Altered grater – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello lovelies! It is no secret that I like to go junking and collect all kinds of bits and parts to use on various mixed media decor pieces. Recently I came across some old kitchen cutlery and tools and the minute I saw the grater I knew I wanted to alter it to a wall decor piece of some kind. This was my starting point – a rusty, old grater (here already covered with a layer of gesso):

and here is what it looks like after several layers of Tattered Angels sprays and various media. The finished piece:

If you are interested on taking a better look at the STEP-BY-STEP on how this grater came together, hop over to the CANVAS CORP BLOG and read THIS POST  for all details! A full material list is also included there.

I had great fun creating this piece – I hope you enjoy the tutorial. Now all I need to do is to frame it and then it can decorate someone´s kitchen area!

Happy crafting lovelies,

#happybirthday

There is just something about these Tim Holtz birdies that immediately make me smile! I just could not pass those in the store.

Sharing a little crazy birdie card today with you:

I am not very good in coloring images, but I tried my best with this one :-). The background is created with spray inks and water – simple, fun and easy! I so love to create this kind of backgrounds!!! That little „smile“ cut out is from my dear scrappy friend Lizzy – love it! I got a big bag full of such words – deffo going to use every single one of those (might be, I will need a refill soon *winks*…).

Have a great day, lovelies!!!
Happy crafting!!!

Remember the lesson – Art Journal 1/4 SWAP

Hi there lovelies! I recently took part in an art journal SWAP of a different kind. We were asked to create a full 8×10 inch art journal page and then cut it in 4 pieces and send those pieces on their way to the SWAP partners.

Here is what I did – a full 8×10 inch art journal sheet with lots of paint and pattern going on on the background. Created with Tattered Angels paints & sprays as well as some acrylic paints from my stash.

In the middle it says: „Love your life“. And the black text in the background goes something like this: „Life is too ironic to fully understand. It takes sadness to know what happiness is. Noise to appreciate silence and absence to value presence. Forget the past, remember the lesson“.

Here are some close-ups:

There are quite a few layers of paint, spray ink, white and black pen, acrylic paint etc. on this piece.

I also fussy cut the heart pieces from a previous projekt leftover piece of paper and added them in the middle to add more interest and dimension to the sheet.

and then finally, this is what I sent to my SWAP partners:

So everyone will receive a different kind of piece with a different random text and bits and pieces of hearts in every single piece. I really liked creating these pieces/this sheet – I hope the recipients will find them ok too. There is a lot of heart put into this sheet :-).

I will be shearing the quarters I receive on my Instagram account as they arrive, so make sure you keep an eye on that. I am already very excited to see what my SWAP partners created!!! This has been so much fun!!! Hope we can do something like this soon again!!!

Have a nice weekend lovelies!!!!

Spread your wings – more MMCC card challenge inspiration

Time for one more butterfly inspired card! As you might remember, this months challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge blog is all about butterflies (and gold).  I hope you have found time to play along with us this month – and if you haven´t there actually still is a little time to join in..

This is my second card based on this months theme:

For this one I first used a butterfly stamp from a Finnabair stamp set „Don´t forget to fly“. First stamped with VersaMark ink, then applied golden embossing powder and heat set it. After that I took some spray inks (green, yellow, blue) and colored the butterflies with them very freely.

I then added a golden yarn around the card, stamped a sentiment on a strip of white carstock, layered 3 flowers from my stash on top of each other and then applied some „Mini Prills“ in the middle. For final touches I added some blue Glimmer Glaze splatters here and there and glued the background on a blue card base.

Now hop over to the MMCC blog for more card inspiration and submit your creation here. Have fun!!! Hope to see you there,

Misted and stenciled layout background – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello there, everyone! Summer is finally here! We´ve had our share of some pretty hot weather the past days. Even though it has been so warm, you will not hear me complain. I love summer, I really, really like the warm weather more than the cold and dark winter days. You might have also noticed that many of my layouts have summer photos on them. A coincidence? I do not think so ;-).

And therefore, I will be sharing another summer themed page right now :-). This one features my boys on a vacation a few years back. Half buried into the beach sand playing with their Pokemon figures. Fun times & great memories.

I´ve used quite a few Canvas Corp Brands products on this layout. Starting from the kraft cardstock, spray inks, canvas ribbon and the little paper embellishments. I wanted to add different layers of ink, paste and paint here and there and kept the colors very natural (yellows, browns, blueish green/patina & sandy tones). Here is a little video on what I did – it has been a while since my last one… hope you like this one!

And here are a few close-up photos. The stencil I´ve used is by The Crafter´s Workshop. I´ve tried to add all product infos to the video, but if you have any questions, leave me a comment and I will do my best to answer them :).

These little black & white maritime tags are so cool as you can change their color to match any project just by spraying them with some spray ink. I´ve pretty much misted every item on this layout, by the way. The journaling is written on a DIY kraft tag and hidden behind the photo.

Here is a close-up of one of my favorite spray ink tones – the Glimmer Mist Verdigris. It has beautiful golden/bronze glimmer combined with a beautiful blueish ink tone.

Cannot wait for our next vacation – could be that you will be seeing some more vacation & summer themed layouts in the future too. Have fun scrapping and put your mixed media goodies in action ;-)!!
