Girly, candy toned stenciled tags – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone, Sanna here again today with another STAMPlorations mixed media tag set tutorial. This time I chose very girly and candy toned colors for my tags. These tags would work great for anything girly themed – as a summer party present, birthday party or even as a wedding party present tag.

I do not often use pink since I have a very boy dominated household at home, so it was really nice to create something girly for a change!! Here is what I did:

I had a piece of old, misted, book paper  lying on my table so I used that as a starting point for my first tag. I adhered the book paper onto the tag and then took some modeling paste and added yellow and red spray ink droplets on top of the paste.

Next I mixed the spray ink with the paste to create these cancy color pastes and after that I applied the paste onto the tag thru the Floral Flutes stencil. This might be one of my faves from the new release (among a few other ones ;-)…). I love the pattern it creates!! To keep the stencil from moving around while I apply the paste, I attached the stencil to my working surface with two strips of washi tape.

After that I took the residue paste and a  sheet of music note paper and applied the paste onto that piece of paper using the same stencil like previously.

Next I took several pages from an old latin book and placed them into a spraying box (just to protect my desk and walls..). Using a red and pink spray ink I first placed the stencil on top of the page and lightly sprayed the spray ink tone over the surface. Make sure to keep a nice distance to the stencil, otherwise the spray will spread underneath the stencil and bild „lakes“ of color and the pattern will not turn out very nice.

After spraying I removed the stencil and used my heat gun to dry the paper quickly. Then I carefully flipped the stencil upside down and placed the misted surface onto another book page and rolled over the surface with a brayer to make sure the residue ink would soak into the paper. Then I just removed the stencil and dried the paper with a heat gun.

I repeated these steps with a pink spray ink tone too. This is how the pages look like after misting.

I then took two flower punches (you could use die cut dies too!) and punched flowers from all of the book pages I had previously treated with the spray ink and a stencil. I wanted to create DIY layered flowers out of the stenciled pages.

For that I needed two big flowers – the first I left untouched, the second I cut open so that I could glue two petals together. That way it forms a „standing“ flower with a smaller diameter. I needed 4-5 smaller flowers to form the center of the flower. I just randomly bent them into half and then once more, forming a very random small flower. I now adhered the flowers together, starting from the biggest one and ending with the very tiny center pieces.

This is how the flowers look like when they are finished. I added some skeleton petals to go with the DIY flowers and some paper ribbon and a piece of lace  for decoration. Finally I added some Nuvo Drops in antique rose tone to add a little sparckle to the tags. I also wanted to add a stamped sentiment to each tag, so I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped a Fond Expressions 2 sentiment with black stamp ink three times onto the paper. Then i took a pink spray ink tone and added some color with my finger to create a toned background for the sentiments. Now all I needed to do was to fussy cut the pieces and attach them to the tag. Some ribbon to go with each tag and I was done. This is what the finished pieces look like:

I hope you enjoyed this little step-by-step tutorial and get inspired to create some stenciled, toned paste background tags yourself.  Don´t forget to join in on our monthly Mixed Media Challenge!!!

Hugs tag – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello there! And again I´d like to share another Tag Tuesday post with your shortly today. This is yet another tag I created for the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth to travel along from one show to another. I had so much fun creating these tags!!!

For this one, I´ve die cut the word hugs from a piece of felt. I love how it turned out. The felt is relatively thin, so the metal die actually did a great job cutting it. I also cut some Fitted Fishtails for the background and layered them on top of each other. I used patterned papers (older paperstock 🙂 ) from my stash for this purpose. There is a paper flower and a felt flower banner on the tag – also something from my older stash combined with the lovely Elizabeth Craft Designs product. The leaf is die cut from a Clear Double Sided Adhesive and then covered with Silk Microfine Glitter. Some faux stitching and a ribbon to finish the tag off. That´s pretty much it!

I just love making tags – they are great for destashing older goodies and trying out new ideas. And you can always attach them to gifts for friends and loved ones.

Happy crafting,

Happy Anniversary tag – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello there, everyone and happy Tuesday!! Yes, I have another Tag Tuesday project share prepared for today :). And no, I am probably not going to be able to make them for every Tuesday, but I try to post at least one or two a month. Here is a anniversary tag I made:

This one is again one of the projects that travel with the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth from show to show. I´ve used a stencil, a heart and a word die from the Elizabeth Craft Designs product line on this tag. And some Silk Microfine Glitter to spark the heart up a little bit. Other than that there is some white gel pen „faux stitching“ along the edges, a Happy Anniversary sticker sentiment, some white texture paste and wood veneer as well as ribbons from my stash. Tag are great for using up ribbons – from which I own  a few big boxes, so I can make plenty of tags, before I run out of ribbons…

I hope your week has started smoothly, have a great day!!!

Valentine tag

Hello everyone, it´s time for another Tag Tuesday :). This time I would like to share a Valentine´s day tag I made a while back. This again is one of the projects travelling with the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth.

I´ve used a grungy black and white paper on the Background and die cut the arrow, the word Valentine and the feathers from patterned paper. Then I added a layer of Glossy Accents on top of those elements to create some dimension.

Quickly before the Glossy Accents dried up, I poured some Silk Microfine Glitter on top of the feathers for additional shine and let that layer dry. A ribbon and some gems for decoration and this tag was done in no time. In the end I also added a faux stitching along the edges for more detail. That´s it!

Butterfly tag – Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello there lovelies!!!  Time for „Tag Tuesday„. That just came to my mind when preparing this post, but would be kinda fun to try and post a tag every Tuesday, wouldn´t it? However, I am afraid I will not be able to make one EVERY Tuesday, so these „Tag Tuesday“ posts will be somewhat random in the beginning. But it is a start :).

This tag is one of my projects that is travelling around with Elizabeth Craft Designs booth atm. I made a few cards and tags for shows and this is one of those. There is plenty of things on this tag I really like: Silk Microfine Glitter, Moda Scrap line die cut dies and spray inks by Tattered Angels. I love this combination – happy spray ink colours mixed together with shiny glitter and combined with lovely die cut butterflies. There is lots and lots of spring feel to this tag. Happy spring everyone!!!

Coffee themed tag – Coffee Lovers blog hop

Hi there everyone, I am up today with one last – although I could go on and on with these coffee themed projects, as I AM a coffee addict 😉 – project for the  Spring Coffee Lovers blog hop.

This time I ended up creating a coffee themed tag. Here it is:
And this is how I created it:

First I took a plain white tag and misted it with a Tattered Angels Cardboard toned Chalkboard spray ink. I sprayed the tag really wet so that the color would start „running“ on the tag surface and then quickly dried the surface with a heat gun. That way I got this really cool background look. Looks like spilled coffee :)..! And next I stamped the A Cup Of Roses clear stamp image onto a piece of beige patterned paper. The paper had platters on it, which makes it look like it has been stained by coffee/tea. Perfect for this theme then! I colored the image with markers again – using mainly Copic markers and adding white dots with a white gel pen. Finally I decorated the rose petals and the coffee cup with Rose Gold and Stardust Sticles to add some sparckle to the image. Next I took the Bloomin´ Spring Coffee Basket stamp set and used the sentiment stamps with black ink for the tag background. I repeatedly stamped the images next to each other mainly concentrating on getting the coffee name parts visible on the tag. Then all I did was to fussy cut the Cup of Roses image and adhere it onto the tag. I also stamped a sentiment onto a white paper and inked it with darkish yellow spray ink tone to match the tag colors and adhered the stamped sentiment underneath the rose image. Finally I added some ribbons to the tag and the project was done. I really like the colors on this tag. I am not that big a fan of brown but when I see it on a project, it gets me every time – maybe it´s because it reminds me of coffee 😉 ….

And now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog to read more about this hop! Have fun!!! And do join in too!!!

Stenciled bookmark – STAMPlorations

Hello there everyone! It´s my turn today to share another mixed media step-by-step tutorial with you. I am very much looking forward to spring already and I have noticed that it shows in my recent work – mainly can be noticed in my color choices. And this project is no exception – lots and lots of happy spring colours peeking here and there. Hope you like it!

Here is what I created:

Take a piece of white plain cardstock (or a big manila tag). Cut into a tag form if you are using a piece of cardstock. Then spray with pink spray ink and let dry or use a heat tool to dry the surface.

Place the Flutterby ARTplorations stencil onto the misted, dry surface and take a palette knife and some Viva Decor Glitter Paste and apply the paste thru the stencil onto the tag with the palette knife. Since the paste is very „grainy“, make sure you wash the stencil after you have used it.

Remove the stencil carefully and let the paste air dry before moving over to the next step.

Take book themed paper bits and scraps, fussy cut them into right size and start adhering them onto the tag as you like. Add punched/die cut elements like butterflies to go with the background theme and decorate with ribbon, washi tape, brads, music notes and whatever you find suitable for the theme.

Take the Trendy Birds 2 stamps and a piece of old book paper and partially ink the sentiment stamp (only the word wings) and press the inked word into the paper. Fussy cut the word.

Next take the Trendy Feathers 2 stamp set and again only partially ink the stamp sentiment with the word „mind“ on it and press onto a piece of old book paper. Then fussy cut along the edges.

After that take small alpha stickers and build the quote „Books give wings to the mind“ with the partially stamped words and the alpha stickers. I always adhere the alpha stickers with paper glue to make sure they really stick to the surface and don´t come off later. Sometimes the adhesive bedind the alphas is not that strong on it´s own. Finally, add some white ink splatters for additional interest on top of all layers. If you don´t prefer splatters, just skip this step. That´s it. Here are some detail photos of the finished tag.

Hope you get inspired to play with glitter paste and stencils!!! Have fun!!!

Stenciled paste and paint mixed media tags – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone, it´s my turn today to share a little mixed media tutorial with you. I decided to create a set of two tags using toned modeling paste with stencils. Here is how my finished tags look like:

And this is how I created the tags:

1. Take a white tag and place it into a misting box and using yellow spray ink add a layer of yellow mist. Let air dry or use a heat tool to dry the surface.

2. Mix modeling paste and magenta and tangerine acrylic paint with a palette knife together.

3. Place the „Ethnic Organic Two“ stencil on top of the tag and start applying the toned paste thru the stencil onto the tag. Start with orange and continue with the pink tone.

4. Carefully lift the stencil from the tag and take a second white tag and place the wet paint surfaced tag onto the tag, roll over the stencil with a brayer and remove the stencil. While the tag is drying, rinse the stencil with water.

5. Next add a layer of yellow spray ink onto the second tag and let dry.

6. Take the „Buttercups & Butterflies“ clear stamp set and two sheets of patterned paper (I chose matching colors).

7. Stamp with black ink flowers from the stamp set onto the paper and fussy cut the pieces.

8. Add a golden doilie onto each tag, cut off the residue. Adhere the flowers overlappingly with a paper glue.

9. Stamp suitable sentiments on old book paper with black ink and fussy cut those. Glue on place and outline with a black pen.

10. Embellish with half pearls, glitter glue and liquid pearls and paper flowers. Add ribbons in matching colors.

Here is also a start-to-finish video for you to watch, hope you like it!! Have fun creating with the cool ARTplorations stencils and STAMPlorations stamps!!!

I hope you get inspired to play with your stencils and stamps and create a fun project or two!!

Wonderful season – STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday

Hello lovelies, it is again time for some more stencil inspiration over at the STAMPlorations blog!!!

Also don´t forget to play along with the December mixed media challenge!!! The tag I created this time is again a Christmas tag. I´ve actually used every single one I´ve created during the past weeks already on Christmas pressies. I think I might still need a few more :).

Here is how I created this tag:  Sanna LIppert - christmas tag with stencils

I first placed the Bloom Factory stencil over a white tag, then took some Distress Inks (purple, green, blues) and started inking the tag thru the stencil. I started with the lightest colour on the top, then moved over to the darker ones towards the end of the tag. Finally I inked the edges with the purple ink. Since the ink underneath has different tones, the end result of the purple ink also varies from one part to another. This creates a really fun look!

Then I let the tag dry abit and mixed some white acrylic paint with water and dabbing a paint brush against another I created a white paint splatter layer on top. I let that layer dry properly before decorating the tag. I used the Fond Expressions 2 stamp and added a hand written word to the tag. The birdies have a glitter coat and the bauble is colored with the Distress Inks too and then decorated with some glitter glue.

Warm Winter Wishes tag set – STAMPlorations

Hello everyone! It´s my turn to share a mixed media tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog today again and today I am up with a set of three happy Christmas tags created with the Broken Glass ARTplorations stencil. This is what the set looks like:

Here is how I created the tags:

1. Fussy cut 3 tag bases from a piece of white cardstock.

2. Take two pieces of red patterned paper and place the stencil over the paper. Now trace the broken glass pattern with a pencil onto the paper. Remove the stencil and fussy cut the pieces with scissors for the first tag.

3. Next place the stencil over the tag and start glueing the fussy cut pieces onto the tag using the stencil as a glueing guide. Leave to dry, before cutting the residue pieces off along the edges of the tag.

4. For the second tag repeat step two, but instead of cutting the pieces off the paper with scissors, use a precision knife to cut along the pencil lines. Remove the pieces and put them aside. Not take the outline piece and glue it onto the tag. Leave to dry and cut off residue along the edges when dry.

5. For the last tag use the leftover pieces from tag two. Glue like on the first tag (see step three).

6. Place the stencil onto the tag, apply gitter paste thu it and let dry properly. Repeat on all three tags.

7. Next adhere the die cut sentiment onto a piece of red patterned paper and fussy cut along the die cut word. Adhere some turquoise lace onto the tags and adhere the die cut sentiment on top.

8. Decorate with stickers, cork, chipboard pieces and add glitter glue, white texture spray and a red ribbon on top for additional decoration.

Here is a start-to-finish video on how I created the tags – hope you like it!

And some detail shots of the finished tags:
