Winter joy – Studio Forty Designs

Hello there everyone, I´d like to share a wintery scrapbook page with you today. This one is again created with Studio Forty Designs product. I wanted to create a fun, winter themed page with die cuts around my son´s photo, who loves snow and winter. I´ve again recorded a start-to-finish video for you to watch too.

Here is my finished layout:
I used the Moonchild collection again for this page and even though it is very purple themed, the backsides of the papers work great for a winter theme too. And by adding some winter themed die cuts to the page the snow theme was complete.

 I´ve also decorated the page with some 3D foam snowflakes and microfine glitter. They add additional sparkle to the page and also add struckture to the overall look. For additional fun detail and interest I misted a white leftover paper with green spray ink and then stamped some trees with the “Gifts” clear stamp set onto it (see full material list at the end of this post). I´ve also added some leftover stamped and colored images from my previous projects to accompany the Studio Forty stamp images. Even though they are from a different series, they work really nicely together with the Studio Forty stamp designs and die cuts.

I wanted to add a frosty look to the page, so I treated some of the stamped and die cut images with glitter glue. This makes the images look like they were covered with a layer of snow.

 To make some die cuts stand out more from the dotted background, I inked them with blue Distress Ink. This way you can also easily change the look of a precut image to match the coloring and color sheme of your page.

In general this page is quite simple and easy to make as you only need to adhere the patterned papers together and then add the photo and have lots of fun with all the little bits and pieces and arranging them into an order that pleases your eye. And even though there are quite a few elements on the page, it still isn´t bulky at all. It will therefore fit into a photo album very easily without taking too much space.

 Finally I´ve created the title for this page with “Merry” clears stamps and black stamp ink. Under the title I added some journaling and also stamped a date. I´ve noticed that when you don´t immediately add the dates to the stories you scrap about, it will be impossible to recall in a few years time, when a particular photo was taken. You think you will remember, but sadly this is not the case. It is much more fun looking thru a photo album later with you children, when they can see what year a particular photo and memory is from.

Artist Trading Cards – Studio Forty

Hello and happy December, everyone! It´s again my turn to share a Studio Forty project with you today. Christmas being practically around the corner, I got distracted with artist trading cards, when I actually should have been finishing up a couple more Christmas cards for family and friends. But sometimes distractions like this are really good, so I think it´s OK to spend one evening playing with something else than making Christmas card projects :).

Here are the ATC´s I created for today´s post:

The first set is winter themed. I´ve first misted the background with a blue spray ink and then added the branches onto the bottom part of each ATC. They are stamped with waterproof black ink.

 Next I used the snowflake stamps with embossing ink to stamp images onto the “sky”. After that I embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder.

 For decoration I added “faux stitching” around the edges and stamped a wintery sentiment which I fussy cut and inked with light blue Distress Ink.

 Finally I added some liquid pearls details onto the branches. That way they look like winter berries. For details on used product scroll down to the very bottom of this post – all used products are listed there.

 For my next artist trading card set I took an early start towards Valentine´s Day. I wanted to create love/friendship themed ATC´s so I chose the Whoo loves you stamp set as my starting point for these four artist trading cards. I might still add a little red stamped heart to each one of them later, just haven´t decided on that quite yet.

 For these ATC´s I first cut white cardstock into the right size (2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch). Then I stamped the leaves onto the background with embossing ink and added white embossing powder. After heat setting the powder I took a peach toned spray ink and misted the backgrounds with that tone.

 Next I took a water tank brush and some darker brown spray ink to color the leaves. After the background was done I stamped the sentiment speech bubbles and the animals onto a piece of white cardstock and used brown, grey, yellow and red spray inks with a water tank brush to color the images. After that I again added some “faux stitching” with a black pen around the edges.

 After the images were dry I fussy cut them with precision scissors and added some yellow burlap and white lace onto the artist trading cards.

 Then all I needed to do was to adhere the fussy cut images onto the backgrounds with paper glue.

 To make sure the lace and burlap stay put on their place, I attached them additionally to the background with a stampler. This will keep them from coming off.

I had a great time creating these artist trading cards! And now that I´ve had some fun creative time, I can go and finish off the last Christmas cards for this season.

Clean and simple Christmas cards – Studio Forty

Hello there everyone, I am up with a set of clean and simple Christmas cards over at the Studio Forty blog today. My starting point for these cards was a set of “Winter Time” pocket scrapbooking cards by Studio Forty. I kept the design very simple as I wanted the pocket cards to be the main focus. Here is what I did:

But first Coffee – Studio Forty

Hello there,  it´s my turn to share a layout created with Studio Forty product with you today.  Are there any coffee lovers out there amongst you? Well, I need to confess that I tend to drink quite a lot of coffee and I just love the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The coffee themed stamp set in the shop is super cute, so I used that stamp set as my starting point for this page:

I´ve used various stamp sets on this layout for various reasons. I like owls – and I am a night owl – so I figured it would be a perfect match for this page to use some owls with the coffee theme. I stay up late and then I am sleep deprived and then I need coffee to wake up and keep me going… see where I am getting? So basically that is what this page is about.

I´ve used Tattered Angels spray inks to color the fussy cut,  stamped images. I first stamped them onto white cardstock with waterproof black ink, then colored with matching spray ink tones.

I added a layer of spray ink to the background using a piece of plastic as my transfer medium for the ink. That creates a nice random pattern, but bigger color areas than if I would add the color as direct splatters from the bottle.

I first stamped the owls and all other images with black ink onto a thicker paper that absorbes spray inks well, then I used a fine paint brush to apply the ink. The owls add a fun detail to the page.

Also fussy cutting the stamped images adds more interest and texture to the layout than just directly stamping onto the background paper. Besides, this way you have more control of your images and should one of them not turn out nice, you can simply toss that one and stamp another one and your page will not be ruined by a poorly stamped image.

I´ve again added a date stamp onto the page just to document when I created it and what kind of ideas had been going thru my mind on that day. So this layout is almost like everyday diary keeping.

Awesome – Studio Forty

Hello there! How about a quick card share? I´ve made this card with Studio Forty product after I finished this layout. So basically using up all my leftover colored and stamped dreamcatcher images on this card and some of the leftover paper pieces. Here is what I ended up with:

If you watch this video, you can see how and with what I colored the stamped images. Other than that I have just layered the patterned papers from the Moonchild collection on top of each other and distressed the edges of the feather paper abit.

Next I´ve built the dreamcatcher from the patterend paper and the stamp set from the Moonchild collection. Then I´ve colored the images and fussy cut them with small scissors.

Finally I added some liquid pearls and Stickles for additional interest and shine, doodled around the edges and added a stamped, fussy cut sentiment. That´s it. I really like this collection very much, the colors are so beautiful and all the patterns works so well together. Wishing you a lovely, creative day, peeps!!!
