Clean and simple hexagon cards – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello lovelies and happy Sunday! Today I am again up over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog with a set of clean and simple cards, created using basic die cut dies. My idea was to create a background pattern solely with the hexagon die to show you, that a simple basic die can be used in fun ways!

I also wanted to have a fun and colorful pattern, so I used Distress Inks in three different tones to create a blended color pattern. What better sentiment to add to a card like this than the „wishing you a colorful day“ one :).

I also did a second card in the same manner, this time using the Stitched Hexagons die cut die and another color scheme. This time I used pink, orange and yellow. Also on this card I didn´t do any water splatters. And that again creates a slightly different look to my second card.

I´ve also recorded a video about the card making process for you to watch – I hope you like it! For even more details on the cards and the process, hop over to the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

That´s it from me for today, I´ll be sharing another guest designer blog post for Elizabeth Craft Designs in June, so do stop by my (and their) blog for more in June.

Wishing you a great, crafty day!

Spring Fling 12 Days of Giveaways STAMPlorations Event

Hello lovelies and welcome to the STAMPlorations Spring Fling Event!!! This event started on the 1st of April and will continue until the 12th! The STAMPlorations team girls will be sharing spring themed project throughout this time period and today is my turn to share my first project.

For today´s post I´ve created a mixed media altered decor piece out of a tin can. Here is what I made:

I used a tuna paste tin as my base and a piece of concrete builds the base the tin stands on. That concrete piece is misted with Glimmer Mists and I used the Tonic Studios Craft Glue to adhere the two pieces together. I am really pleased with the good quality of the glue, it holds metal and concrete on place really well!

I started this project by painting the tin with Tattered Angels Decor & DIY paint which hold onto metal, wood and many other materials without any primer or sanding! And the great thing is that when it dries it creates a chalky kind of finish which look good on various surfaces.

For the background I started by digging my Gelli Arts Mini Printing Plates out and used a piece of packaging tissue paper (came with a pair of shoes I recently bought). I always save this type of papers for crafting projects :). I then took out some acrylic paints and the Whales Tale stencil and started creating patterns with the Gelli Plate and the stencil onto the tissue paper. You cannot see it really well, but there is a turquoise whales tale pattern going on on the bottom of the tin. I adhered it onto place with decoupage adhesive.

Next I used the Buttercups & Butterflies stamp set with black embossing powder to create the embossed flower images onto white cardstock. I used a fairly thick cardstock to make the flowers sturdy. Then I fussy cut them (there is also a matching die set available at the STAMPlorations store, if you not into fussy cutting ;-)..). After that I used Distress Inks to color  the flowers in two pink tones.

I sprayed some Red Tipped Roses Glimmer Mist on top of the tissue paper to create even more interest into the background. Next I adhered the flowers in place.

I then decorated the piece with thick hemp garn and little birdies. For interest I also added some Nuvo Confetti stars and sequins here and there. There is also two types of ribbon going around the tin on the outside. Also adhered on place with the Tonic Craft Glue. It holds everything on place like a dream!

Here on the tilted piece you can see the Whales Tale pattern on the bottom a little bit better. Finally I also added a small rub-on word on the very top on a piece of cord. This is my first Spring Fling project. I hope you have enjoyed reading thru the steps. Be sure to come back again on the 9th to see my second project. Now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog for even more fun spring themed projects!!!

Happy hoppin´!

All the best – Tonic Studios

Hello lovelies, today I`m again sharing another Tonic Studios product based card. I am totally in love with the very delicate German sentiment dies which will be available in April. Here I´ve again used the „All the best“-one, this time with blue paper. I love how it really jumps off the card against the pink and gold toned background.

I´ve created the background by first stamping the rose images onto white cardstock, then pouring white embossing powder on top and heat setting with a heat gun. Next I took a blending brush out and applied pink, green and golden Nuvo Embellishment Mousse tones on top of the embossed roses fairly randomly. The mousse blends really nicely with a blending brush and the embossing powder resists it really well.

That resulted in this resist technique background. After that I added the die cut sentiment which I adhered with the Nuvo Glue Pen again. Works really well!! For additional interest I cut the paper into strips leaving open areas in between the stripes, that way the white card base peeks thru those areas and creates a nice contrast to the card. For finishing touches I adhered some silver Nuvo sequins here and there.

That´s all from me for today. I hope you get inspired to try some of the techniques out yourself!!! See you soon with more projects, so hope you´ll drop by for more :).

Happy crafting,

Congratulations card – Tonic Studios

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! I´ve got a different colored congratulations card prepared for you today. It´s for an orange-themed wedding reception. I´ve used mainly Tonic Studios products in combination with Distress Inks in yellow-orange-red range.

The centerpiece heart is one of the German sentiment die sets available at Tonic Studios UK online store as well as on QVC.de. I´ve first folded a piece of A4 sized paper into half to create my card base. I used white cardstock for this purpose.

I then inked the background with light yellow, yellow, light orange, orange and red Distress Ink tones gradually moving from a lighter tone to a darker one.

The centerpiece is die cut from white cardstock and adhered onto the piece with a Nuvo Glue Pen. The very middle piece is inked first in yellow then highlighted with some orange ink tone. Next I added some double sided adhesive onto a strip of red cardstock and die cut the words „Liebe“ (=Love) and „Glückwunsch“ (=Congratulations) form it using the new German Tonic Sentiment dies. These will be available at QVC.de in April!!

For decoration I added some rose gold Nuvo Sequins around the heart. I really like how this card turned out, even though this is not my go-to color scheme.

This is it from me for today. Hope I could inspire you to create fun cards!!

Happy scrapping,
