Mixed Media Layout – Frog Dog Studio

Hello there! Here comes my next to last project with the Frog Dog May Mixed Media kit. For this layout I wanted mainly to use the Stampendous stamps set (by Nathalie Kalbach). I just love these designs!! And there is also a free template included in the stamp set, by the way!!! Therefore, be prepared for yet another simply stencils project 🙂 …

This is how I did the layout background:

I first sprayed some yellow and green spray ink directly onto the white cardstock. The colours I used are by Lindy´s Stamp Gang (Yellow Rose of Texas and Rusty Lantern Lime).

Next I took some black and grey dye ink and stamped with the “Wired” stamp set near the areas where my photos would later be. The grey ink is a shadow ink and will end up being a much lighter tone, when dry.

After that I applied some black Glimmer Glaze and created random ink splatters for contrast.

I really like adding ink splatters to my layout background so I added a few more :). This time I first used the “New Sprout” ink spray (from the kit). And a Lindy´s Starburst colour “Shabby Turbine Teal”.

Then I proceeded by placing the stencil that was included in the stamp set over the cardstock and dabbed randomly over the stencil with VersaMark ink.

After that I just first poured some grey embossing powder over the inked area and after that added the green powder. Then I just heated the powder with a heat gun.

This is how my background looked before adding the photos, embellishments, the title and journaling.

This is the finished layout. I added some vellum paper to the edges and painted it with the blue “Beach Hut” (this tone comes with the kit – more colors here) tone and stamped with black dye ink and the circle dot stamp from the kit over it. I love the look of the vellum when painted with the Fresco Paints!! I also treated the wooden heart with the light green chalk ink that was in the kit. Other than that I left the embellishments as they were (untreated).

and here are a few detail shots:

I hope you have enjoyed this little step-by-step and get those stencils and stamps out and play a little 🙂 !!

I have used pretty much all my favorite products on this layout: stencils, mixed media pastes and sprays, stamps, stamp ink, gorgeous papers by Crate Paper, stickers and wood veneer. All these things make my heart beat faster at the moment 🙂 !

I also used some sequins on this page again. Love these golden ones! I have previously glued them down using a regular paper glue, but found out that it is much easier to use glue dots for this purpose. Besides, this way they will not come off when you tuck your pages into a photo album :)….

For some reason this color combination makes me think of ice cream – I only wish the weather would get warmer soon so that we actually could go and enjoy some ice cream. With +5 degrees outside there is just not much point to it, is there…

I have hidden the journaling behind the photo. It is written on a small Manila tag.

This layout is based on the current OUAS challenge. The challenge was to create a page about a day that changed ones life. Well, I am certain the day my DS became a pre-schooler very much changed all our lives. All of a sudden he had to do “homework”, practise and draw all the time (not one of his favorite things to do, by the way) and get used to timetables. It definitely was a big change for him and for me – not being a small kiddo anymore. My journaling is all about my sons awakening to the fact that he suddenly had to follow timetables and draw alot. Which he hated, mainly because it was all premade chores with no place for creativity. Funny enough, at real school he found the handicrafts and drawing classes a lot of fun. I just wanted to document the fact how much he disliked the pre-school phase in his life, so that when he will be bigger, he can have a good laugh at it all (but he hid it really well, didn´t he, you could not really tell from this photo that the pre-school teacher took of him, could you?).

So this is my take on the Once Upon A Challenge April Challenge – Part 2.

Have a nice day, lovelies!

A brown paper bag present set – 3rd Eye Craft

Hello lovelies! Today I´d like to share with you a fast and easy to make present packaging idea. I don´t know about you, but in my family spring is the time when one celebration follows another and I truly cannot have enough gifts and packaging ideas prepared beforehand. Here is the set I made:

I chose a plain brown paper bag as a present wrapping, but it was kind of dull without any decoration, so I changed that :)! I first took a white tag, added some faux watercolour effects onto it and then stamped with black stamp ink the lovely “Elyse” and some clockwork onto the tag. I just LOVE the “Elyse” stamp – one of my favorites from the new release! Next I did some background stamping with the crackle and sequin stamps and added some black and white ink splatters onto the background.

After that I just picked a golden doily, some embellishments and lots of 3rd Eye chipboard for decoration. The chipboard pieces are colored with markes and after that I applied a layer of crackle accents over them. After they were all dry I just needed to glue everything on place, add a bow and a badge and the bag was all done. I really like the “pretty things inside” badge – suits a present bag perfectly :)!

There is also a butterfly on the top of the bag for additional interest. I fastened it onto the ribbon (the bow is therefore on the backside of the bag). The butterfly is stamped on a watercolour background with black ink.

I created a matching card using the same ideas and techniques, only that the card is made on white background. I therefore added some Distress Ink around the edges to make it more similar to the colour of the bag. There are also some golden glitter splatters here and there. They were really easy to make. I just added some glossy accents here and there and then poured golden glitter over it and let the whole thing dry properly. After it was all dry I dabbed the residue off.

Happy stamping!!

My little superstar – 3rd Eye Craft

Hello there! For this 3rd Eye layout I started with a piece of white cardstock. First I stamped the background with the leaves stamp using different stamp ink colours. Next I covered one half of the background with a patterend paper that was in matching colours to the inks I had used previously. After that I took the “sparks” stencil and applied some Distress Ink with an ink blending too onto the patterned paper piece. Now the background was done and I was good to go over to decorating my layout.

I used several different chipboard elements on this layout and applied them over each other. I also inked them around the edges for more depth. The feathers are “hanging down” from a piece of twine and surrounded by lovely sequins. The arrows are hand drawn and accompanied by stamp images and die cut paper pieces. The badge and some of the stamped images add to the journaling of this page.

I added the doodling around the edge to bring both sides of the background paper together.

If you look closely, you might notice that all the elements in the middle of the page create an heart shape around the photo. I wanted to create this effect to add to the feeling of this page and of this very special photo of my son.
