Hi everyone, today I´d like to share a set of Snowflake cards, created with Elizabeth Craft Designs product, with you. I know that it is a bit early for winter themed cards, but the minute I saw the Brrrr-sentiment die cut die, I had to make something fun with it. Here are a few ideas on how to use the same die cut dies in different ways.
Here is how I created the two cards and the present tag:
Step 1: Take a piece of True Blue and White Soft Finish Cardstock and cut those into a size of 14,5 x 10 cm. Then cut a piece of Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock into the same width, but slightly longer. Attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet onto the back of the Soft Sky toned cardstock piece and start by cutting one Brrrr sentiment and several little snowflakes out of that paper with your die cutting machine.
Step 2: Now adhere the True Blue piece onto a white card base and start adhering the Soft Sky toned snowflakes on top. Also adhere the Brrrr sentiment onto the bottom part of the card.
Step 3: Now die cut 3 more Brrrr sentiments out of white cardstock and adhere those on top of the light blue one. This way your get a dimensional sentiment for your card.
Step 4: After adhering all sentiment pieces on top of each other, add a thin layer of Crackle Accents on top for additional frosty effect. Let dry properly.
Step 5: Take a small piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut some tiny hearts – heart from the Poppy the Owl set – and then color them with a red marker. Add a “cuddle weather” hand written sentiment underneath the die cut word and adhere the hearts around the words. Next apply some Crackle Accents on top of the hearts. Let air dry properly.
Step 6: Now that we still have a really nice piece of leftover cardstock from the first project, why not create a second card with the negative piece. Adhere the Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock leftover piece onto a piece of Café au Lait Soft Finish Cardstock piece.
Step 7: Take the Fitted Frames 3 Curvy Rectangles die cut die and die cut a piece of Café au Lait Soft Finish Cardstock with it. Use the biggest frame for this card and safe the other pieces for another project.
Step 8: Adhere the Soft Sky snowflake background piece on a white card base and then adhere the frame on top. Add white texture spray splatters onto the light blue surface for additional interest. Let air dry. 
Step 9: Cut two Brrrr words from the Café au Lait paper and one additional one out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Layer on top of each other leaving the white piece on top.
Step 10: Apple some Crackle Accents on top of the sentiment for additional interest. Decorate with a white gel pen and some light blue half pearls.
Step 11: Now we still have the protection sheet pieces of the snowflake die cut piece left over. You can use both parts, the negative and the positive to decorate yet further backgrounds. Use them as a stencil with inks and/or glitter. I chose to use only the small snowflakes on a white tag to create a fun glitter snowflake background. First adhere a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive onto the tag, then attach the little snowflake sheet pieces onto the adhesive.
Step 12: Apply a first layer of glitter onto the sticky surface (just in case you want to see a how-to tutorial on that, follow this link to a video tutorial), use a paint brush to brush off any residue glitter. Then use your finger to polish the glitter and only after that remove the little snowflake pieces. I used the Royal Teal Silk Microfine Glitter tone for this layer.
Step 13: For the second layer apply the Dark Mint Silk Microfine Glitter tone over the surface, then brush off the residue with a paint brush and polish the surface with your finger. The stronger the tone different between the glitter colors, the better the contrast.
Step 14: Die cut the Merry Christmas sentiment from a piece of Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock and adhere onto the tag. Decorate with ribbon, lace and a Fimo DIY mold button. Now all three pieces are done. There would still be the option to use the negative die cut protection sheet of the adhesive as a stencil with ink. Thank would be a perfect DIY stencil for creating yet another fun snowflake background. I did´t give that a try, but you could. Here are the final projects once more:
See how you start with one card and that leads to another and yet another idea and in the end you have created a bunch of project at once only by using all the bits and pieces and adding small details as you go. This is actually a winter release, but the fun thing about these die cut dies is that they can actually be used for various seasons and purposes!
Here both the upper and lower card are made using the same die cut set – one with a stand and one without immediately creates a totally different kind of card.
