Stencil Challenge Reminder – STAMPlorations

Hello and happy Monday! Have you played along with the STAMPlorations March stencil challenge yet? No? No worries, there is still enought time to do so! Today´s reminder post is your inspiration boos for joining in ;-).

This is my project for the reminder post:

For this page I used the Tree 1 stencil´s negative image as my starting point on the background. I had plenty of Dina Wakley Gloss Spray on the stencil, so I just simply pressed the wet stencil onto the page and voilá! The lovely pattern was there. I really like the negative stencil image so much. On top of that I added some Art Flowers 2 stencil flowers with pink Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and the did some asemic writing onto the background.

For decor I added some Elizabeth Craft Designs artsy washi tape (cut into circles) and a hand drawn face of a lady. I originally did a full face, but then later cut it into halves to create a more abstract look. The “earring” is by the way, also Elizabeth Craft Designs washi tape, fussy cut into an earring form. The lady is created using Posca pens and Dina´s Gloss sprays for coloring. I finished the page off with a hand drawn and fussy cut word “harmony”.

Creating this page was so much fun! I hope I could inspire you to play along with the STAMPlorations stencil challenge!! Do hop over to their blog for more inspiration by my design team colleagues! And remember, only by playing by the rules you are eligible for the prizes ;-). And now, HAVE SOME STENCIL FUN 🙂 !!!

Happy stenciling,

Beauty is a light – AJ page

Hello and happy Thursday! Today I´m stopping by to share a face from my art journal page with you guys. In the meantime I find it easy to draw tag sized faces, but a much bigger challenge for me is going bigger (like art journal page size).

I don´t get the proportions the way I want them to be. But anyhow, here is a face experiment with some stamped pattern on the background that I did using a DIY foam stamp (for details, see this video).

Rest ist done using my absolute current favorites – Neocolor 2 crayons by Caran d´Ache. I like the consistency of them so much. They are soft enough and can be used with water and a water tank brush and that is something I enjoy doing at the moment.

Also, could not resist to add a quote. She might not be a beauty, but there is light in her heart ;-). Just yesterday I talked to a colleague at work about drawing faces and my hobby in general and how it helps me relax and reload. Some people run to loose the stress, I reload my batteries thru my hobby.

Hope your day is a good one!

March Stencil Challenge – STAMPlorations

Hello and happy Monday! It´s time for the March STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge reveal!! I hope you are ready for some stencil inspiration??

This is my project for the reveal:

I created a art journal page for this months inspiration post for a change. Can you see what stencils I used on this page? I bet some of them are recognisable, but I especially love the turquoise line pattern, because it just pops out of the background. It´s one of my new stencil that I used only partly: the Amaranth! I just left the blooms out and used only the stems to create the linear pattern. Love the result so, so much!!!

As my first layer I misted some Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays onto the page thru the Trees 1 stencil. Then I added lots of lovely Dina Wakley heavy body paints in lime, yellow, magenta and orange. I just love these colours together!!!

Next I applied white paint thru the Art Flowers 2 stencil, and purple paint thru the Abstract April Showers stencil. Finally I took the Amaranth stencil and added the turquoise paint (only the stem parts) thru it onto the page. Some black paint for contrast and random black paint lines for fun detail. There is also some asemic writing on the top area, added with a white Posca pen and as a focal point from Dina´s collage collective, a fussy cut face. For finishing touches I added the date stamping and some old stickers from my stash.

I really, really love the colours on this page. They are really “me”. It´s bright and happy and cheerful. Now it´s your turn, so do join the fun Stencil Challenge yourself! Please remember to check out the rules on the STAMPlorations blog to be eligible for the prizes! AND HAVE FUN playing along with us – cannot wait to see what you all create!

Happy stenciling!!!

Magic Art Journal page

Hello and happy Monday! We had a gorgeous sunshiny day here today and I really enjoy seeing the yellow break thru the dull gray sky. Finally! And thus, today´s dominant colour is also yellow! One of my long time fave colours!

This page is a combination of various media on top of each other. On the bottom of it all there are various color splodges of glorious Gloss Sprays! I´ve then added patterns with my Rag Rug stencil (the new, bigger pattern) first with Gloss Sprays by Dina Wakley and then added plenty of layers, some asemic writing some Scribble Stick details (like the plus pattern), some Collage Collective pieces and some stamping done with a Dina Wakley stamp set.

The other papers were gifted to me by Katja Joulak in an ATC swap. Thank you! And bits and bobs of Tonic Crackle Paste here and there too and on top some Distress Crayons with the fade technique Tim Holtz shared last spring in his many FB lives. And plenty of rub-ons hidden here and there. They are really old ones and still work!

Today´s message is: sometimes you just have to make your own magic and don´t forget to appreciate the little things like sunshine, blue sky and birds singing. Believe me, I´ve had it with this lockdown (I am still sticking to the rules and regulations), but when there is nothing to look forward to. Nothing that really can motive one to keep going, it gets really hard. Really, really hard. I am cheering myself with pages like this! Lots of layers, colour and brightness! I hope I could lift your spirits with today´s color combo a little bit! See you soon – there is a scrapbook project coming up on Friday :).

Do stop by and take a look!

What counts AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! Today I´m stopping by to share with you some sunshiny yellow in combination with light blue/turquoise. Basically summer colours really. These colours make me happy and bring me joy and lift my mood!

This is just a fun, litte page experiment with Dina Wakley Scribble Stics. I used then almost solely for this page. I just added colours that felt good that particular moment. I actually started with the circles. I drew random circles with magenta onto the journal page, then added lots of happy yellow and combined that with lime and turquoise.

Then I added the black scribbles, drawn with my right hand (which is not my writing hand!) and fussy cut some Tina Wakley scribble girls washi tape into the circles. For finishing touches I made splatters with Dina´s Scribble Sticks, added golden paint troplets which I “rolled down” with a straw to create that smeared, flat image. And then I wrote the “thought bubble” alongside the black lines.

I like the brightness and happiness of this page so much. We are still on lockdown (except we get to go to work in the office on some days, rest is home-office) here and it will go all the way to 8th of February now. And who knows how long after that still.. So we need some happiness here, urgently. I hope I could brighten up your day also abit with this page!
