I sprayed the gorgeous lemon gloss spray on top. Let that layer dry and added the fussy cut circles from Dina´s collage collective book. Then some washi, the handmade word and some journaling.

I really like how these tags turned out. I might keep them as they are and even frame them OR I´ll add them to a journal page later. Time will tell.

I´m hoping the next weeks will be better, weather wise, because I am on vacation. Ha! So funny, doing a vacation without going anywhere special. Well, strange times require unusual measures. So no vacay.. I didn´t have one last summer due to my first knee surgery and now the second knee and covid19. I sure hope next year will be better (fingers crossed). I so, so, so miss the sand and the sea. What about you? Any plans?

Wishing you a nice day and weekend!!

Unique AJ page

Hello and happy Thursday!!! Today I´m stopping by to share yet another peek into my art journal. This page started off with crazy Dina Wakley gloss spray layering. And then it turned out to this:

This, by the way was the before:

I had so many layers of gloss spray on that page that is was just about to turn into a color mud. But I saved it! I applied black chalkboard paint and only let some areas of the original background (the circles) show thru.

I then applied some yellow and sand toned acrylic paint (by Dina Wakley) around the circles and grabbed a paint comb and moved it across the page. I love the end result it created!! I have some stenciling going on on the background too and I love how the magenta gloss spray really pops form the circle.

I then fussy cut some hearts from the Collage Collective book by Dina and added the hearts, some silver watercolour splatters and some turquoise heavy body paint dots to the page. Then just a nice word to go with it all (done by my dear friend Lizzy in her handwriting).

Such a crazy page, but I love it! I really like the comb effect and the colours.

Wishing you a fun, creative day!

Be authentic AJ page

Hello and happy Saturday! Today I´m sharing another art journal face with you. This time, I went with what I grabbed – my color choices are odd (I am not an orange person very much), but I just grabbed something I don´t use that often and went from there.

I also had created random circles onto the background and didn´t like them that much, so I let them „disappear“ in the background and added lime green to the orange. I know – quite a color combination, isn´t it? And then there is was, the bold background and I didn´t quite know how to continue. So I just drew a face, I gave her black hair to distrackt a bit from the crazy background colours and I kept her face really simple.

I just drew the eyes, a tiny part of the nose and very simple lips. I didn´t even color her properly. I just added tone to her cheeks and some to the eyes and lips. Then I felt like adding the heavy body paint (by Dina Wakley) thru a stencil on top of it all. And it works really well. After that I added the words/text with a white Posca pen. For finishing touches I added some splatters and black stars in a row with a stamp.

This page is a reminder to be braver and authentic. Each face I make – even though I´m still learning and dabbling in face drawing – has it´s own look, they are genuine in their own way. Unique even. And always a result of different types of feeling from that particular day when I was creating them. So they differ in looks and style. And that´s ok. I´m going more towards quantity when art journaling. That will hopefully lead me to finding my own face drawing style sooner :).

Have a fabulous Saturday and weekend, lovelies!!!

Do Good AJ page

Hello there and happy Monday evening! I´m stopping by to share an art journal page with you. This one is just random play, while trying to get my mind free of things bothering me.

How´s your Monday getting along? I feel drained after work today – already can hear my bed calling my name *LOL*. I think it´s partly because of the back paint I´ve been experiencing lately. Still some side-effects emerging from time to time, post surgery, I think.

Art usually helps – but I feel too tired for that even. What is your recipy for overcoming total tiredness? Except for the obvious – sleep? When I´m this drained, it usually affects my mood in a bad way and I really hate, when that happens. So if you have any tips for survival, I´m all ears!!!

Like mentioned before, this page is just a result of random play. I misted a background with spray ink, putting fussy cut circles here and there. Then I outlined the circles with black paint, waited for that layer to dry and added Distress Crayons. I also removed some of the crayon with a baby wipe (thru a stencil). That way the stencil pattern appears. The stamping is a planner stamp set by Elizabeth Craft Designs and other than that I used a STAMPlorations stencil to create the crackle paste images. For finishing touches I added a quote.

OK, that´s all from me today. I´m feeling bedtime coming earlier today 🙂

This week can only get better from here on 😀 – wishing you a lovely, creative week!!!
