Zur Taufe

Hello lovelies! Today´ s share is another pocket gift card – this time for christening. I used a cute hippo die cut die for this card – hope you like the inspiration!

It is a slimline card in size again, because I think gift pocket cards just look more festive in this size. So what do you think about the hippo? I just love it! It comes with both girly lashes or can be done for a boy theme too.

I die cut the image from light blue cardstock and inked the edges with Distress Oxide Speckled Egg tone. The teeth and the belly is die cut from white cardstock. I first colored the nails, ears and toes with a blue alcohol marker and outlined with a black one, but wanted to add more shine to them, so I applied Nuvo Drops on top in the end.

The German sentiment “Zur Taufe” is from Tonic Studios, as is the hippo, by the way. The blue paper I used on the inside and as my background paper is, I think, a digi paper designed by The Nifty Pixel. It just worked perfectly with the overall look of the card.

On top of the blue paper I added a piece of white cardstock which I added stamping onto (a Stampin´ Up! stamp) with Distress Oxide. I inked the edges in a darker blue for more contrast, but just very lightly.

On the inside I used the same papers and added a business card holder pocket with a flap for the present to be added. Here in Austria it is a tradition to gift “Philharmoniker” gold coins for christening, so they will fit nicely into the pocket. On the right side there is enough white space for a nice greeting, too.

The pocket flap mechanism is an easy fold from light blue cardstock and on the business card sleeve there is a strip of double sided clear adhesive. After adding the coins it can easily be closed and the coins will not fall out even if you tilt the card.

I hope I could inspire you a little with this gift pocket card! See you again next week with more crafty shares! Have a great weekend,

A set of baby cards – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello everyone, it´s my turn to share a set of “build a Hippo” baby cards over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog. I adore this little die cut die so much! It´s perfect for so many occations and like made for creating baby cards! And while I was at it, a created a set of three. You never know when you need one!

This is how I created the cards:

Step 1: First take a sheet of White Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut 3 sets of Hippos. And don´t forget to die cut the feet six times!!
Step 2: Next take a sheet of Soft Sky and Dusky cardstock and die cut two sets with the Stitched Rounded Rechtangle from the blue paper and one set from the lilac one.
Step 3: Take a white Soft Finish Cardstock sheet (or glitter cardstock) and die cut three sets with the Postage Stamp Rectangles die cut die.
Step 4: Ink the hippo pieces with grey and pink stamp ink, but leave the eyes and teeth white.

Step 5: Now cut blue and purple patterned paper into a card size from the polka-dotted “Thinking about Polinesia” paper. Adhere onto the card base.
Step 6: Attach a piece of ribbon in blue and pink onto the cards, then adhere the rechtangle pieces on place. Start with the postage stamp piece and adhere the rounded rectangle on top.
Step 7: Add a stamped sentiment using the Ahoy Sentiments or the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set and black stamp ink.
Step 8: Color the tiny eye pieces with a black marker and adhere on place.

To give you a better idea of each and every step, I´ve again recorded a video for your to watch. I hope you like it!

I hope I could inspire you to play with your die cut dies a little today and create a few cards yourself! I´ll be back with another project next month.

Until then, happy crafting!
