XOXO AJ page

Hello and happy Saturday! This page started off with Dina Wakley gloss sprays and a stencil. I was just randomly spraying various colours onto the page and using a circle stencil by Carabelle Studio. Then the page got really crazy colorful and I had to do something.

So I drew a face and using black paint, painted the areas other than the face black. I really like doing this. That brings the page together and creates fun color pops to the black contrast.

And then I used some bits and bobs, strongly inspired by Deb Weiers work which I really, really admire. She makes awesome art! When feeling totally lost with my mojo, I tried bringing it back to life by trying out things others do so very well.

Creating this page made me smile again and felt better, than in a long time. But still no spark.. I´m hoping my mojo returns. I so want it to return. Maybe I´ve just run empty of art journaling mojo for now? Maybe I should try out another format, make ATC´s or cards or such? Maybe that is the problem. Next week I might try out doing something totally different for a change.

Hope your weekend is lovely!

Make today great – AJ page

Hello everyone and happy Friday!! How have you been spending the many hours in social isolation? I have been watching the Facebook lives by Dina Wakley and Tim Holtz on regular basis, Dina´s almost daily. It has been so very inspiring.

I cannot draw the way artists draw. Like real looking faces or landscapes that look like photos. That kind of things, you know. I don´t have the patience and also I am not interested in such drawings that much. I am more the abstract type. That is why Dina´s FB demos hit home so hard.

So I have some new stuff home, like her Scriblle Sticks and the Stabilo pen. Whoa! What a game changer! And so much fun!!! And yesterday evening I just started scribbling with the sticks in my journal and ended up with a face. Here it is:

And you know what? It´s not perfect and the proportions are not perfect either and she looks like she hasn´t washed her hair in weeks. LOL! But she is what I created that evening and I am so happy with it. I loved the Scribble Sticks and the Stabilo pen. So, so much fun!

I love the way Dina just creates, freely and completely in peace with herself. So if a bottle has no cap on and it falls over? No drama! She just goes with it and enjoys the creative process. I find that so very refreshing in a world where you are not supposed to make mistakes and an eyebrow is often lifted if you are not conform with what is expected of you.

I have been a bit lost with my creating the past days. Everything just felt so dull. I think this isolation thing is starting to get to me (day 26 today). At least there is sunshine! And tulips! And crafting!

See, I haven´t been sleeping very well lately, due to muscle ache in my operated foot. That is definitely not doing any good to me, the sleep deprivation. Hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Happy crafting and let´s stay healthy!

Go see do Art Journal Page

Hi there and happy Wednesday!!! Today I´m again dropping by my blog to share another art journal page with you all. This time the theme is about travelling. I have a huge bucket list to work thru and I love to go to new places which I sadly cannot do this year due to my surgery, but soon, soon hopefully travel plans can be added to my calendar :).

Thus the travel themed page today:

I´ve added lots of bits and bobs to this page. There is some paint on the background, then I added some gelli plate transfer tissue pieces (see the lady´s face in the middle?). That piece is one of those.

I fussy cut and added a world map in pieces onto the page, then did some stamping, journaling and adhered random fussy cut pieces here and there.

I had a great time creating this page and dreaming about future travels :). Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Happy crafting,

Soar – STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday

Hello lovelies!! It is again time for STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday and MAY MIXED MEDIA CHALLENGE REVEAL. Today I´d like to share a art journal page with you.

Here is what I created:

The page had some leftover gesso wiped onto it already. I then went and sprayed a layer of blue spray ink onto it and let that dry properly. It created a really nice background to start with. I then started by adding Dina Wakley heavy body Magenta toned paint with a palette knife thru a stencil onto the backgrond. For stencil details see the end of this post. I let the paint air dry before moving to the next step.

Next I added a stamp image (Dina Wakley stamp) onto the left side of the stenciled paint and took a bird stencil and started applying waterproof ink with a foam piece thru the stencil onto the upper part of the page. I used water proof media, so that I could add more layers later on top.

Then I went and added some stamped words (STAMPlorations clear stamp set) and finally added some raindrops on top of it all. The paint I used is again Dina Wakley heavy body paint Tangerine and the stencil is by STAMPlorations. In the end I inked the edges of the page with black ink and added some white Liquitex Ink! droplets on top of it all. I think the bird stencil and stamp is one of my all time favorite sets from the STAMPlorations store. I use them really often :).

Now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog to see more inspirational projects designed by my team colleagues. And do join in with us!!! The rules are easy to follow and there are nice prizes to be won!! Let´s stay creative,

Mixed media tags

Hello there! I am slowly, but surely, developing a serious addiction towards tag creating :-)… I think they are fabulous projects to make! You can add them later to be a part of another project or put them on a present AND they are smallish thus relatively fast to create. So if inspiration hits and you are just not up to creating a scrapbook layout or working on a canvas, tags are a nice size to go to. These two I created just for fun to participate on a FB online crop.

I´ve used plain white tags as background and first applied droplets and layers of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist onto the tag. I let those dry properly before moving to the next step. Next I added Distress Paint circles onto the first tag by pressing the dabber directly into the tag. After that I took a Dina Wakley stamp and stamped the “text” onto the background, then added some details with Posca paint pens. Finally I added bits of cardstock residues from my previous projects and stapled them down. Then I only needed to add a little stamping and the ribbon.

These were so much fun to make! I really like the colors on these tags too :). What have you been creating lately? I know I should be thinking about Xmas cards, but I am still not quite in the spirit for that :)…

Happy crafting,
