Mistakes Art Journal page – STAMPlorations

Hi there and happy Monday! Today it is again my turn to share a STAMplorations mixed media tutorial with you. For this times tutorial I chose to make another art journal page for a change – it has been a while I shared an Art Journal video with you all…

Here is what I did:
I´ve been making these „faux watercolor“ background art journal pages this month and I am so much enjoying creating them! So I thought, I´d share with you a short start-to-finish video with you guys on how I create them.
Basically, all you need is some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, a paint brush, water, a stencil, a Distress Oxide ink, a stamp and a black and white pen. I know it sounds like a lot, but normally I use much more product on an art journal page than I did here. I first mist the paper with a water mist quite wet, then start adding the Glimmer Mist tones to the page and let them spread freely. I also did not treat the surface with any kind of primer (gesso etc.), because I wanted to have the paper react with the spray ink and water and create fun patterns and color mixtures onto the surface. I always applied one color, then dried the page with a heat gun before moving to the next tone. After the background was done, I added stenciled images with one of my STAMPlorations stencils (Evolution) and brown Distress Oxide ink. I wanted to add a frame around the edges, so I did that with the stencil. Then I outlined the patterns with a black pen to make them stand out from the bold color background a little better.  I also played with a white gel pen and added fun details to the stencil patterns with it. Next I used a STAMPlorations motivational stamp for partial stamping – only stamped a word from the sentiment stamp with black ink. Then I added a hand written quote to the page with a black POSCA pen and highlighted the letters by adding depth to them with the same pen and later with a white gel pen. For finishing touches I added some ink droplets with the Icicle Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer MIst. I love the glimmer and shine they add to the page!! Cannot get enough of that :). And finally, here is the start-to-finish video for you to watch! I hope you like it!!!

For more information and fun challenges, hop over to the STAMPlorations blog HERE. And if you would like to buy a stamp and stencil or two, HERE is where to do that :). There is also the first set of my very own stencils available at th store – see HERE. And if you would like to get 20% off your order, use the gift card code STAMPGIRLSANNA upon checkout!!!

Remember the lesson – Art Journal 1/4 SWAP

Hi there lovelies! I recently took part in an art journal SWAP of a different kind. We were asked to create a full 8×10 inch art journal page and then cut it in 4 pieces and send those pieces on their way to the SWAP partners.

Here is what I did – a full 8×10 inch art journal sheet with lots of paint and pattern going on on the background. Created with Tattered Angels paints & sprays as well as some acrylic paints from my stash.

In the middle it says: „Love your life“. And the black text in the background goes something like this: „Life is too ironic to fully understand. It takes sadness to know what happiness is. Noise to appreciate silence and absence to value presence. Forget the past, remember the lesson“.

Here are some close-ups:

There are quite a few layers of paint, spray ink, white and black pen, acrylic paint etc. on this piece.

I also fussy cut the heart pieces from a previous projekt leftover piece of paper and added them in the middle to add more interest and dimension to the sheet.

and then finally, this is what I sent to my SWAP partners:

So everyone will receive a different kind of piece with a different random text and bits and pieces of hearts in every single piece. I really liked creating these pieces/this sheet – I hope the recipients will find them ok too. There is a lot of heart put into this sheet :-).

I will be shearing the quarters I receive on my Instagram account as they arrive, so make sure you keep an eye on that. I am already very excited to see what my SWAP partners created!!! This has been so much fun!!! Hope we can do something like this soon again!!!

Have a nice weekend lovelies!!!!

Life is meant to..

Hello lovelies! Time to post yet another SST card challenge. I was lucky to make it ot round 3!! Here are the requirements:

1. General:
Make a card with lots of doodling on it.
2. Theme: Free
3. Colour: Free
4.
Size: Free
5. To be used:
– Minimal of 3 elements on the card on which you doodle,
Doodle a quote directly on the card,
– All doodling must be hand doodled!

6. Not allowed:
– No premade embellishments,
– No images or stamps are allowed on this card, no cut out images (from patterned papers, prints, internet etc.)
Flowers in any form. You can’t even doodle flowers on your card. You can doodle anything else.
Alphabet stickers, alpha thickers, diecut or punched alpha, handcut alpha, stamped alpha, punched alpha, alphabet using a stencil or any other alphabet embellishment.

7. You can use:
– Cutting machines and punches, except for alphabets and flowers

Here is what I did: I first doodled the banner by hand, then added some shadows by hand and finally wrote my quote directly onto the card and banner. Next I drew thick black sunrays and alled plenty of doodling in between. All hand drawn. After that I doodled some more in between the rays – every ray with a different pattern. Next I used a Memory Box star die cut die to cut the stars out of white cardstock. After that I punched some circles using a circle punch (again white cardstock). Then I went along and doodled some patterns on them and colored the card partly (banner) and the elements with Copic markers (again by hand). Some elements are glued down directly onto the card and others with 3D foam for more interest. On the yellow stars I applied some Glossy Accents in the end for additional detail. That is my take on this one. TFL!

Happy crafting,
xoxo, Sanna
