#tuac5minchallenge – DAY 10

Hello and happy Tuesday! It´s day 10 with the Ugly Art Club 5 min challenge for me – I cannot believe I have made it to day 10 already (and btw. I still have no idea whatsoever on how long this challenge will continue..). But here is day 10:

I´ve changed the format and did a tag this time. I still have some pre-prepared tags from the face drawing challenge left over and I thought it would be a good place to use them up. And it´s good to have some bits prepared already when you start with the 5 minutes… because it´s VERY short a time frame.

I personally find that this challenge is way harder for me than the face drawing one. Why? Because I am supposed to do something else every day in such a short time frame. And there is only so much you can do. Doing heavy media would mean drying times. And I´m way too impatient to wait for the next day :-D. I want to finish in that time frame. Therefore it gets harder to decide what to do each day. But should I find myself stressing too much about it, I will change the process and just start one piece, do a few steps, let dry and work on it again the next day. But today was fun. Simple and easy steps and got lots of junk used up too. Win win :).

I also lost a piece of book paper (very tiny) while filming and spend a ages looking for it – never found it. So you´d think that by now I knew I should prepare everything BEFOREHAND, but I still loose pieces, seach for stuff and be my chaotic self. And that in the 5 minutes frame is just dumb. But that´s just me.

I hope you still enjoy the video and the art piece I made. See you again tomorrow!

#tuac5minchallenge – DAY 7

Hello and happy Saturnday! It´s been a day, let me tell you! Lots of working in the garden (we have a little construction going on there). I wish we can finish the project before winter comes. So my 5 min take on DAY 7 for the Ugly Art Club challenge is very simple.

It´s just some pearlescent watercolor on the background in silver and grey and a piece of tissue that was already on my table from a happy mail I received recently. I added some old rub-ons, some twine and a Heidi Swapp star on top. Plus a fussy cut sentiment from a magazine.

I like how it turned out, but I am missing droplets on this one. White ones! I just didn´t have any time for those in the end. Might add them later :). I hope you enjoy these 5 min videos I´ve been recording and give you some inspiration too. I am very much enjoying this challenge and always excited to see what other people make! Follow the hashtag to see what everyone makes.

Happy crafting,

#tuac5minchallenge – Day 5

Hello and happy Thursday! Today it´s DAY 5 for me with the #tuac5minchallenge called to life by The Ugly Art Club. Without any further ado, here is my take:

I so so love how this turned out. I used plenty of “junk” here again. Bits of old book, then japanese magazine pages which I got gifted from my boys who are anime fans. They knew I´d love newspaper bits in foreign language. See, the good thing is I have no idea what is standing on this piece, for me it´s just beautiful letters as texture in the background. On top of that I have a bottle label and old rub-ons and a very pretty Prima flower. I wish I had more of these from back in the day!!

I got inspired by a fellow participant (Lisa Goddard) to try out stitching! She did a beautiful piece a few days ago and I noticed she had managed to add in stitching! I wanted to try out how that would go. Well, let me tell you that if I hadn´t added it, I would have had more time to add other things that I now didn´t have time for. But I´m proud to have tried it out. You can do it, but you need less steps afterwords to finish in time.

This piece is sarcastic regarding the text. The bottle label as a focal point and then underneath it says in German: “Mittel um gesund zu werden” which translates to: “Means to get well”. That I did on purpose ;-)..

See you tomorrow again!

ATC card set

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! Today I´m stopping by to share a fun Artist Trading Card set with you guys. This one was again inspired by one of Tim Holtz´s Facebook lives. I was watching his live and took some paper and paints out and went from there. This is the end result:

I played with Distress Paints on the background and lifted some paint thru a stencil to create a pattern. Then I added rub-onsand some old book paper pieces here and there. On top of that layer there is some stamping with Dina Wakley stamps. I created a big piece of paper while I was at it and later cut that piece into artist trading card sized pieces. I then fussy cut the ladies from a vintage womens fashion image book and added a stamp sentiment by Dyan Reaveley on top. Some rhinestore stars finish these pieces off.

I had so much fun creating the backgrounds. I really enjoy watching Tim´s lives so much. I am also trying to use product that I have instead of bying new stuff all the time. I have plenty of Ranger product at home already and they want to be used too :).

Wishing you all a lovely week!

Wall art piece

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! I am currently recovering from a cruciate replacement surgery and as I am writing this, I am still in the hospital (hoping to be able to go home soon). Thus, the regular posting here on my blog has been interrupted, because of that reason.

Therefore I am today sharing another wall art piece with you, that I created as a class sample a while ago.

This piece has lots of mixed media bits on it and was inspired by nature. When taking walks and traveling, I often pick pebbles, rocks, twigs and moss to take home with me and these pieces often end in a mixed media art piece later.

So for this piece I used a rock and a stick from nature to build my guardian angel. I added stenciling with Nuvo Glitter paste and one of my own stencil designs at STAMPlorations.

There is also plenty of misting on the background in various earthy colours, some canvas, tissue paper wings and natural toned cord on this piece. I also added a rub-on picture behind the “angels” head as a centerpiece.

I love creating canvases like these! This particular piece I later gifted a dear crafty friend, who lives in Thessaloniki :). I hope it brings joy to it´s new owner :).

That´s all for today. Now back to resting and recovering! That will be on my programm mainly for quite a few days now and then slowly getting into physiotherapeutical things and hopefully after 3 weeks, can toss the crutches too.

Hoping you all are healthy and keep that way, even though there is the situation of Covid-19. Let´s take care of ourselves and stay safe. Wishing you all a lovely day.

Happy crafting,
