Creative Midsummer Challenge – Day 1

I decided to join the Finnish Creative Midsummer Challenge on FB. There is a new theme up for every day until Midsummer and one can freely choose what type of project one wants to make. First day´s theme was bug/insect:

I used a gelli printed background paper in green, then did a diy tag from a leftover paint piece, added a brad and some stamping with a Dina Wakley stamp and grey Hero Arts ink. The owl is by Gummiapan and I stamped it onto a inked piece, then added some Neocolor here and there for even more depth.

The clouds and the flowers as well as the sentiment are done with a Louise Nelson designed stamp by AALL & Create. And then finally, where are the bugs/insects? The tiny butterflies on the background are my contribution to the insect theme.

I really enjoyed playing with these strong colors on this card!

Good vibes only! – Studio Tekturek

Hello everybody and happy Tuesday! Today I´m again very excited to share my Studio Tekturek September project (and video) with you!! I really love how it turned out and totally adore the candy colours of the Strawberry Shake collection!!

This is the page I did! I had such a great time creating it. The colours might say summer, but I think they work so very well for many other themes and seasons too. Like everyday scrapbooking themes :)!

I´ve again recorded a video for you to watch. It shows the whole process from start to finish. I hope you enjoy watching it :).

Basically almost everything on this layout is from the Studio Tekturek Strawberry Shake collection, except for some embellishments and the Distress Inks, stamps, as well as the white paper.

I hope this layout inspires you to give Studio Tekturek a try. Follow their Facebook page for more details on where to buy their collections and see their Instagram site for more inspiration!

I will be back in a few days with another project that was inspired by this layout, so see you on Thursday again ;-)!!

Happy scrapping,

Christmas Card Wednesday, No 6

Hello there and welcome to another Christmas Card Wednesday. This week I am sharing two very easy to do cards. I saw a video by Jennifer McGuire recently and she did the ink pad and embossing folder technique on her video, so I decided to try it out.

I happen to be a fan of the Hero Art´s Shadow Inks and she used those to create the look on her video, so I gave it a go too.

Here is what I ended up making:

Now the the details:

I inked the embossing folder with the “Soft Pool” shawod ink tone, then placed a piece of white cardstock into the Tonic Studios embossing folder and ran the whole “sandwich” thru the die cutting machine. As a result I got a light blue hue background with dry embossed music notes which were not toned, but white (see Jennifer´s video here on her channel).

She used another ink tone on her video to ink the dry embossed images, but I decided to take an ink blending tool and dab some golden Nuvo Embellishment Mousse onto it (very lightly!) and then carefully ink the embossed areas with the mousse. I did a few sets like this while I was at it, so I can use the backgrounds on other projects later too.

Then I took one of the blending brush  & Nuvo Embellishment Mousse treated cardstock pieces and ran a Tonic German Sentiment thru my die cutting machine. This works really well with the mousse, you just need to let it dry completely before die cutting it.

I cut the same sentiment in bronze and gold colour and then adhered the sentiments onto the card bases.

One of the cards got decorated with tiny Nuvo Mirroball Stars (adhered with Nuvo Glaze) and the other one got some Harvest Moon Glitter Accent details on it, next to the sentiment. I really like how these cards turned out. And the look of the Nuvo Mousse coated die cut sentiment has me swooning. I am for sure going to use more “moussed” sentiments in the future too! Such a cool look!

That´s it for today. On Friday I´ll be sharing another STAMPlorations Mixed Media tutorial with you, so if you are interested, do stop by!

Happy crafting,
