TAGplorations June challenge reminder, vol. 2

Hello there and happy Friday!!! Have you played along with the TAGplorations June Challenge already? This months theme is “All About Dad” and you are asked to use stencils on your tag projects. I know right, so easy!!!

Here is my second challenge reminder post for that particular challenge – I do hope you join the fun with us!

On this tag I am still continuing with the similar theme, like on my two previous tags (here and here). This time I took a bolder color to combine with green as it better fits the tag sentiment. Orange, in my opinion, is a stand out color :).

For the tag itself, I again used the same techniques like on the previous tags. Funny, how the exact same idea looks quite different, when you change a color or two!!!

Here also the sentiment is a bit different. It´s more bold :). And we know dads love to stand out and feel special, so what better way to say it, than with this stamp sentiment! The bird is just a random idea, but in a way it also fits (bird,  hatching, birth/born) :).

That´s all from me today. Do play along with us – there is still time to join in!!!

Wishing you happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

TAGplorations challange reminder, vol. 1

Hello and happy Tuesday!! Today I´m sharing another masculine tag project with you guys. This one is my first challenge reminder post for the TAGplorations June Challenge over at STAMPlorations blog. Remember to play along with us!!

For this tag I again used the same techniques like on my first tag (read more about it here). But for this one I chose ot use a little bit different colors. That, basically is the only difference – the techniques I used, are the same.

I thought it would be fun to add a lawm mower image to the tag – as that usually is a dad chore in the household :). And besides, it is a machine, i.e. it represents “the manly life” *lol*..

I hope you get inspired to play with us at the TAGplorations challenge this month! It´s a fun challenge.

Happy stenciling,

STAMPlorations Mixed Media challenge reveal – June

Hello everyone and Happy Sunday!! Today it´s time to share the June STAMPlorations Mixed Media challenge with you. Like always you are asked to create a mixed media project (cards also allowed), that features at least one stencil.

And this is what I made for this challenge reveal: a set of Art themed artist trading cards.

I started by cutting a piece of residue ink colored (from a former project) piece of watercolor paper into the right ATC size. Then I applied three tones of Distress Ink thru the Rag Rug stencil onto the surface very randomly.

After that I took the Blooming Buds clear stamp set and stamped flowers and leaves also very randomly onto the background using grey stamp ink by Nuvo.

For my next step I again took some leftover die cut rectangles which I had gessoed first and then applied Distress Ink on. I took the Life in Full Color stamp set and stamped an art related quote with black stamp ink onto the colorful background. I love how these little pieces turned out!

Now all I needed to do was to cut the above sentiment pieces into a right size and adhere them onto the stenciled background piece.

For finishing touches I added some faux stitching around the edges and some marks here and there, done with a black pen. And for sparckle I added a few silver sequins by Nuvo. Oh, and there is a small strip of washi tape attached to the samped sentiment piece also. Almost forgot to mention that.

That´s it. I love the colors and the look of these ATCs!! Now´s your turn again. Create a stenciled mixed media project of any kind and submit it to the June MM challenge at the STAMPlorations blog. Looking forward to seeing your fun, colorful and artsy projects!!

ps. remember to take advantage of the above Discount Code at the STAMPlorations online store :). Enjoy!

Art Journal Page – STAMPlorations

Hello there and happy Sunday! Today it´s again time for the STAMPlorations Mixed Media challenge reveal for May. I created an art journal page for this months reveal.

Here is what I created:
And here are the steps:

I started with a yellow Distress Oxide background – applying the ink onto the page with a blending brush. Next I placed the RagRug stencil onto the page and applied orange Distress Ink tone on top of the yellow color thru the stencil.

I gradually moved towards darker colours and also changed the stencil in the process. For example, I created a frame with the Fairy Tale Forest stencil and green Distress Oxide tones. I wanted to leave a “white space” into the middle of the page for the text. After that particular stencil I took the Dream Flower stencil and a coral Distress Oxide tone and brushed the ink next to the green frame  with the blending brush.

Finally, I again changed the stencil and took a purple Distress Oxide tone and applied it thru the Cornflower stencil along the sides of the page. Now my “frame” was ready for some text I wanted to add to the page.
I first wrote the text using a black pen, then doodled a scalloped frame around it and colored it with a green Posca marker.

I had a great time creating this page – it was quite meditative, actually, to layer the stencils, the inks and the patterns overlappingly on top of each other. It´s almost like the sun is peeking thru the middle of the page framed by all those flowers and leaves.

Oh, and remember that you can get 20 % off your order by using following code upon checkout at the STAMPlorations store: STAMPGIRLSANNA. Enjoy!

So now is again your turn. Create a mixed media project using a stencil and submit it to the challenge. But before that, hop over to the STAMPlorations blog to get inspired by the artworks my design team colleagues created for this months reveal.

Mixed Media Challenge, March – STAMPlorations

Hello and Happy Sunday! It´s that time of the month again – the brand new Mixed Media challenge reveal is live at STAMPlorations blog. So this means, it´s time for you guys to get crafty!
Here, for inspirational purposes, my take for this months reveal:

A set pf Artist Trading Coins with stenciling, misting, embossing and coloring as well as some rub-ons. I first applied some residue paste (Faber-Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel) thru a stencil onto the background. The stencil I used is one of my own designs for STAMPlorations: “Fairytale Forest”. Next I misted the coins with Icicle Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Then I moved into stamping and embossing a “Heartfelt Hibiscus” stamp image (also by STAMPlorations) onto white cardstock, then coloring the images with Distress Oxides and a Nuvo Water Tank Brush. For decorational elements I chose to use some 7gypsies Parchment Rub-Ons (the birds and the sentiments), some Nuvo Confetti Hexagons  and Nuvo Crystal Drops. I fuss cut the stamped images as well as the rub-on pieces and adhered everything on place. And finally adhered a small green button on each one.

So now is your turn, be sure to hop over to the STAMPLorations blog to see what my design team colleagues created for this reveal and then play along. Be sure to follow the rules. You will find them here.
And like always, feel free to take advantage of my personal discount code over at STAMPlorations store. You get 20% off your order by adding “STAMPGIRLSANNA” upon checkout.
