Stencil Sunday – STAMPlorations

Hi there lovelies and happy Saturday and happy STENCIL SUNDAY!!! Today´s post is all about stencils. I´ve created a set of ELEVEN cards using stencils and this post is here to serve as your inspiration to grab your stencils and have a good play with them!!! Also, there is a longer video available for you to watch too! My apologies for a very photo-heavy post, but since the video explaines the techniques, I will keep short with the writing this time 🙂 …

Let´s start – here you can see the finished cards and at the end of this post, be sure to watch the how-to video too:

I had a great time playing with the stencils and various media!! And in the process ended up creating a bunch of cards for my „card box“ to serve a purpose in the future. Good to have stocked up on my cards again :).

Like always, feel free to take advantage of my personal discount code at STAMPlorations online store. It´s good for 20% off your order if you add the following sentiment upon checkout: „STAMPGIRLSANNA„. Enjoy!!!

I hope you liked the inspiration!!! Have fun playing with your stencils!!!
See you soon,

#happybirthday Vol. 2

For starters let me apologize, if this card in any way will make you feel unwell. Yes, it is an anatomical heart on the top of the card. And yes, I have inked it to make it look as real as possible… the reason? This card was a custom order for a special kind of birthday (a medicine student).

And I really, really, really like the way it turned out. Boy, do I wish 3rd Eye never would have closed their doors – they had such special, versatile stamp designs. I loved their products! There are still some 3rd Eye products available at the Mixed Media Place store, just in case you are interested 😉 …

I´ve used blue spray ink to create the faux watercolor background. I think I am addicted to creating these backgrounds atm… Anyways, I had a great time creating this card. Hope the recipient will like it too…

Happy crafting,

#happybirthday

There is just something about these Tim Holtz birdies that immediately make me smile! I just could not pass those in the store.

Sharing a little crazy birdie card today with you:

I am not very good in coloring images, but I tried my best with this one :-). The background is created with spray inks and water – simple, fun and easy! I so love to create this kind of backgrounds!!! That little „smile“ cut out is from my dear scrappy friend Lizzy – love it! I got a big bag full of such words – deffo going to use every single one of those (might be, I will need a refill soon *winks*…).

Have a great day, lovelies!!!
Happy crafting!!!

You make me happy – MMCC November challenge reveal

Hello everyone and happy November!!! Gosh, where has the time gone??!! I have not even started on my Xmas cards yet and time is starting to run out..eeekk! BUT first things first. Let´s start by sharing the November Mixed Media Card Challenge with you:

This time the theme is FAMILY and as an optional element you are asked to use ARROWS. Now there are various possibilities to approach this theme. You could create a card for Thanksgiving, for example.

I have used a more general theme. It is, in a way, a thank you card, I think. There is always that special someone in the family who can brighten up ones day, no matter how bad it has been until then. Well, this is the kind of card I´d like to give that special person to tell them how much I appreciate them being there for me.

And this is how I created the card:

I first wiped some Distress Stain (pink & purple) onto a working surface and then pressed a piece of relatively thick watercolor paper over the ink/color. Then I let the paper dry properly.

Next I took a 3rd Eye (sadly, the store has closed their doors, but you will find a stamp or two still sold HERE…) arrow stamp and stamped and arrow pattern with black ink over the „faux watercolor“ area.

After that I took some colored texture spray (by Imagine Crafts) and added droplets of white and black over the stamped area. This needs to dry a while.

While the droplets were drying I stamped a sentiment (stamp by Kaisercraft) and fussy cut it. I also used a nice feather (a present by my lovely scrappy friend Lizzy <3) to go behind the sentiment.

Finally I adhered everything, outlined the card with a black pen and added some glitter glue onto the arrows for additional detail. Fun and easy!

So now is your turn – hope you like this months theme and join us for another fun MMCC challenge over HERE!

Invitation

Today I´d like to share with you a graduation party invitation card. The graduate had wishes about the colors and the style. It should reflect her personality and have lots of pink, silver and glitter on it. So I first created a few samples and this was the one they went for in the end.

I first created the background with a „faux watercolor“ technique on relatively thick watercolor paper. Here is a process photo. I love, love, love to create this kind of backgrounds! They are so much fun to do!

Next I added some silver texture paste (Imagine Crafts) thru a Tim Holtz stencil.

Next I added droplets of my all time favorite black Glimmer Glaze (by Tattered Angels) here and there. After that I just needed to use my Silhouette to cut the sentiments from black cardstock and add some glitter cardstock flowers here and there (punched with a Martha Stewart hydrangea craft punch). Finally I just outlined the watercolor paper pieces with black ink for additional contrast and then glued them on white card bases.

Here is a close-up of the finished card:

and one more shot of the full card:

I think it was a little bit over 80 cards in the end, when I finished creating. I kept only one for myself as a sample and sent all the others on their way to their new owner. Both the mother and her daughter had been very thrilled about the cards which is the best kind of thank you I can imagine getting! I must say I enjoyed this commission work very much and it made me feel very special that someone wanted to have handmade invitation cards for her graduation party created by me!

Happy crafting,
