Girly colored tiny mixed media canvas – Tattered Angels

Hi there everyone! Today I´m sharing a really girly colored, fun and different kind of mixed media canvas over at Canvas Crop Brands blog. Well, different to what I usually make, that is. This one is full of pink and yellow tones!!! Are you ready?

This tiny piece is full of PINK and ribbon and hearts and glitter and just everything I am usually not using :). And you know what, I loved creating it :). The butterfly metal piece in the middle was already pre-treated with Glimmer Mists, when I started with this canvas. That again is one of those pieces I used for filming the Tattared Angels Glimmer Mist video series last year. See those videos here.

I´ve again recorded a process video on how I did the canvas, so hop over to my YouTube channel to see it (go here!). Also if you are interesting on seeing more photos and reading more details, hop over to the Canvas Corp Brands blog (here) to take a look! Hope you like it!

Happy crafting,

Altered notebook covers – STAMPlorations tutorial

Hello everybody, today I am up with another mixed media tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog!! As the year is slowly coming to an end, we automatically start thinking about the next year peaking around the corner. And we make plans. And when making plans, it is wise to write them down – our daily life tends to get us distracted and so we forget. But if you keep a little notebook with you, you will remember at least some of your ideas and plans. That´s what I did – I altered the covers and now the notebook is ready to hold thoughts, ideas and dreams :).

Here is how I created the covers:

1. Cut two slightly smaller pieces of corrugated cardboard than your notebook size.
2. Take white, turquoise and yellow green (or whatever colors you prefer!!!) acrylic paint and apply random layers onto the cardboard pieces with a palette knife. Let dry. Then add green and brown spray ink droplets and drips onto the surface.
3. Take the Art Splatters stencil and apply some iridescent creative medium thru it onto the pieces.
4. Next apply some Glossy Accents on top of the Splatters and adhere Art Stones onto those areas.
5. Take the same green and brown spray ink colors and apply those onto the art stones – the stones absorb the color and will look more interesting this way.
6. Take the Droplets Mini stencil and apply light blue acrylic paint with a foam brush thru the stencil onto the surface. Just random bits and bobs for interest. It does not matter if the result is not “perfect”.
7. Apply some more green spray ink splatters for interest if you feel like it.
8. Take the Bubbles Mini stencil and apply some relief modeling paste thru it onto the surfaces. Let dry.
9. Decorate with stickers, wood veneer and cork pieces. Then adhere a ribbon onto the book cover and place the altered cardboard pieces on top of the adhered ribbons. Let dry.

Here is a start-to-finish video for additional inspiration – hope you like it!

And some pictures of the finished piece:

How about you? Do you keep a small notebook with you and write down ideas and thoughts on your way to work or while waiting for an appointment etc.? If not, how about you start one – will be interesting to see how the filled notebook at the end of the year!

Have fun creating,

Be Merry – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello everyone, I am up over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today with a little Christmas deco piece. I was lucky enough to come across some small alterable light bulbs and I have been thinking of creating little Secret Santa pieces with them for friends and colleagues.

Sanna Lippert - be merry home deco piece

These lightbulbs are great since they are made out of relatively thick glass and have a flat bottom, so they stand alone and are not too fragile to be used as decoration in the household. You can even unscrew the cork and fill the bulb with whatever you prefer! Here is what I came up with:

Step 1: I first took some mini art stones and filled the lightbulb with those.

Step 2: After adding the mini art stones I mixed some mica flakes and bulk glass glitter into the lightbulb. I then place the red wooden pearls carefully inside the lightbulb and closed the lid. Next I added some white cord around the lightbulb for additional interest and adhered the little star embellishment with a piece of 3D foam on top. This is what the base looks like when finished:

Step 3: After the base was done I strung a piece of white wire thru the light bulb cork and formed it into a place card holder form on top to hold the die cut piece later. I also decorated the lightbulb cork with some half pearls for a fun detail.

Step 4: Next I cut two stars with the Entwined Ovals die cut set and two ice cream cones with the Joset Designs Ice Cream Cone die cut die set. When you flip the cone upside down, it looks a little bit like a Christmas tree!

Step 5: After die cutting the white cardstock, I misted the ice cream cone with green spray inks and it immediately looked like a Christmas tree. I glued the pieces together and adhered the stars to the tree. Next I wrote a sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock and cut it into a banner and adhere that to the tree.

Step 6: I then adhered some white half pearls onto the tree and colored them red with a marker. In the end I added some glitter glue onto the star to make it more shiny and then placed the finished Christmas tree on it´s place.

While creating this piece, it occurred to me, that the lightbulbs would make really great place card holders for the Christmas dinner table. I might need to get a few more to complete that idea too!! Hope you enjoyed this home deco step-by-step and get inspired to create!!!

Happy crafting,
Sanna
