January Mixed Media Challenge reveal – STAMPlorations

Hi there, we are starting the new year off with a bunch of challenges at STAMPlorations. Today it´s time to share the January Mixed Media challenge with you.

Here is what I made for the challenge reveal – a art journal sheet with a motivational quote:

I´ve said it before, and I´m saying it again here. I LOVE QUOTES! My art journal features many quotes and I find that the pages I like the most are the ones with motivational quotes. I am also starting to like my handwriting a lot better. I´ve found a way to add it to my work in a way that is is pleasing to the eye. This has not always been the case. I´m glad that I´ve figured my type of lettering out for me :).

What I also love is color. So I´ve added plenty of that here. I added water to the background and then picked some Glimmer Mist spray inks with a paint brush from the spray bottles and let them spread into the wet page on their own. I REALLY LIKE the results. It´s a happy page that makes me feel really motivated and positive about the new year.

After the spray ink had dried, I added the stamped bird images (STAMPlorations stamp) onto the page and finally finished the page off with some stenciling. I draw the stencil pattern onto the page with a fine tip black pen, then inked the leaves with blue Glimmer Mist and after all the layers had dried properly, took a Posca pen and wrote the motivantional quote to the page. It´s easy to say that this is my fave page so far, as it happens to be my first AJ page this year. LOL! But I really, really like how it turned out. Note to self: create more pages!

OK, so now it´s again your turn to make some mixed media art and join our challenge with your projects! Read the rules on how to play along here and then submit your work! Would love to see you join in and play along with us! There are also prizes to be won, so go on and get your creativity mode on :). Have fun and see you at STAMPlorations!

xxx, Sanna

Hello – you are brilliant

I love the challenges over at Paperdvizhnik!! They have such fab, artsy sketches and very cool color combos. Too bad that I hardly ever find the time to join in on their challenges. But now I did. And I loved it. I am definitely not a fan of orange, but quess what, I loved using it here!! Loved, loved, loved the combo (challenge no. 43) and how the colours look together. I think I will need to change my opinion on the colour orange 😀 !!

Have you noticed that I have a circle phase going on? Might have something to do with my custom stamp set by 3rd Eye??? Could be..(oh, by the way, if you are interested in ordering the stamp and it sould be temporarily out of stock, make a preorder directly via email to 3rdeye(at)wp.eu).. Anyhow, I really, really like to use circles recently. Don´t know why, but they make me happy. And it´s good to do things that make you happy, right? So I´m sticking to my circles then *laughing*.

Another funny thing: I have quite a few flair badges in my stash, but can you imagine that these were the only two that perfectly fit the color sheme. Only these two!!! I had pink, blue, green and yellow ones (plenty!!), but only one in B&W and one with white and orange. I´m thinking I might need to change my shopping habits in the future. Like in not only picking the colors I like, but trying to get a wider color range of product. You never know when it might come handy ;-)..

Other than that I have used the new Dina Wakley heavy body acrylic paints on the background. Love the colors!! Bright and happy!! Goes perfectly with the b&w SODAlicious paper :).

And of course some stamping (the title is a custom carved stamp image) and Glimmer Glaze in there too (not surprised, are you ;-)..)…and rub-ons…all kinds of things I love to use :).

So this is my take on the challenge. And I also spotted a nice challenge over at Skrapki-Wyzwaniowo. That one is about a song (challenge no. 103). I bet you all know the Lionel Richie song “Hello”? My title is inspired by this song. So I am also submitting this layout to that challenge. Ahh, feels good to find some spare time to join in on a couple of challenges :).

Happy scrapping,
xoxo, Sanna
