ATC and Art Journal page in same style

Hello lovelies, I have a a fun project to share with you today;  I´ve created a matching art journal page and a set of artist trading coins. I´ve never done this before and while I was creating the art journal page, I figured I could use the same design to create artist trading coins too. And it was actually lots of fun!!

Here is what I did:
1. I applied the purple and green spray inks onto the background with a paint brush. I applied first just a very light layer of paint, then I went over some areas and applied a more saturated paint area here and there and let those areas air dry. That created the watercolor look onto the page.
2. Next I wripped some tissue paper and adhered it onto the page with Mod Podge. I then treated the tissue paper areas again with the spray ink tones to give them the same color as on the background.
3. After that I took some Architextures rub-ons and applied them onto the dry page (you need to wait until the page is totally dry to add the rub-ons!).
4. Next I took some stamps out (by Rubber Dance) and stamped random images here and there with black stamp ink.
5. After that I took the Leaves 2 stencil and some Tonic Studios Embellishment Mousse and applied the mousse thru the stencil onto the background to create some texture.
6. For finishing touches I fussy cut some Architextures rub-on packaging (they have great sentiments printed on their packaging!!) sentiments and adhered them and some glass beads with Tonic Studios Craft Glue onto the page. It is a really good quality glue as it also adhered the glass beads really well in place! For my artist trading coins I did the exact same steps, but started off with a piece of thick white cardstock which I die cut with the Tonic Studios circle dies.   I really, really like the color combination here!!! It brings up all the spring feelz :).

A personal note/update: I am sad to say that my design team & brandwagon/social media team member gig with Canvas Corp Brands ended very suddenly last week as the company was sold and the new owner has decided not to continue with the design team functions. So it´s a sudden and sad goodbye. It has been a great four (4!!!) years with Christine (previous owner) and the CCB team and I have really enjoyed my time and working with and for Canvas Corp Brands. I´ve had the possibility to grow and add to my crafty knowledge by not only being part of the design team but also working with in the brandwagon team and managing challenges, blog posts and one of their social media sites! Thank you so much for this amazing time.

I hope to have inspired you with my projects a little today!!!
Wishing you a great, crafty day!!!

Spring Fling 12 Days of Giveaways STAMPlorations Event

Hello lovelies and welcome to the STAMPlorations Spring Fling Event!!! This event started on the 1st of April and will continue until the 12th! The STAMPlorations team girls will be sharing spring themed project throughout this time period and today is my turn to share my first project.

For today´s post I´ve created a mixed media altered decor piece out of a tin can. Here is what I made:

I used a tuna paste tin as my base and a piece of concrete builds the base the tin stands on. That concrete piece is misted with Glimmer Mists and I used the Tonic Studios Craft Glue to adhere the two pieces together. I am really pleased with the good quality of the glue, it holds metal and concrete on place really well!

I started this project by painting the tin with Tattered Angels Decor & DIY paint which hold onto metal, wood and many other materials without any primer or sanding! And the great thing is that when it dries it creates a chalky kind of finish which look good on various surfaces.

For the background I started by digging my Gelli Arts Mini Printing Plates out and used a piece of packaging tissue paper (came with a pair of shoes I recently bought). I always save this type of papers for crafting projects :). I then took out some acrylic paints and the Whales Tale stencil and started creating patterns with the Gelli Plate and the stencil onto the tissue paper. You cannot see it really well, but there is a turquoise whales tale pattern going on on the bottom of the tin. I adhered it onto place with decoupage adhesive.

Next I used the Buttercups & Butterflies stamp set with black embossing powder to create the embossed flower images onto white cardstock. I used a fairly thick cardstock to make the flowers sturdy. Then I fussy cut them (there is also a matching die set available at the STAMPlorations store, if you not into fussy cutting ;-)..). After that I used Distress Inks to color  the flowers in two pink tones.

I sprayed some Red Tipped Roses Glimmer Mist on top of the tissue paper to create even more interest into the background. Next I adhered the flowers in place.

I then decorated the piece with thick hemp garn and little birdies. For interest I also added some Nuvo Confetti stars and sequins here and there. There is also two types of ribbon going around the tin on the outside. Also adhered on place with the Tonic Craft Glue. It holds everything on place like a dream!

Here on the tilted piece you can see the Whales Tale pattern on the bottom a little bit better. Finally I also added a small rub-on word on the very top on a piece of cord. This is my first Spring Fling project. I hope you have enjoyed reading thru the steps. Be sure to come back again on the 9th to see my second project. Now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog for even more fun spring themed projects!!!

Happy hoppin´!

Misted Mixed Media Tag – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone and Happy Saturday! I´m up with another Mixed Media project share and tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog today. For today´s post, I wanted to create a colorful mixed media tag.

Here is what I created:

And here is how I went upon creating this tag:  I have a book af cheap watercolor papers that have a coloring image on them. I went and die cut the Stitched Nesting Tag with my die cutting machine from that paper pad. The image just adds to the layers of my tag, I don´t mind it being there at all.Next I took the Heartfelt Hibiscus stamp image and using an embossing ink pad, stamped the image onto the background quite randomly. I only left some space at the very top for the Trendy Birds 2 clear stamp images. Those are also embossed with white embossing ink, like the flower images. I heat set the embossing powder with my heat tool. After that I took a set of spray inks and applied them onto the background. In between colours I used my heat tool to dry the particular spray ink layer abit, before adding the next one. I love the gorgeous shine the spray inks add to the background. Now you can also see the random flower pattern and the birds thru the misting. I repeated the same steps like above on the single bird image, this time using black spray ink. After the spray ink was dry, I fussy cut the image. Then I took a residue piece of white cardstock (I always save small pieces of paper for purposes like this) and stamped words from the Trendy Birds 2 stamp set onto the paper. I also applied a rub-on onto the paper and then inked the background green with spray ink. Next I fussy cut every piece.I then adhered all the fussy cut pieces on place and decorated the background with Nuvo Confetti (this adds an additional sparckle). For additonal detail I added some Nuvo Mousse thru the “Rag Rug” stencil with a palette knife here and there on the tag background. This adds an additional layer of texture and interest. For finishing touches I added some Nuvo Drops here and there and some ribbons. Here are some detail photos of the tag.

I hope you get inspired to play with stencils yourself and create a mixed media project of your own! When you do, remember to submit your project to the Mixed Media Challenge!

Mixed Media Challenge, March – STAMPlorations

Hello and Happy Sunday! It´s that time of the month again – the brand new Mixed Media challenge reveal is live at STAMPlorations blog. So this means, it´s time for you guys to get crafty!
Here, for inspirational purposes, my take for this months reveal:

A set pf Artist Trading Coins with stenciling, misting, embossing and coloring as well as some rub-ons. I first applied some residue paste (Faber-Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel) thru a stencil onto the background. The stencil I used is one of my own designs for STAMPlorations: “Fairytale Forest”. Next I misted the coins with Icicle Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Then I moved into stamping and embossing a “Heartfelt Hibiscus” stamp image (also by STAMPlorations) onto white cardstock, then coloring the images with Distress Oxides and a Nuvo Water Tank Brush. For decorational elements I chose to use some 7gypsies Parchment Rub-Ons (the birds and the sentiments), some Nuvo Confetti Hexagons  and Nuvo Crystal Drops. I fuss cut the stamped images as well as the rub-on pieces and adhered everything on place. And finally adhered a small green button on each one.

So now is your turn, be sure to hop over to the STAMPLorations blog to see what my design team colleagues created for this reveal and then play along. Be sure to follow the rules. You will find them here.
And like always, feel free to take advantage of my personal discount code over at STAMPlorations store. You get 20% off your order by adding “STAMPGIRLSANNA” upon checkout.

Hope to see your creations at the STAMP blog,
Happy crafting,

Girly colored tiny mixed media canvas – Tattered Angels

Hi there everyone! Today I´m sharing a really girly colored, fun and different kind of mixed media canvas over at Canvas Crop Brands blog. Well, different to what I usually make, that is. This one is full of pink and yellow tones!!! Are you ready?

This tiny piece is full of PINK and ribbon and hearts and glitter and just everything I am usually not using :). And you know what, I loved creating it :). The butterfly metal piece in the middle was already pre-treated with Glimmer Mists, when I started with this canvas. That again is one of those pieces I used for filming the Tattared Angels Glimmer Mist video series last year. See those videos here.

I´ve again recorded a process video on how I did the canvas, so hop over to my YouTube channel to see it (go here!). Also if you are interesting on seeing more photos and reading more details, hop over to the Canvas Corp Brands blog (here) to take a look! Hope you like it!

Happy crafting,
