Typografia Motivate STAMPlorations blog hop

Hello everyone! It´s again blog hop time at STAMPlorations blog, revealing a brand new stamp release called “Typografia Motivate”!! And let me tell you these stamps are great – I love the look of them and they are so very versatile and fit so many kinds of projects from ATCs to art journals to cards. I created two sets of cards & tags for this hop with two stamps from this release. Here they are:

I love this typografia sentiments – a good reminder to try and do the things you think you can´t! That is the only way to grow…

To give you an idea on how I made these cards, I´ve recorded a little step-by-step video for you to watch. The idea is very, very simple and these cards are very fast and easy to create, so if you happen to need a bigger amount of similar cards, this might be an idea to consider. Enjoy!

And then I went and created two tags and a card in a totally different color sheme than the previous ones. These practically scream sunshine feeling :-).

I´ve used the “Great Love” Typografia Motivate stamp on all 3 projects. And I did again play with Distress Oxides too. I really like the chalky effect on the heart background tag, created with the oxides. The heart stencil I´ve used is by ARTplorations, by the way (as are all the stencils also used on my darker card set too).

I wanted to use the stamp images as the focal point on all three projects, so I kept the rest very simple by adding happy colors and small  details like flowers, burlap and ribbons. I really love the soft look of the oxides on the background plus the various fonts used on this particular stamp. This is such a great release – I have a feeling the stamps will be very popular at the store and sell out very fast (adding note to self to buy some before they are sold out!).

Speaking of shopping, I would like to remind you to take advantage of my personal 20% off code at the STAMPlorations store. Add the code “STAMPGIRLSANNA” to the gift card code section upon checkout and get 20% off your order (good for both sale and regular price items!!).

Now make sure you follow the hop rules (noted here on the STAMPlorations blog main hop post) to be in for the win of 3 Typografia Motivate stamps of your choice!!! How´s that for an awesome win?!! The winner will be randomly drawn from all comments left on the STAMPlorations and DT member blogs joining this hop. The winners are announced on the 29th of August at the STAMPlorations blog.

Have fun hopping and shopping!!! Stay inspired :-),
Sanna

STAMPlorations 4th Birthday blog hop

Hello lovelies, it´s party time!!! STAMPlorations is turning 4 in June and it´s time to celebrate this milestone with a new product!! There is a five day long (June 26-30) blog hop with the theme “Celebrate!” prepared for you.

“ATTENTION – VERY LONG POST COMING UP :-)”….

I have prepared two different sets following the “Celebrate” theme for your for this hop:

SET ONE:
For the first set I used the Congrats word stamp and die cut die. I love this die so much, the fond is fabulous  and it has the perfect size for various projects. Even fits on a tag and  an ATC. Love it! Here are the cards I created with this die and stamp combo:

and this is how I created these cards:

I first stamped with VersaMark embossing ink and heat embossed the sentiments with silver embossing powder.

Next I added a layer of Tattered Angels Tutti Frutti spray ink on top. Since the ink does not stick to the embossed areas (they resist the ink), I could easily wipe away the residue with a piece of cloth. Underneath is the finished background piece.

I wanted to decorate at least one card with these DIY stenciled, punched, layered flowers (see the how-to here). I love how they look so I made a few more – going to save them for other projects to come. I then adhered the background to a card base, added faux stitching, some ribbon, wood veneer, hand drawn leaves and a Tim Holtz stickers sentiment for decoration. This is how the first card look like:

The next three cards follow the same principle, the parts are just added in different order. I first die cut the Congrats word from a piece of white cardstock. I left the word itself white and misted the residue piece pink with the same Glimmer Mist tone as previously.

Then I cut a few more words the same way, this time leaving the background white and misting the sentiment instead. Then I just layered all pieces in various order on top of each other, added stickers sentiments (Tim Holtz) and some ink splatters (Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze) and wood veneer or rhinestones for decoration. So by varying which part got misted, the result always looks a little bit different. Still all cards are very quick and easy to create.

(On this white card the sentiment is misted)

(On this card I added only partial misting to the background by spraying onto my kraft sheet and pressing the cardstock onto the ink. Creates a different look the on the fully misted card background on the last card. Second card has a white Congrats sentiment on it)

(this card has a fully misted background and the congrats sentiment has in splatters on it as well as a layer of Stickles for additional sparckle)

SET TWO:

For my second set I used the Shaker Balloons #2 die cut die set and Fearless 3×5 stamp set as well as the matching die cut die. This is how my tag and card look like:

And here is how I did them:

I first die cut some Shaker Balloons from white cardstock. I then adhered them on top of each other to form a frame for the beads. Next I die cut the word fearless and the Shaker Balloon from my card background paper. I used washi tape to keep the dies from moving. Works really good that way. After removing the die cut pieces I adhered the paper onto my card base. Then I placed the previously created “shaker frame” inside the die cut area and adhered it onto the card base. Next I die cut a piece of plastic to create a window on top of the frame. I filled the frame with small beads, adhered the plastic piece on top and added another frame on top. Then I die cut another sentiment with white cardstock and adhered it onto the background. I used partial stamping technique to add the sentiment on top of the die cut word and finally adhered the twine to the balloon. Some faux stitching for decoration and some ink splatters for additional interest. That´s it. Also very easy to do. And by layering the die cut stars on top of each other, you will get a foolproof frame for the shaker pieces and don´t need to add foam tape to create dimension. I find this way easier than cutting foam tape into right size.. This is the finished card:

And then to the tag. I used the leftover brown “fearless” die cut word (leftovers from the card above) as a starting point. I added a piece of leftover background paper (also from the card above) next to the word. Before adhering them onto my tag, I spray inked the tag in matching color (Tattered Angels Simply Sheer Soft Peach). I also added a layer of iridescent modeling paste (Imagine Crafts) thru the Doily Squares stencil onto the background paper piece for additional detail. Then I just added a stamped sentiment from the Fearless stamp set and some ink splatters, wood veneer and twine for decoration. So that was very easy too and I used up all leftover pieces too!
The tag also has a wooden button from my stash on it and I added some dimention to the die cut word with a layer of Glossy Accents. I really like how this tag turned out.

Masculine, rustic boho style layout – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello there, everyone and happy Saturday!!! It has been a LONG, LONG while, since I made a scrapbook page. I have been “distracted” by other types of projects recently. Then this photo fell into my hands, while cleaning up the mess the burglars left behind when they broke into our house earlier this year…and I don´t know if it was due to the emotional ups and downs after the burglary or something else that made me feel the urge to document some stories again.

I wanted to document my thoughts about my dad onto this page. He sadly didn´t get to live a very long life and I never really got to say goodbye. So there are lots of things that still dwell in my mind from time to time. I wanted to record these things, put them on paper. The journaling, because very personal, is hidden inside the envelope. I put it there, so my boys one day can read it and get a better idea of our family history. It is part of their story too.

So a big part of my layout making is documenting, putting thoughts and feelings down on paper. BUT I also have fun with the product!!! 🙂

I´ve used plenty of Canvas Corp Brands (Tattered Angels, Canvas Corp & 7gypsies) product on this layout. In the video you will find all the used product listed and will get a better idea on how I proceed when creating a layout. Hope you like it!

Happy scrapping,

Light the way ATC

Hello there, lovelies and happy Monday. Today I´m dropping by to share a Artist Trading Card I made quite some while ago. I made this one for a design team colleague who had been going thru some hard times with her family. I didn´t feel like sharing this ATC back then, but now feels like a good time to quickly put this up.

I kept this ATC pretty simple. It is for a sad occation and I wanted to concentrate on the colours and add just small details. The die cut cloud is by 4heures37 (a French manufacturer), the flowers are from my stash. The heart is by Basic Grey and the book paper is from an old latin school book. I misted it with Chalkboard ink tone “Splash”. Added the texture spray “raindrops”, some DIY twine (thanks Lizzy!) and a leftover mini die cut piece. The rub-on words are by Tim Holtz.

Wishing you all a good start into the new week,
xxx, Sanna

Make Art Discoveries – STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday

It is Sunday which means that it is time for another STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday! For this weeks inspirational post I created a mixed media home decor piece – a wall hanging of a kind. I call it “Make Art Discoveries”.

It all started with the mini hanger which is by Jillibean Soup. It comes in a set of two and measures ca. 5,5 inch in width. I started with a piece of kraft cardstock that I sprayed darker with Tattered Angels Baseboard tone Cardboard. Next I cut a piece of eco dyed fabric (learned how to do it from my lovely friend Tina last summer) into a suitable size. I added some hand stitching around the edges. Now I am not very talented with yarn and needles, but it doesn´t matter if the result is not that perfect. Next I placed the ARTplorations “Hidden Hearts” stencil onto the fabric and added green iridescent creative medium onto the fabric thru the stencil. The media is by Imagine Crafts and I love it!!! Since it is iridescent on a light background you will not see it in the photos that well..therefore I took this against the light photo above. Here you can really see the shimmery background pattern quite nicely. After the paste was dry, I glued the fabric onto the background with a strong fabric glue (Beacon Adhesives). Then I started adding bits and pieces.

The butterfly on top is a flea market find. It is a cookie/pastry form which I filled with a turquoise burlap piece, then applied some turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter on top and finished off with a layer of Judi Kins Diamond Glaze. I let it dry a little before adding the word (thank you, Lizzy, love these words you made!!), the red yarn and the half pearl on top. Finally I finished it off with some green glass glitter. It needed to dry out properly before I could use it, so I left it to rest for days.

The next piece is a found object – a regular stone. I just added the work “make” (from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Big Chat sticker sheet). And decorated the edges with Gold Stickles.

The wooden scrabble letters are by Papermania Bare Basics. I adhered those onto the chipboard piece with gel medium (by Faber-Castell). The chipboard piece is misted with grey spray ink (I used the same Hidden Hearts stencil to create the pattern) and then decoreated with Gold Stickles.

On the very bottom there are two wax seals I made and on top of those I added a Tim Holtz Idea-ology word band “Discoveries”. The orange paint is the Heavy Body Tangerine paint by Dina Wakley. I attached the word band with a piece of twine. All pieces and the eco dyed lace piece underneath are adhered on their places with gel medium. Once it is dry the pieces will not come off :). I also added a few stamples here and there for additional grungy detail and to make sure the fabric piece can carry the weight of the decorational elements.

Finally I added a few white paint droplets here and there very freely to finish this piece. It will decorate my art corner in our house later. I sure had a fun time creating this stenciled mixed media piece. I hope you will get inspired to create something fun for your home with stencils too!!! And don´t forget to check out the current Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations blog. There is still enough time to join in with us!!!

Happy creating!!
