DAP-journal / October 26th, 2022

Hello and happy Tuesday! Here is yet another page from my DAP-journal:

Here I used a transparent modeling paste with a stencil from my stencil line at STAMPlorations. On top of that (when dry) I applied some Tonic Shimmer Powder in various tones. The old photo is from my stash and on top of it all are some Tim Holtz sticker words.

This technique is one of my favorites to create a really colorful background. Makes me happy, just looking at the colors.

Thanks for stopping by!

Art moves AJ page

Hello and happy Saturday!!! Today I´m sharing another art journal page with you, this time from my black journal. This is my first take on a kraft page. Turned out quite fun with gloss sprays.

I wanted to see how the gloss sprays show on a kraft paper background and bright colours show really well. I love the resist surface they create! And the slight shine!

I just added spray splots and let them run on the page and react with each other. After that layer was dry, I sprayed midnight thru a stencil of mine (see both positive and negative image on the page).

Next I added some Tim Holtz Tiny Text stamp sentiments and misted and pasted (modeling paste thru a stencil of mine) baby wipe circles. I love the texture they create!

For finishing touches I added some chipboard numbers in same colours as on the background and then wrote the quote with a white signo uni-ball pen. Simple and easy, still quite a few layers but also some white space left still.

And now the most important question: Have you played with Dina´s gloss sprays yet? I´ve played just a little and I love them. So much fun! Totally love the glossy effect they create and the fact that there is no shimmer or shine to them. I do love shimmer sprays too, but it´s nice using ones without for a change :).

Hope your weekend is great!! Happy crafting,

Real life AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday!! Today I´m stopping by to share another peek into my art journal. This page started off with the blue background which I randomly applied (totally without any plan) onto the empty page with a thick paint brush.

Then I went away and came back to the page the next day. And when I looked at the blue “splat”, I could see a face in it. So I painted the eyebrows and eyes as wella as the hair and the mouth, where they seemed to emerge on their own in the blue colour. She turned out like this, because of the given tone differences on the background. And her facial impression is a very surprised/wondering one.

I wanted to concentrate on her and do very little additionally to the page. Thus, only added some spray ink thru a stencil as well as some heavy body paint thru another stencil (from my stencil line). I had a few random circles on my table, I they matched, therefore I added them.

The quote fits her facial expression so well. This quote had me thinking.. Why is it, that today, no matter where you turn to, you are quickly surrounded by fake people. Where did all the sincere people suddenly disappear to?

I´ll just leave that thought there and hope your day is a wonderful one!

Positive thoughts AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! Today I´m sharing another art journal page with you. This one, was just something I made quickly after work to sort my thoughts and calm my mind. Thus the messy look..

I just did random stuff, like applying paint and Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks onto the background. Then I drew the “flowers” with a Stabilo pen and colored them in with Scribble Sticks. After that I added the stenciling (spray ink tinted paste used as media here). The stencil is one of my own stencil designs at STAMPlorations.

After that I added the quote “grow positive thoughts”. Just a reminder for myself on what to focus on on tough days. And then I went crazy and added some darkness to the page by applying Liquitex ink (black) here and there, then misting it with water mist and letting the drips and drops do what they did on their own. The page looks a bit chaotic, but my day was that too, so it fits the mood. And I´m a mood journaler..

Wishing you a greater day than mine – and if your´s is as bad as mine, try putting those feelings down on your art journal page. It really helps to get rid of the weight we tend to carry with us. You´ll feel much better afterwords!! I promise!

Happy crafting,

Congratulations card

Hello everyone! I´ve still got one more card created with the residues of the card I shared yesterday.

On this card, instead of using texture/modeling paste with a stencil on the background, I used a embossing folder to create a pattern. Similar look, different technique.

Other that that it´s the exactly same idea and product. So if you missed yeterday´s video, go here, to see it. Just instead of applying paste, run a piece of white cardstock thru your die cutting machine with an embossing folder.

I am not a great coloring person. I think it´s because I don´t have the patience to color layers and shadows and shading. So I do this type of coloring. And it´s ok for me :). So if you are a really talented colorer (is that a word?), feel free to do some amazing coloring work on the flowers. I bet they´d look amazing that way too. I didn´t do it, because I can´t :). That simple.

Wishing you a fabulous, creative day!
