Stenciled, gel press background – STAMPlorations

Hello there everyone, here comes my STAMPlorations mixed media tutorial and start-to-finish video. I thought I´d create a scrapbook layout this time for a change. This is the layout I created using various ARTplorations stencils:

Here is how I created the layout:

1. Take a piece of residue paper and a piece of white cardstock, some acrylic paints in your favorite colours and a small Gelli plate and a brayer.

2. Add a few drops (very little paint goes a long way here!) of acrylic paint onto the Gelli plate, spread onto the surface with a brayer. See the video on more details!

3. Press the Gelli plate surface onto the cardstock and press lightly. Remove plate and you have a lovely paint press image on the paper.

4. Change the color and apply the paint like explained in the steps before. Next place a stencil over the acrylic paint area and roll over gently with the brayer. Next remove the stencil and press the image onto the cardstock piece. This time you will see a pattern in the finished image. Repeat and experiment with various colours and stencil patterns.

5. Take a patterned paper and the „X marks the Spot“ stencil and start applying some modeling paste onto the background thru the stencil with a palette knife. Let dry.

6. Cut the Gelli Plate images into triangles in various sizes. Arrange onto the background, take a photo with your mobile phone to make sure you don´t forget the order. Remove the triangles and apply spray ink splatters onto the background. Let dry.

7. Take „Trendy Feathers 2“ clear stamp set and stamp words onto the background with a gray and black stamp ink very randomly. Stamp more words and a sentiment onto white paper and fussy cut the pieces along the edges. Now adhere the triangles back to the patterned paper surface, add more stamping onto the background, if necessary.

8. Apply some modeling paste with the same „X marks the Spot“ stencil over the triangles for a fun detail. Let dry.

9. Embellish with stickers, wood veneer, puffy stickers and add a alpha sticker title. Adhere the fussy cut words onto the background with the photos. Add a date stamp and write the journaling for the page.

10. Finally add some black texture splatters here and there for additional detail.

Here is the video for more details and step-by-step. All used products are listed on the video. Hope you enjoy!

I hope you get inspired to try out your own gel press, stenciled images and maybe even a fun scrapbook layout with them! Have fun!

Happy scrapping,

xxx, Sanna

Nikolo – The Nifty Pixel

Hello lovelies!!! It is again time for another hybrid layout tutorial with The Nifty Pixel digi kits turned into hybrid and then into a paper layout :-). Sounds complicated, but it isn´t!!! Just print the digi desings with your home color printer and use them like you would use regular scrapbook papers!!! Easy, right?

For this months hybrid tutorial I created a video for a change! I really, really adore this paper kit. It is actually a maritime themed kit called ADRIFT, but I´ve used it for a Christmas themed page – works for me!!!  Here is the finished page:

Sanna Lippert - Hybrid scrapbook page, Nikolo

and some detail photos:

I love lightbulbs and there are some bits and pieces on the page that I grabbed from the Happy Home collection. The clock and the lightbulb are actually from this vellum piece set:

Happy Home, the Nifty PixelThey work really well together with the ADRIFT collection. Well, actually every single kit works together with each other. The are always some bits and pieces you can combine together!!! And now for the tutorial, here is the video, hope you like it!!!

Here is a peek on the complete collection. Isn´t it pretty?

ADRIFT, THE NIFTY PIXELThe kit is bursting with gorgeous seashore themed bits and pieces and the papers are just a dream!!! I hightly recommend you grab yourself this kit as long as it is available!!! You will not regret it! I even created a small altered display piece with this kit for my studio (will share that later). I can see myself using this kit again and again also in the future.

So I promised you another project with this kit and that will follow very soon. This and the next project will also be my very last ones for The Nifty Pixel design team. I will for sure be using the kits also in my later work here and there, but not as a design team member anymore. Having been on the team for three years and some, it is time to give someone new a chance! So this will actually be my farewell project as a design team member. It´s been an amazing three years on the team!! I´ve really enjoyed every second of it and would like to thank Em for having me in the team so long. I will Keep on Stalking Em, the team girls and The Nifty Pixel Website in the future thru social media. Thank you Em for everything! It has been an amazing time and I´ve learned so much about hybrid!!!

Happy hybrid crafting,

Be awesome and enjoy life – The Nifty Pixel

Hello lovelies, time for my April hybrid layout tutorial. This time I´ve used the Gesso Goodness and the Who Lives Here kits as my starting point. Here is an overview on those:

Gesso Goodness Vol.3 | Paint TexturesGesso Goodness Vol.2 | Paint Textures Makin' Marks Vol.3 | Brush & Stamp Set Who Lives Here? | Paper Pack

I started by choosing the pink w/ gold splatters background paper from the Who Lives Here? paper pack as my patterned paper base. Next I added various bits and pieces and elements from the Gesso Goodness and Makin´ Marks sets onto the patterned paper. I layered them over each other and faded some more onto the backgrund while keeping part of the elements more bold. That way the background is more interesting to the eye.

Sanna LippertWhen I was happy with what I´d created, I again printed the digi paper design out with my Epson A3 format color printer and cut that into a right size.

Sanna LippertI chose a black cardstock as a base for my DIY paper piece and glued it down. Next I printed two portrait images of me (one in color and one in black and white) with my Canon Selphy photo printer. I really do like the fact that I have a small photo printer next to my computer. It makes it so easy to just pick one of two photos from my computer and scrap just those. I used to print huge amounts of photos at once, but then they were all the same size and all in color since I didn´t bother editing them much before printing. I find that this limits the creative process a bit. It can be lots of fun to first edit the photos, change sizes and colors and design and then print them and create a layout with them.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertThis time I wanted to add some random bits from my „traditional“ stash to go with the layout, so I picked a light pink scallop ribbon and a piece of white lace. I colored the lace with Distress Stain and Plain Jane Simply Sheer spray ink (all tones in pink) to match my papers.

Sanna LippertAfter the lace was dry, I glued it on it´s place and took a 3rd Eye (sadly, the company closed their shop) circle stamp and added some stamped black images onto the background. I found that they worked really well together with the Makin´ Marks set.

Sanna LippertSince there were golden dots already on the background paper, I added some more using the golden texture spray from Imagine Crafts. It leaves a nice dimensional splatter, when dry. Sanna LippertThen I grabbed some chipboard stars (also 3rd Eye) and black texture spray. Some older Studio Calico stickers also went really well together with the kit designs, so I added those too. Sanna LippertAh, and some more texture spray. The white splatters make the background look more „fresh“. And then again some DIY words (from my lovely scrappy friend Lizzy) had to be added. They work really well with the hybrid paper! I wish I had such a nice handwriting…good thing I have her to deliver me nicely written and cut words!!! Thank you, Lizzy <3

Sanna LippertThe some date stamping to document the date when the photos were taken.

Sanna LippertSome puffy stickers from Evalicious and from a Studio Calico kit. The golden ones worked perfectly with this layout theme.

Sanna LippertNext I added some journaling and the layout was done.

Sanna LippertHere are some detail shots: Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert I really enjoyed combining various digi kits together – all designed by The Nifty Pixel. Then just adding all kind of little tidbits for decoration. Such a fun process to do. Like I´ve said previously, I enjoy the fact that I can create the first „layered“ background paper in digital form, then print it out and work my way towards the finished layout from there. That way the layouts don´t get so bulky either. Still lots of detail and layers going on in there, but easily fits a photo album pocket.

I hope you will give The Nifty Pixel kits a try!!!
Happy hybrid scrapbooking,

Bella BLVD & Canvas Corp Brands Team-Up week – You have my heart

bella boulevard hop banner 4Hello lovelies and welcome to the Bella BLVD and Canvas Corp Brands Team Up week!! I am very thrilled to be able to be part of this design team-up and today it´s time to share my final project – a super bright and happy layout:

Sanna LippertI started with a piece of Ken Oliver Water Media Paper. I always added a small splodge of water mist onto the paper, then opened a spray ink bottle and let ink droplets fall into the wet area. The colors need to dry completely before adding the second color, that way they don´t blend with each other. I wanted to create a half ciecle with the color splodges.

Sanna LippertNext I took a circle punch and punched quite a few circles out of the Sweet Sweet Spring collection papers (links to the used products at the end of this post). After that I inked the edges with faded jeans Distress Ink. When I had enough circles, I first adhered the white paper piece onto a light blue patterned paper and then glued all the circles overlappingly next to each other. Then I covered some parts of the colored circle with patterned paper strips and outlined those with a black pen.  Sanna LippertI added faux stitching around the edges with a black pen, adhered a Chipboard Script word „Hello“ on top of the patterned paper strips and using small alpha stickers, added some journaling underneath the title. Sanna LippertThere are also stickers from the same paper collection in there. I´ve outlined those with a black pen to make them stand out more from the bold background. Sanna LippertI again used black Glimmer Glaze splatters as contrast against the bold and colorful background and fussy cut some sentiments from the patterned paper to add around the photo. Sanna LippertThis is how the finished layout looks like:

Sanna LippertMake sure to check out both the Bella BLVD and the Canvas Corp Brands blog and social media sites all week, as there will be lots of fun projects to be shared. AND there will also be a GIVE AWAY at the end of the week at their blog, so you don´t want to miss that :)!!!

Bella BLVD & Canvas Corp Brands BLOG HOP – I love you

bella boulevard hop banner 4Hello lovelies and welcome to the Bella BLVD and Canvas Corp Brands Team Up week!! Today I´d like to share my second design team-up project with you – a bright and happy layout created with the Sweet Sweet Spring papers and Tattered Angels spray inks:

Sanna LippertAs a starting point I took a piece of Ken Oliver Water Media Paper, and using a pencil drew the areas onto the paper where my photos will later be. I then took a water tank paint brush and used the Tutti Frutti tone from the Candendar Mist Kit (English Garden) to paint some hearts onto the background (for supplies, see links on the end of this post).

Sanna LippertAfter drawing the hearts I used the Iris Baseboard tone from the same Calendar Kit and added purple droplets onto the background around the photos.

Sanna LippertNext I used the Olive Wine Glimmer Mist from the same calendar kit and drew green flowers with a paint brush onto the background.

Sanna LippertI wanted to add soem stamping around the photos, so I took a 7gypsies stamp and a turquoise marker to create blue stamped images.

Sanna LippertFinally I also used the Ivory Baseboard tone from the Calendar Kit to create white droplets here and there for additional detail.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertThen I added some yellow and pink spray ink droplets onto the background (Summer Glow, Tea Cup & Rosey from Tattered Angels). I also colored the Bella BLVD Chipboard Scripts with the kit colors and added some faux stitching with a white gel pen.

I then cut the water media paper into a right size and several different paper strips on the sides of the layout from the Sweet Sweet Spring collection.

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertFinally I outlined some of the papers and the red hearts with a black pen, added some white hightlights here and there and stamped a date next to the photos. And I could not leave my favorite product, the black Glimmer Glaze unused, so in the end I added just a few droplets fo black here and there for additional contrast.

This is how the fnished layout looks like:

You are perfect – The Nifty Pixel

Hello lovelies, time for another hybrid layout tutorial! This time I´ve used the fun „Core Radiance“ kit for my layout. Here is an overview of the fabulous collection designed by The Nifty Pixel. If you click the image, it will take you directly to the store.

Core Radiance | Collection

Here again my starting point. I´ve used the lovely pink patterned paper from the paper kit as my starting point and then layered various elements over it. Some I´ve faded a bit into the background or reduced in shade and others I left as they were. That way there is more dept and variation in the background which makes it more interesting to look at. When I was happy with my digital paper design, I just printed it with my Epson A3 format color printer and cut the paper into size.

Sanna LippertSince the paper I print is always slightly smaller than 12×12 cardstock, I like to adhere the DIY paper onto a piece of cardstock. That way I get a matching size to my traditional scrapbook layouts. I again decided to use black and white photos to make the background stand out more. I had so many colors going on on those photos that they would have distracted the eye from the beautiful DIY paper background. I really, really like how the background turned out.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertNext I glued the DIY paper onto the cardstock, added DIY words (a present from my lovely scrappy friend Lizzy) and decided to use black puffy alpha stickers with the photos.

Sanna LippertHere I am adding some more cool puffy stickers (by Evalicious) to go with my design. I only used matching colors to keep the page more harmonical.

Sanna LippertI usually create a A3 sized paper with all kinds of words, elements and designs from the kit assemblied on it, then print it out with my Epson printer and fussy cut the pieces I want to use. The rest I leave on the paper sheet, so I can later go thru various sheets and choose the pieces I want to use. If I fussy cut them all at once, it will be not easy to find the preferred image fast. This way they stay more organized. I could also add the kit name on the sheet to remind me from which kit which images are from (note to self).

Sanna LippertThis time I used elements from the WHO LIVES HERE digi collection kit to go with my Core Radiance DIY patterned paper design. It is really funny how all Em´s designs go so well together, regardless of the kit theme!!!

Who Lives Here? | Elements Pack

Who Lives Here? | Flair Buttons

And then after fussy cutting and glueing the bits and pieces on their places I again added just a few black texture spray droplets here and there (by Imagine Crafts). I also outlined some puffy stickers with a black pen to make them stand out more from the background.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertAnd a date stamp is there to remind me when this happy moment took places. You tend to forget as the days go by, so I always try to add a date (stamped/written) somewhere.

This is how the finished layout looks like – my favorite dudes and some of my favorite products united 🙂 :

Sanna Lippertand some detail shots:

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert So I did pink with masculine 🙂 and I really like it!!! I hope you liked reading thru this tutorial. It is really not hard at all to do your own paper designs with digi kits like this. It can be so much fun!!! I hope you will give it a try!!!

Home is… – The Nifty Pixel

Hello there lovelies!! It has been a while I shared a hybrid layout tutorial with you, so here it finally is!!! This time I´m sharing a layout created with the absolutely gorgeous WHO LIVES HERE digital kit by The Nifty Pixel. Just take a look at these fun, happy and bright designs!!! I LOVE them!!

Who Lives Here? | Collection

I always start digital. That means I start by designing my own background paper first. I do that by combining and layering various elements, papers and designs from the kit to create a starting point. Then I print the DIY hybrid paper with my Epson A3 format color printer and from there it´s all hybrid.

Sanna LippertNext I choose a regular cardstock to glue my in size cut hybrid paper on and pick some photos I want to use with the papers.

Sanna LippertOf course there have to be some black splatters of some kind – I am severy addicted in using those ;-). This time I used black texture spray from Imagine Crafts.

Sanna LippertSince there is already quite much going on on the background with all the colors and textures, I found that I didn´t need that much additional detail, so I just added some small bits and pieces here and there in clusters.

Sanna LippertSome chipboard clouds, badges and puffy stickers did the trick for me.

Sanna LippertFinally I just added the sentiment: „Home is where my heart is!“ and stamped the date here and there with the date stamp. You can get those from a regular office supply store.

Sanna LippertI really like creating this kind of hybrid layouts as you can add designs over each other and create an „almost finished“ starting point and adjust and modify it as long as you get it right and first print it when you are happy with it.

Creating layouts can be really fast this way as there will be hardly any drying times and waiting for a layer to dry before moving over to the next step. Here is the finished layout:
Sanna Lippertand some detail shots:

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertThis kit was perfect for my photos. We´ve been thru a process of renovating a house for six years and were so thrilled to finally be able to move in to our new home. As fas as I am concerned, this can be our last big building project. I was glad to be able to create a layout about the place where our heart is.

I do hope you will get inspired to try some digital/hybrid scrapbooking out. It can be such a fun process! And I am by no means a professional/skilled digi scapper, so if I can do it, you can do it too :). Have fun!!!!

Xmas hybrid layout tutorial – The Nifty Pixel

A while back I promised to share a tutorial for the hybrid layout called „Xmas“ – created with The Nifty Pixel digi collection called Berry & Fawn. It is almost Valentine´s already, so about time to finally share this..

Sanna LippertSo this is the finished hybrid layout, created with this Berry & Fawn kit:

The Nifty Pixeland this is how I created the layout:

Sanna LippertI first chose the pink toned patterned paper as my starting point and added some Vignette Impressions and bits and pieces from the Elements pack onto that paper. I do all this „prework“ with InDesign and when I am done with the digital layers, I print the paper with my Epson A3 format color printer.

Sanna LippertNext I took a regular light blue cardstock to adhere the hybrid paper on and since the paper is very bold and lively, I printed the photos in black and white. I use a Canon Selphy for printing my photos.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertAfter that I took a golden doily and some hand written words (both a present by my lovely scrappy friend Lizzy – I adore the words!!) and assemblied those next to the the photos.

Sanna LippertSince there is a lot of pattern and detail in the background already, I found that I didn´t need that many elements to accompany, so I pretty much kept with the words and the doily.

Sanna LippertJust added a few wood veneer trees here and there for additional detail.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertNext I punched a few white snowflakes out of the residue piece of the pink patterned paper. They really go with the digi snowflakes so well that almost cannot tell the difference. I hope you can also see the pink glitter details on the background? Well, that is one additional element from the digi collection, not real glitter!! Does sure look like real one, doesn´t it?!!

Sanna LippertNext I added a few white texture spray splatters here and there for additional interest. The spray is by Imagine Crafts.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertFinally I just glued the wood veneer title down on it´s place, added some Stickles onto the wooden elements. It is a Christmas themed page, so some additional glitter is just fine :).

sannalippertSo with just a few bits and pieces and small touches the layout is finished. Fast, fun and easy!!! Hope you enjoyed this little step-by-step!

Happy hybrid scrapping!!

Xmas – The Nifty Pixel Berry & Fawn collection

Hello there everyone! Today I´d like to share one more Christmas themed post with you. What can I say, it is THAT time of the year, so the posts tend to be Christmas related…

This time I´ll share a hybrid layout with you – based on a digi kit by The Nifty Pixel called „Berry & Fawn“. This is one gorgeous digital kit!! Lots of beautiful patterned papers (even glitter papers!!), pocket fillers, frames, tags, you name it – all in this fab collection!!!

Here is a peek into the gorgeousness:

berryandfawnTNPand here is my layout created with this collection:

Sanna LippertI have used the Vignette Impressions on the background with the patterned paper in pink (from this set). There are also a few bits and pieces added to the background from the Elements pack. A step-by-step tutorial will be coming up soon too, so if you are interested on how I created this layout, make sure to come back for that :).

I loved creating my hybrid layout with this kit! So, so, so much fun! And the „real“ bits and pieces in there are from my stash & a present from my lovely scrappy friend Lizzy. Thank you ever so much – I ADORE those b&w words!!! <3

That´s it for today, lovelies. I still have some serious Christmas preparations to do, so I´ll keep it short today :-). Have a wonderful day, whatever you are doing <3

Happy hybrid scrapping!
