Wall art piece

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! I am currently recovering from a cruciate replacement surgery and as I am writing this, I am still in the hospital (hoping to be able to go home soon). Thus, the regular posting here on my blog has been interrupted, because of that reason.

Therefore I am today sharing another wall art piece with you, that I created as a class sample a while ago.

This piece has lots of mixed media bits on it and was inspired by nature. When taking walks and traveling, I often pick pebbles, rocks, twigs and moss to take home with me and these pieces often end in a mixed media art piece later.

So for this piece I used a rock and a stick from nature to build my guardian angel. I added stenciling with Nuvo Glitter paste and one of my own stencil designs at STAMPlorations.

There is also plenty of misting on the background in various earthy colours, some canvas, tissue paper wings and natural toned cord on this piece. I also added a rub-on picture behind the “angels” head as a centerpiece.

I love creating canvases like these! This particular piece I later gifted a dear crafty friend, who lives in Thessaloniki :). I hope it brings joy to it´s new owner :).

That´s all for today. Now back to resting and recovering! That will be on my programm mainly for quite a few days now and then slowly getting into physiotherapeutical things and hopefully after 3 weeks, can toss the crutches too.

Hoping you all are healthy and keep that way, even though there is the situation of Covid-19. Let´s take care of ourselves and stay safe. Wishing you all a lovely day.

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

The Mixed Media Card Challenge #1 – a touch of nature

Hello lovelies!! Remember the new mixed media card challenge site I was lucky to join? Well, it is time for the first challenge reveal over there today!!!

This challenge can be interpreted quite freely, just make sure you follow the challenge rules (you can also find these rules on the right sidebar of the site):

HOW TO PLAY
1. Create a mixed media CARD based on the theme, with or without the optional element.
2. For this challenge only, you may create a mixed media TAG based on the theme.
3. Display the challenge graphic on your blog post and link back to this challenge post.
4. You may enter as many times as you want, as long as each entry is different.
5. You may combine a maximum of 7 challenges (6 other challenges plus ours).
6. Submit your projects by July 25, 11:55 p.m. PDT (GMT -700).
7. We’ll announce the winner and favorites on July 31.

This was my take for the challenge reveal:

I used a stencil to first create a faux watercolour image with it (Distress Inks applied over the stencil, then some water and finally press the image onto paper). After that I applied a layer of molding paste over the stencil (same one). Next I stamped the tag, did some outlining and added the color splatters and the wooden embellishments. After that I just took a twig (from my garden), added some twine around it and glued it down onto the card. The leaves are fussy cut from a residue piece of paper.

I am really excited about this first challenge – you just need to go and check out the cards my team colleagues created!!! So, so very inspiring!!!! Loving this challenge site already ♡ …

Hope to see lots of you join in on this challenge, you have time until the 25th of July!!!
See you there,
xoxo, Sanna
