Smile – STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday

Hello lovelies, and just like that it is 2017!!! I hope you had a lovely, relaxing holiday season and are ready to kickstart another creative year!! Let´s beginn with an exersize that is easy to do 🙂 – a challenge! Here we go:

How about you create something fun in mixed media style and join our January challenge over at the STAMPlorations blog. Joining is easy, just make sure you create something mixed media using at least one stencil and place the above image with a correct link to your blog. PLUS make sure you are not submitting cards – those are the only ones not accepted.

Here is what I did as an inspiration for this months challenge reveal:

Sanna Lippert - stenciled art journal sheet

I started by applying turquoise Sennelier acrylic paint with an old credit card onto the art journal sheet. After that layer was dry, I added white acrylic paint droplets with a paint brush onto the blue surface. White that layer was drying, I took some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists out and misted on a white paper in yellow, light green, kiwi and red.

White the misted paper was drying, I took the Some Birds stencil and used it as a drawing guide with a black pen. I then had a bunch a birdies flying on my page. Next I colored them with a black pen.

After that I stamped some feathers with the Trendy Feathers 2 clear stamp set onto the misted paper and fussy cut those images. Then I stamped a sentiment that would suit my journal page and fussy cut that too. Now all I needed to do was to layer these pieces onto the page. I also added some white gel pen details onto the feathers and some glitter glue for interest. I outlined the page with a black pen and added the date. That way I´ll later know when I created this sheet. Here is the finished page.

Song lyrics art journal sheet – STAMPlorations

Hello there, everyone! It´s time for a new month and a new challenge! Are you ready for December Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations blog? I hope you are :).

My take this month is an art journal sheet, inspired by lyrics. I really like to turn music on when creating and at the moment I am totally fascinated by Elle King. I love to listen to her songs when creating and while I was playing around in my art journal, a song came on that really moved me. So I decided to write the lyrics down on my page.

I first started with an orange and yellow paint on the background (brayered onto the surface). Then I added some green and hot pink paint and left the page to dry properly. Something I´ve learned the hard way after ruining MANY journaling pens… you need to let the paint dry. If it´s not dry, you WILL ruin the pen you write with. There are no excuses on this…none. So, I made sure every layer dried before going over to the next one. I left the page open on my craft table and went away (NOT easy for me, as I am very impatient…). Then, when the surface had dried, I drew two heart shapes onto the sheet and started adding the dark blue paint. And AGAIN left it to dry overnight!!! I am so proud of myself. It payed off! Next I took the light blue paint and added the droplets with a pencil – yes, I dipped a pencil onto the paint and then onto the page. Results in nice circles :).

After the little light blue circles had dried up, I added the raindrops with white paint by dabbing thru the stencil with a foam brush. Again some drying time was needed before adding the birdies. I used a foam brush, black paint and a stencil for the birds too.

And then, finally, when the final layers were dry, I took my uni-ball white pen and wrote down the lyrics of one of the songs I had been listening to white creating. These have a special meaning to me  and I love Elle´s voice/sound!!

Now is your turn. Put on some music you love and start creating. And then submit to December´s challenge at STAMPlorations!! I´d love to see what you make. And remember to read the rules before joining in to make sure you are eligible for the prize :). See you there!!!
