Temporarily closed – AJ page

Hello lovelies and happy Tuesday! I´m excited to share another art journal page with you today. This one turned out so to my liking!!

I originally had something going on on the page already, but didn´t like it at all. That happens. So, I took a piece of tissue paper that I had done with a gel plate, adhered that on top and started anew. After the gel plate tissue, I grabbed some bookpaper bits. Adhered those and then applied first gold acrylic paint here and there. Then I grabbed my beloved Distress Crayons and applied the gorgeous colours (also the white! crayon – love it here!!). Next I placed my Dots ´n Beans stencil and placed it on some areas to wipe of a bit of the crayon.

You can hardly see that, but look for the the blue and pink areas, you might recognize the stencil pattern there. I already had a quote in mind I wanted to use, but hadn´t figured out how I wanted to use it. Then it hit me – writing on a book page and fussy cutting each and every letter extra, then adhering in rows. I LOVE how that turned out! So going to do this more often :), definitely!

That´s it, lovelies. It´s a simple page, but I love how it turned out. Happy times!

STAMPlorations April Stencil Challenge, reminder post

Hello everyone, it´s again time to remind you to play along with our monthly stencils challenge over at STAMPlorations blog! If you haven´t already, do join in on some stencil fun with us!

Here is what I created for the inspiration post:

It´s another art journal page, created using old vintage 1950s fashion pages in combination with STAMPlorations stencils.

There are plenty of media and paint residues on the background as my starting point, then I built upon that by adding stencil images with the Make Marks 2 stencil in various colours. There is also some golden glitter paste on the background, applied thru one of my stencil designs called “Onions in Raws”.

After adding all the stenciling, I adhered the fussy cut ladies onto the page and wrote the quote. I love this quote so much :-D!!! And you can also find some bits of stamping here and there. Those were made with Louise Nelson´s Quirky Birds stamp set she designed for AALL & Create.

So enough about my page, now is your turn to play and then submit to the April challenge! I hope you find some inspiration here and there is even more over at STAMPlorations blog by other DT girls.

Happy stenciling!!!

To Plant A Garden – AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I´m stopping by today to share another art journal page with you guys. For this one I used one of my favorite techniques.

I first created a crazy, colorful background with various paints, spray inks and daubers. I basically added layers after layers and even added a neon dauber thru a stencil. When everything was dry, I just drew black flowers onto the page, doodled them to add more detail and then painted the “open” areas in between with a grey Posca pen.

For finishing touches I added a qoute that says: “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”. Love that quote!

The flowers, of course, are not real ones, just very imaginary. I cannot draw real flowers, I´m more the abstract, imaginative type of drawer :). But I love how this page turned out.

Wishing you a great weekend! Stay healthy and stay safe!

You are weird AJ page

Hello and Happy Tuesday!!! Today I´m again sharing another art journal page with you. Are you ready for some serious colour?

This one, is inspired by Louise Nelson´s class I took in fall 2018 in Norway and also by Deb Weiers face paintings. See, I´ve been adoring both ladies work for quite a while now and I wanted to give that type of art a try.

There´s a lot on this page that I learned on Louise´s class in Norway, but there are also bits and pieces that I tried to learn from Deb Weiers art. I love painting faces, but you know, with a twist, since I am not good at realistic portraits at all. Besides, I love crazy, silly, interesting non-traditional portraits of all sorts. So there, that inspired me to create this page.

I also learned alot during creating. I need to learn how to let go and be totally relaxed about what I am about to make. I tend to overthink things too much when creating. And thinking simpler and enjoying the process, not thinking about the end result too much during the creating process. I hope to find my way of painting faces in the process 🙂 ..

I´ve again started with a page that had some stamping already on it. You can see hints of it behind the red painted areas. Besides that, I´ve used only acrylic paints and Posca pens on this page. I am really happy with how the page turned out. And the quote “You are so weird, do not change!” – just love it!!!

Wishing you a lovely start into your week,
see you soon, Sanna

Work on you – Art Journal Page

Hello lovelies and happy Saturday!!! How´s your weekend getting along? I hope you get to spend some time crafting and relaxing. I have yet another, this time very simple art journal page share for you today.

This one I kept very simple mainly because I wanted to focus on the quote! It´s just something that totally hit me and also one that fits my current recovery journey. Work on you – for you! What better way to put it?!

I started with a watercolor ombré background as I wanted to keep everything very simple to emphasize the quote and make it stand out. So I started by adding a light tone of pink, then moving to a purple and finally to a blue watercolor tone.

I then hand wrote the qoute with Posca pens and then used the Evolution stencil to doodle the outline with black and white Posca pens. For finishing touches I added a few blue Nuvo Embellishment Mousse splatters and draw pink stars next to them. Also again using a Posca pen.

Easy peasy and fast and effective. Felt right for today – doing this style of a page.
Wishing you a gorgeous day,
