Coffee themed ATC set – Coffee lovers blog hop

Hello there, everyone and welcome to the Spring Coffee Lovers blog hop. This hop is a sponsored by STAMPlorations (among many other amazing super sponsors).

There are some really great coffee themed products available at the STAMPloratios store and as an coffee addict, I could not pass this hop. Here is my project and a few details on how I created it:

This is a set of 3 Artist Trading Cards and I´ve used the „Bloomin´ Spring Coffee Basket“ clear stamp set on this set of ATCs. My first stemp was to cut vanilla toned cardstock into ATC size (….) and add some patterned papers onto the background. I used 7gypsies Ordre Du Jour papers as I found they would match the blog hop theme very well. And they remind me of old cáfe wallpaper decor somehow :). After cutting the papers into righ size I took a piece of vellum and black waterproof ink and stamped the Coffee Basket onto the vellum. Once dry, the ink does not smear.

Next I fussy cut the stamped baskets and flipped them upside down and started coloring from the backside (just to make sure my alcohol markers would not smear the stamped image – this way nothing can happen!). I used browns, pink, blue and yellow Copic marker tones. After coloring the images I only had to adhere them onto their places with clear double sided adhesive and  add stamped, fussy cut sentiments on top. The words are from the same set. I just used them partially.

For decoration I added some sewing yarn and a button on each ATC. Also there is some glitter glue here and there for additional shine. Finally I wiped some black ink around the ATC edges. These are the finished ATCs and here is a close-up of one of them:

And now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog to find out more about this hop (there are also prizes to be won, so make sure you join in the fun!!!). Have fun!!!

Let´s stay creative,
xxx, Sanna

Stenciled bookmark – STAMPlorations

Hello there everyone! It´s my turn today to share another mixed media step-by-step tutorial with you. I am very much looking forward to spring already and I have noticed that it shows in my recent work – mainly can be noticed in my color choices. And this project is no exception – lots and lots of happy spring colours peeking here and there. Hope you like it!

Here is what I created:

Take a piece of white plain cardstock (or a big manila tag). Cut into a tag form if you are using a piece of cardstock. Then spray with pink spray ink and let dry or use a heat tool to dry the surface.

Place the Flutterby ARTplorations stencil onto the misted, dry surface and take a palette knife and some Viva Decor Glitter Paste and apply the paste thru the stencil onto the tag with the palette knife. Since the paste is very „grainy“, make sure you wash the stencil after you have used it.

Remove the stencil carefully and let the paste air dry before moving over to the next step.

Take book themed paper bits and scraps, fussy cut them into right size and start adhering them onto the tag as you like. Add punched/die cut elements like butterflies to go with the background theme and decorate with ribbon, washi tape, brads, music notes and whatever you find suitable for the theme.

Take the Trendy Birds 2 stamps and a piece of old book paper and partially ink the sentiment stamp (only the word wings) and press the inked word into the paper. Fussy cut the word.

Next take the Trendy Feathers 2 stamp set and again only partially ink the stamp sentiment with the word „mind“ on it and press onto a piece of old book paper. Then fussy cut along the edges.

After that take small alpha stickers and build the quote „Books give wings to the mind“ with the partially stamped words and the alpha stickers. I always adhere the alpha stickers with paper glue to make sure they really stick to the surface and don´t come off later. Sometimes the adhesive bedind the alphas is not that strong on it´s own. Finally, add some white ink splatters for additional interest on top of all layers. If you don´t prefer splatters, just skip this step. That´s it. Here are some detail photos of the finished tag.

Hope you get inspired to play with glitter paste and stencils!!! Have fun!!!

Loved much? – Canvas Corp Brands

Starting off with a white paper is one of my favorite things to do when scrapbooking. Creating a unique background to each layout is such a fun, creative process and there is for sure no second page alike. The Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins papers are also perfect for this purpose! You can color them in with watercolor, paints, mists, inks, pastels and more. Here is the paper I started with:

And here is what I ended up with after mixing lots of yummy Tattered Angels color and Canvas Corp fussy cut papers together:

SONY DSCIf you haven´t tried the Mixed Media Origins papers yet, here are a few good reasons why you definitely should:

1. the paper feels like fabric
2. it is extra strong and you cannot tear it easily
3. the paper will dry flat after applying water and heavy paints
4. it can be fussy cut into smaller pieces and holds its shape
5. the paper is two sided so you have your choice in designs (now, we all know how hard it is to choose a side, so you might actually want to buy doubles 😉 …)
6. coloring is very much in trend now, so why not create your own coloring book style layout backgrounds with these papers?

I wanted to use there photos, as they have a special meaning to them. The great cousins meet after a long time (in London, as it happens, how practical that the paper is London/UK themed! And a total coincidence!!!).  Two of the kids are almost grown up, and the other ones still very little. There is so much admiration from the little ones towards the big ones, and the grown up boys patiently play and goof around with the small kiddos.  Then comes the sudden attack of affection. What special memories!!! I just needed to capture these precious moments on a layout.  I chose to print my photos in black and white, and use lots of happy Tattered Angels colors on the papers. In a start-to-finish video tutorial you can see how this layout comes together.

SONY DSCSupplies:
1. Tattered Angels – Glimmer Mist: Olive Vine, Aquamarine, Italian Sunset, Turquoise, Sugar Maple, Summer Glow, Marigold & Tea Cup
2. Tattered Angels – Chalkboard Mist: Alaskan Salmon
3. Tattered Angels – Plain Jane Baseboard: Iris & Cardboard
4. Tattered Angels – High Impact Paint: Antique Gold, Black & Light Blue
5. Canvas Corp – Mixed Media Origins collection – Melody
6. 7gypsies – Ordre du jour 8×8 paper variety pack
7. Canvas Corp – Mix & Match pad – Spring Showers
8. White paint pen – Dylusions by Ranger
9. Wood veneer – Studio Calico
10. Canvas Corp – Turquoise and Orange burlap yarn strips
11. Black pen – Staedtler
12. Alphabet thickers – American Crafts
Tools:
1. Paint brushes
2. Heat tool
3. Precision scissors
4. Stapler
5. Paper glue – Aleene´s

Here is a how to video for my scrapbooking layout.

Step 1: Mist the background with Tattered Angels mists.  Add white color with the paint pen to the words in the middle of the Origins papers, and add High Impact Paint splatters here and there. Color some details along the edges of the paper. (see the video for reference on the different steps)
Step 2: Next, use paint brushes for coloring the flower pieces from the mix & match pad.
Step 3: Fussy cut all of the flowers and butterflies, and fussy cut words from the Ordre Du Jour paper pad.
Step 4: Assemble the photos on top of the colored pieces, and then add the burlap yarn, the fussy cut words, and wood veneer around the photos.
Step 5: Lastly, add journaling and the title with white alphabets. Have fun!
SONY DSC SONY DSCI hope you get inspired to try some of these papers and colours out yourself!!!

ATC set Vol. 3 – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello lovelies! In my two previous posts I´ve shared my first and second set of 4 ATC cards. These were all part of the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew ATC swap. I didn´t want to create 12 similar ATC´s, so I made sets of 4. Now afterwords, when I think of it, I should have made sets of 5, that way there would have been one of each for me, but too late now :-). This is my starting point for the third set:

Sanna LippertI again used the ATC kraft card bases for these four ATC cards. Then I chose a totally gorgeous piece of paper from the 7gypsies Ordre Du Jour collection (love that paper pack!!!) to go with the kraft bases. Isn´t this particular paper just amazing??!!! Love it!

I first started by adhering the in size cut patterned paper pieces onto the kraft base. Then i applied some Imagine Crafts pearlescent Creative Medium onto the patterned paper thru a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil.

Sanna LippertNext some random Glimmer Mist splatters – tone: Rosey. I also fussy cut some sentiments from the paper and added them on top of the paper. Then I created clusters with sewing yarn, misted & punched little stars and some transparent resin buttons (those I made a while back as an experiment with my Mold Muse molds). Finalyl some outlining with a black pen and white ink splatter details here and there.

Sanna LippertThis is how the finished 4 ATC´s look like:

Sanna Lippertand some detail photos:

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertHere are all 3 sets I sent on their way to my swap partners. I really do hope they liked their ATC´s! I have enjoyed receiving REAL MAIL from all around the world!! This has been such a fun thing to do. I sure hope there will be a possibility to do another swap of some kind soon. Sanna LippertThere is still one more ATC I need to share, so if you are still interested, come back soon to take a look at that one :). Oh, and in that post I might also share the ones I received, so far there are 10 out of 12 that arrived, so I still need to wait for the last ones to arrive, before sharing them (and how I store them) with you.

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

ATC set Vol. 2 – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello lovelies! On my previous post I told you about the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew ATC swap and that I had created several sets of ATC´s for that. Here comes the second set:

Sanna LippertMy starting point waas the 7gypsies kraft ACT card base package and some papers from the 7gypsies Ordre Du Jour collection. I chose a paper and cut it slightly smaller than the ATC bases were.

Sanna LippertI started by stamping onto the patterned paper with a  Susan K Weckesser stamp (from the Grandma´s Needlepoint stamp set) stamp and black waterproof ink.

Sanna LippertNext I went and mixed some Cardboard Chalkboard spray ink and transparent texture paste together. I then added some toned paste thru a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil onto the patterned paper pieces.

Sanna LippertBefore the paste was dry, I quickly applied some Multi Chrystal Glitter Mix onto the paste and let that layer dry. It adds a really nice vintagy shine to the surface and that goes really well with the colors and the papers. Sanna LippertAfter that I grabbed some more 7gypsies numbers, added some yellow sewign garn under them and glued some spray inked, punched stars and some random buttons as decoration on top.

Sanna LippertNaturally there also had to be some black Glimmer Glaze in there. It would not be me, if I didn´t add some black splatters :-). When the ATC´s were done, I adhered them onto the kraft ATC bases with a strong paper glue (Aleene´s). This is what they look like finished:  Sanna Lippertand here are some detail shots:Sanna LippertI added some doodled circles here and there in the end, for additional interest and outlined the stars with a black pen. I also wanted to add a motivational sentiment, so I did some hand written ones in matching tones. Sanna LippertThis was my second set of 4 ATC´s. I really enjoyed creating these and I hope the recipients also liked them.

There are still a few more to come, so I hope you come back soon to take a look at what´s coming next :-)!

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna
