Travel more – Studio Tekturek

Hello everyone and happy Friday! Today it´s time to share my January Studio Tekturek design team project with you all. I am still totally in love with the Strawberry Shake summer 2020 collection and did a travel themed layout – and a video – with it.

I just love these colours and patterns so much! If you haven´t already, do check out their website for more and support a small, family owned company. Times like these are not easy on any of use – imagine building a business during a pandemic!! Here is the website link and here you can do some direct shopping (or ask your trusted store to order some of their papers).

I´ve used a white cardstock as my starting point and added some spray ink to the background (yellow and blue tones). Next I added a stamped pattern with a map and a light grey stamp ink tone for more interest. After that I drew and fussy cut the alphas and the hearts from the Strawberry Shake collection papers.

So you don´t even need a Cameo/Cricut or similar machine to create this layout. Just simple tool work! After that I fussy cut one journaling card (it had a nice sun on it) and cut the rays „loose“ from the background to make them stand out from the paper. After that I outlined the alphas and hearts with a black pen to give them a little more contrast. Then I just arranged everything and adhered them on place. For additional decor there are some Spiegelmom Scraps sequins as well as a Bramblefox acrylic decor piece on the page. And plenty of Studio Tekturek stickers from the summer collection. I finished the page off with a few black ink splatters and hand written journaling. That´s it!

Here is the step-by-step video – hope you like it, I´m sorry if it´s not perfect, but I just changed the version of my video editing programm and it´s a bit of a learning curve again…Next video will be better again.. sigh!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!!

#finishedinfeb Challenge – product pack reveal

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! Today I´m quickly sharing one of my February projects that I´m planning on doing: the #finishedinfeb challenge, organized/started by Donna.

And since February is just around the corner, I have gathered some older product together that I bought ages ago, but never used so far! Believe me, there are very many options in my stash still, but I randomly just grabbed this pile.

As I don´t own that many UFO´s (unfinished objects), I chose the way of using product that has been waiting for it´s purpose too long. This is my crazy pile. Really random product from stickers to tags to stamp set and papers. I´m challenging myself to use the product in the photo above to create card(s). Let´s see how many I manage to make, but I´ll make at least one :). Feel free to join too! Just tag Donna when you create something yourself, so she can see you joined in. This is just for inspiration, everyone, no strings attached or prizes to be won. Just for the fun of it! And to get UFOS done and/or reducing that stash of ours. I look forward to this!

I might add a bit of media to a card or two, because that is how I roll, but I try to keep to the products shown above. I´ll be sharing the card(s) here as they get done and do a final post end of February to share all the results from this challenge. Wish me luck!

Oh, and since I´m sharing my plans. I also decided to join in on the #100dayproject for the first time this year. Starting day is the 31st of January and I´ll be drawing a face on a tag. One tag a day for 100 days. Let´s see how long that will work out – but I´m very motivated. I´m also eager to see how I develop during the hundred days. Should be lot´s of fun. I´ve pre-cut and pre-prepared 100 tags with a layer of paint/spray inks/other media and will only concentrate on doing the 1 drawing a day. I´m am not a talented drawer, so I´ll do abstract, simple faces foremost. If you want to see my development, follow my Instagram account here. See you!

That´s all for today – looking forward to interesting February and 100 days :).
Take care!

Magic Art Journal page

Hello and happy Monday! We had a gorgeous sunshiny day here today and I really enjoy seeing the yellow break thru the dull gray sky. Finally! And thus, today´s dominant colour is also yellow! One of my long time fave colours!

This page is a combination of various media on top of each other. On the bottom of it all there are various color splodges of glorious Gloss Sprays! I´ve then added patterns with my Rag Rug stencil (the new, bigger pattern) first with Gloss Sprays by Dina Wakley and then added plenty of layers, some asemic writing some Scribble Stick details (like the plus pattern), some Collage Collective pieces and some stamping done with a Dina Wakley stamp set.

The other papers were gifted to me by Katja Joulak in an ATC swap. Thank you! And bits and bobs of Tonic Crackle Paste here and there too and on top some Distress Crayons with the fade technique Tim Holtz shared last spring in his many FB lives. And plenty of rub-ons hidden here and there. They are really old ones and still work!

Today´s message is: sometimes you just have to make your own magic and don´t forget to appreciate the little things like sunshine, blue sky and birds singing. Believe me, I´ve had it with this lockdown (I am still sticking to the rules and regulations), but when there is nothing to look forward to. Nothing that really can motive one to keep going, it gets really hard. Really, really hard. I am cheering myself with pages like this! Lots of layers, colour and brightness! I hope I could lift your spirits with today´s color combo a little bit! See you soon – there is a scrapbook project coming up on Friday :).

Do stop by and take a look!

What counts AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! Today I´m stopping by to share with you some sunshiny yellow in combination with light blue/turquoise. Basically summer colours really. These colours make me happy and bring me joy and lift my mood!

This is just a fun, litte page experiment with Dina Wakley Scribble Stics. I used then almost solely for this page. I just added colours that felt good that particular moment. I actually started with the circles. I drew random circles with magenta onto the journal page, then added lots of happy yellow and combined that with lime and turquoise.

Then I added the black scribbles, drawn with my right hand (which is not my writing hand!) and fussy cut some Tina Wakley scribble girls washi tape into the circles. For finishing touches I made splatters with Dina´s Scribble Sticks, added golden paint troplets which I „rolled down“ with a straw to create that smeared, flat image. And then I wrote the „thought bubble“ alongside the black lines.

I like the brightness and happiness of this page so much. We are still on lockdown (except we get to go to work in the office on some days, rest is home-office) here and it will go all the way to 8th of February now. And who knows how long after that still.. So we need some happiness here, urgently. I hope I could brighten up your day also abit with this page!

Today I feel good AJ page

Hello and happy Saturday! We had a gorgeous sunshiny winter day yesterday and I´ve missed the sunshine so much already! This lockdown is hard enough on it´s own and when the weather outside is dull and grey and depressive, it does not help at all. I personally immediately notice a change in my mood, if there is sunshine and I can see the blue sky outside!

Thus, today´s page – „Today I feel good“ :).

I work in the Ranger art journal at the moment (the black one) and there are various pages in that journal. This is a canvas page and I´m loving the feel of this type of a page. I added only a little; various paints on the background, on top a layer of stenciled Tonic Embossing Mousse thru one of my own stencil designs (available at STAMPlorations). Then some „asemic writing“ on top and on top of that all, a fussy cut collage collective book piece from Dina Wakley. Then I just added the word and some rhinestones to highlight the eye/eyebrow.

I love art journaling at the moment. It helps me get thru all my feelings and moods. I have in addition started to work more consequently on my condition and added sports to my routine. It´s now been four weeks in a row that I´ve been able to keep it up. And it makes me feel much better, bit by bit. As you can see, I am trying to live according to my 2021 words: growth, strength and dedication. I´ve set myself goals and want to reach them. At fifty, life inevitably changes and I notice the change and want to find new paths. It´s time. So I work on them, tiny bits every day – change is change, no matter how small!
