Do Good AJ page

Hello there and happy Monday evening! I´m stopping by to share an art journal page with you. This one is just random play, while trying to get my mind free of things bothering me.

How´s your Monday getting along? I feel drained after work today – already can hear my bed calling my name *LOL*. I think it´s partly because of the back paint I´ve been experiencing lately. Still some side-effects emerging from time to time, post surgery, I think.

Art usually helps – but I feel too tired for that even. What is your recipy for overcoming total tiredness? Except for the obvious – sleep? When I´m this drained, it usually affects my mood in a bad way and I really hate, when that happens. So if you have any tips for survival, I´m all ears!!!

Like mentioned before, this page is just a result of random play. I misted a background with spray ink, putting fussy cut circles here and there. Then I outlined the circles with black paint, waited for that layer to dry and added Distress Crayons. I also removed some of the crayon with a baby wipe (thru a stencil). That way the stencil pattern appears. The stamping is a planner stamp set by Elizabeth Craft Designs and other than that I used a STAMPlorations stencil to create the crackle paste images. For finishing touches I added a quote.

OK, that´s all from me today. I´m feeling bedtime coming earlier today 🙂

This week can only get better from here on 😀 – wishing you a lovely, creative week!!!

Calm AJ Page

Hello everyone and happy Friday!! I have been playing in my Dylusions Creative Journal again and I must say I love this bigger size.

For this page I started with various spray inks on the background. The leaf pattern is misted thru a leftover die cut paper sheet. I also pressed various leftover spray inks from stencils onto the background. Thus the random color „splots“. Next I added some old rub-ons onto the background. I´ve had them for years and they still worked!

Then I drew the face. This time I only added some colour to the eyes and the lips. On top of it all I painted some patterns with Distress Crayons.

On top of that I added some red spray ink thru one of my own stencil designs. Then I wrote the quote and fussy cut some Dina Wakley washi tape circles and adhered them to the page. For finishing touches I added a little stamping.

I had a fun time creating this face. It´s again a little bit different that then previous ones. Still dabbling there to find the way to draw them the way I enjoy the most.

Wishing you a creative weekend!

Face painting time

Hello everyone and happy Sunday!! I hope the weather at your end is better than at mine? It´s been cold, rainy and grey the past days. Which is good, creativity wise (more time in studio), but it is starting to dim my mood. I need sunshine! I miss sunshine. It has been the only thing that has carried me thru this strange period of time. Spring, flowers and sunshine. And now… I can´t cope with this type of weather. It´s like this the whole winter, who needs this greyness all year long? Not me for sure!

Anyways, today I´m sharing yet another face painting with you guys. Here it is:

I changed my art journal format to a big one for a change! This is by Dylusions and it´s the large creative journal. I am loving the paper, by the way! And the size! Great for faces :).

I am trying to develop in painting faces. Not realistic ones – mine are more imaginary. I´m experimenting with different ways of painting them, but have been strongly inspired and couraged thru Dina Wakley´s Facebook lives. She has this very relaxed approach towards her art journals and watching her has helped me overcome my fears of doing something wrong. Because, if you never paint, experiment and try, you will never develop. So I´ve tossed all my fears in a bin and am going with what appears on paper.

And I do LIKE how she turned out. I wasn´t going for a „face face“ if you know what I mean, and suddenly she was there. I like her eyes and the nose. Definitely development happening there :). I painted with Dina Wakley paints again. Loving them, by the way. Going to need more colors! And might want to get another of these journals. I think Art from the Heart is going to be hearing from me very soon ;-).

You can find all the products I´ve used on this page, listed in the supply list at the end of this post – just in case you are interested. And I did dry paint brush, by the way. And didn´t clean in between. Veery freeing painting that way. I wish I could just do this all day, every day! I find such great pleasure in it at the moment.

Wishing you a lovely Sunday! Keep on creating,

Time – Art journal page

Hello everyone and happy Saturday! Today I´m again sharing a page from my art journal with you. This one is very dear to me, as there is a full page of journaling hidden underneath layers of paint.

I´ve played in a bigger journal this time (one from Dylusions) and had a blast creating with Dina Wakley´s paints.

I started by writing my thoughts down onto the background and then brayering some acrylic paint over the text with a brayer. Then I did some scratching with a prick tool to add texture here and there and after that I painted the face.

For finishing touches I added some doodling and the word time onto the lady´s face with Posca pens. Also some crayon platters and some stenciling with spray inks was added for finishing touches.

She looks a little bit sad and tired. I really captured current my mood into this face and that makes me happy. Because I felt lost, sad and tired at the moment I created her. So it was a perfect outlet for me!

Wishing you a lovely weekend – hope you find some time to create yourself too!

STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge reveal

Hello everyone and welcome to January 2020!!! Today it´s again time to share this months STAMPlorations challenges and today it´s Stencil Challenge Reveal time.

I again created an art journal page for this months challenge reveal – here it is:

For this page I´ve first added all kinds of color residues onto the background, then added stencil images with STAMPlorations Festive Boomdala stencil as well as some of my stencil line stencils, like the Lupinus one. Then I drew an abstract face onto the page, painted the background area black and added bits and bobs, like Japanese magazine bits here and there. Also, there are paint details as well as tissue paper pieces here and there. The sentiment on the black background just came to my mind when I was looking at the facial impression of my abstract girl image. So I added it to the page.

That´s my take for this months challenge. Remember, you can create anything, as long as you have used a stencil! Also remember the STAMPlorations reveal post on your blog and feature the challenge image on your blog to be eligible for the price. That´s it! Hope you play along with us!!! There are also prizes to be won – read more about the challenge HERE!!!

Happy stenciling,
xxx, Sanna
