Altered wood block home decor piece

Hello everybody, we have had a little summer break from the regular STAMPlorations posts and they will be returning very soon, but it is not quite time for that yet. Therefore, today I´d like to share a „just for fun“ STAMPlorations tutorial with you.

I´ve created a home decor piece out of a wood block my dear husband cut for me into a shape of a house. I wanted to use motivational stamp sentiments as a focal point on this piece and built the layers and decoration around it. Here is what I did:

I also created a fast forward video with all the steps until to the finished block for you to watch. Hope you enjoy and get inspired to play a little with your stamps, stencils and media! Remember, there is no right or wrong, no right colors or wrong colors – just use what you have and like! Remember to have fun :).

Just in case you are interested on some products I´ve used on this project, I´ll add the LinkDeli links which will directly take you to each product (some products may not be available anymore, as they are from my older stash, but I will replace those with similar ones).

As always, if you would like to purchase any of the STAMPlorations products used on this project, feel free to grab my personal 20% off discount code (STAMPGIRLSANNA) and use it upon checkout at their store. It is valid for both regular prized as well as reduced product!

Happy creating & let´s stay creative!

Typografia Motivate STAMPlorations blog hop

Hello everyone! It´s again blog hop time at STAMPlorations blog, revealing a brand new stamp release called „Typografia Motivate“!! And let me tell you these stamps are great – I love the look of them and they are so very versatile and fit so many kinds of projects from ATCs to art journals to cards. I created two sets of cards & tags for this hop with two stamps from this release. Here they are:

I love this typografia sentiments – a good reminder to try and do the things you think you can´t! That is the only way to grow…

To give you an idea on how I made these cards, I´ve recorded a little step-by-step video for you to watch. The idea is very, very simple and these cards are very fast and easy to create, so if you happen to need a bigger amount of similar cards, this might be an idea to consider. Enjoy!

And then I went and created two tags and a card in a totally different color sheme than the previous ones. These practically scream sunshine feeling :-).

I´ve used the „Great Love“ Typografia Motivate stamp on all 3 projects. And I did again play with Distress Oxides too. I really like the chalky effect on the heart background tag, created with the oxides. The heart stencil I´ve used is by ARTplorations, by the way (as are all the stencils also used on my darker card set too).

I wanted to use the stamp images as the focal point on all three projects, so I kept the rest very simple by adding happy colors and small  details like flowers, burlap and ribbons. I really love the soft look of the oxides on the background plus the various fonts used on this particular stamp. This is such a great release – I have a feeling the stamps will be very popular at the store and sell out very fast (adding note to self to buy some before they are sold out!).

Speaking of shopping, I would like to remind you to take advantage of my personal 20% off code at the STAMPlorations store. Add the code „STAMPGIRLSANNA“ to the gift card code section upon checkout and get 20% off your order (good for both sale and regular price items!!).

Now make sure you follow the hop rules (noted here on the STAMPlorations blog main hop post) to be in for the win of 3 Typografia Motivate stamps of your choice!!! How´s that for an awesome win?!! The winner will be randomly drawn from all comments left on the STAMPlorations and DT member blogs joining this hop. The winners are announced on the 29th of August at the STAMPlorations blog.

Have fun hopping and shopping!!! Stay inspired :-),

Purple toned Mother´s Day card

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying your Saturday. There´s one post that totally slipped my mind and I forgot to post it here. Mother´s Day is a while back already, but I´m still going to share this little card step-by-step idea here today with you.

I´ve used quite a big selection of Tattered Angels spray inks on this card. Mainly to color the Krumspring Stamps heart stamp with them (all tone in tone, except for the bright blue tone). For even more spray ink tones check the Canvas Corp Brands store 😉 …

This is a very monochromatic card and I could not resist adding a layer of iridescent creative medium on top of the misted background. This gives the background nice dimention and adds a beautiful shine to the card when you tilt it.

Then a selection of pink/purple stay ink tones to color the heart adds a really nice centerpiece for the card. I still love using wood veneer on my projects. I am sadly slowly but surely running out of the Studio Calico figures – they are/were really great and work on so many projects. Too bad I didn´t buy more back in the day ;-).

I´ll leave you with a short start-to-finish video to go with the card – hope you enjoy it!

Wishing you a lovely, relaxing weekend!!!

Happy crafting,

Make Art Discoveries – STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday

It is Sunday which means that it is time for another STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday! For this weeks inspirational post I created a mixed media home decor piece – a wall hanging of a kind. I call it „Make Art Discoveries“.

It all started with the mini hanger which is by Jillibean Soup. It comes in a set of two and measures ca. 5,5 inch in width. I started with a piece of kraft cardstock that I sprayed darker with Tattered Angels Baseboard tone Cardboard. Next I cut a piece of eco dyed fabric (learned how to do it from my lovely friend Tina last summer) into a suitable size. I added some hand stitching around the edges. Now I am not very talented with yarn and needles, but it doesn´t matter if the result is not that perfect. Next I placed the ARTplorations „Hidden Hearts“ stencil onto the fabric and added green iridescent creative medium onto the fabric thru the stencil. The media is by Imagine Crafts and I love it!!! Since it is iridescent on a light background you will not see it in the photos that well..therefore I took this against the light photo above. Here you can really see the shimmery background pattern quite nicely. After the paste was dry, I glued the fabric onto the background with a strong fabric glue (Beacon Adhesives). Then I started adding bits and pieces.

The butterfly on top is a flea market find. It is a cookie/pastry form which I filled with a turquoise burlap piece, then applied some turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter on top and finished off with a layer of Judi Kins Diamond Glaze. I let it dry a little before adding the word (thank you, Lizzy, love these words you made!!), the red yarn and the half pearl on top. Finally I finished it off with some green glass glitter. It needed to dry out properly before I could use it, so I left it to rest for days.

The next piece is a found object – a regular stone. I just added the work „make“ (from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Big Chat sticker sheet). And decorated the edges with Gold Stickles.

The wooden scrabble letters are by Papermania Bare Basics. I adhered those onto the chipboard piece with gel medium (by Faber-Castell). The chipboard piece is misted with grey spray ink (I used the same Hidden Hearts stencil to create the pattern) and then decoreated with Gold Stickles.

On the very bottom there are two wax seals I made and on top of those I added a Tim Holtz Idea-ology word band „Discoveries“. The orange paint is the Heavy Body Tangerine paint by Dina Wakley. I attached the word band with a piece of twine. All pieces and the eco dyed lace piece underneath are adhered on their places with gel medium. Once it is dry the pieces will not come off :). I also added a few stamples here and there for additional grungy detail and to make sure the fabric piece can carry the weight of the decorational elements.

Finally I added a few white paint droplets here and there very freely to finish this piece. It will decorate my art corner in our house later. I sure had a fun time creating this stenciled mixed media piece. I hope you will get inspired to create something fun for your home with stencils too!!! And don´t forget to check out the current Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations blog. There is still enough time to join in with us!!!

Happy creating!!

Altered writing block cover – STAMPLORATIONS

Hello lovelies, it is again time for September´s Mixed Media Challenge & Stencil Sunday at STAMPlorations. My project for this months challenge reveal is an altered writing block cover:

Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverI´ve prepared a little start-to-finish photo tutorial for this one:

Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverI started with a notebook I bought some time back at IKEA :). It has lots of sheets for writing down ideas, sketches or anything else creative. However, I wanted to alter the cover to look more like „me“ :). Here is what I did:

Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverI first applied a layer of white gesso to cover the speech bubble abit and prepare the surface for paints and spray inks. Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverNext I applied some light pink and sunny yellow Glimmer Mist onto the surface (by Tattered Angels). Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverAfter that I glued some random old book paper strips onto the background and stamped the „be free“ sentiment onto the right lower corner. Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverNext I mixed some texture paste and Inchworm Chalkboard Glimmer Mist together and applied a random layer onto the background thru the „X Marks the Spot“ ARTplorations stencil. Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverWhen the first layer was dry I applied some silver texture medium thru the „Bubbles“ ARTplorations stencil onto the background and stamped some flying birds from the STAMPlorations „Trendy Birds 2“ stamp set with black ink. I love this stamp set!!!Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverFinally I stamped with the „Create“ STAMPlorations stamp set and black ink onto a old book sheet and fussy cut and glued the pieces on their places. Next I added all kinds of bits and pieces (die cutting leftover pieces, ink splatters, old paper flowers from my stash, ink splatters, rhinestones etc.) onto the cover page until I was happy with the result. This is how the finished piece looks like: Sanna Lippert - altered, stenciled and stamped writing block coverNow it feels so much more like me :). NOW IT´S YOUR TURN, click on the image underneath to jump over to the STAMPlorations blog to take a look at the other projects my team colleagues created AND join in on the challenge (just note that you need to create a mixed media piece by using at least one stencil and anything goes, EXCEPT CARDS!!! The linky closes at the end of the month and there are prizes to be won 🙂 !!
Have fun!!!!

I am also submitting this notebook to the Craft Stamper September Take It Make It Anything Goes challenge!

See the world – MMCC May reveal

Hello there lovelies! It´s again time to share this months Mixed Media Card Challenge blog´s May challenge. The challenge theme is REFLECTIONS and you can use WATER as optional element.

This is how I interpreted the theme:

Sanna LippertI created a sunset scenery. I first used Brusho with watercolor paper to create the water surface, then added yellow and white ink to create the reflection of the sun. For the sky I used Distress Inks (blue, pink and orange) and inked first the sun and then the blue sky. Next I placed a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil over the sky and applied some orange and pink ink thru the stencil onto the sky. The clouds are created with water and the birds are hand drawn.

Here are some detail shots:  Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Finally I wanted to add some interest to the water surface, so I rubbed Tim Holtz Rubbings onto it. The sun also has a layer of Gold Metallic creative Medium by Imagine Crafts on it for additional interest and dimensionality. The stencil here is also by The Crafter´s Workshop. The mountains on the horizon are fussy cut from Through the Lens – Stone patterned paper set by Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Sanna LippertI hope you find the time to join in on this challenge with us!!! Looking forward to seeing your creations!!!

Smile – MMCC April challenge, Vol. 2

Hello again lovelies!!! Have you seen the current Mixed Media Card Challenge blog´s challenge??? It´s a fun one with a SUNSHINE theme! As additional element you are asked to use BRICKS.

I thought I´d make a second inspirational card this month. Here it is:

Sanna LippertI wanted to concentrate on the brick elements on my second card. There is still sunshine on this card too, this time not that bright, as on my first card though :).

Sanna LippertI again used an old book sheet as a starting point. Added some spray inks (Tattered Angels) onto it, then added a golden, stenciled texture paste sun and some inked, stenciled clouds and hand drawn birds. The brick wall (cut with this Elizabeth Craft Designs die cut die) is tilted and looks like a townscape. I´ve used the Through The Lens – Metal papers from Els van de Burgt Studio for building the townscape. A sentiment stamp adds a nice detail.

I hope you find some time to play along with us this month!!!
See you at MMCC,

ATC card, Vol. 4 – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello lovelies! This is my last ATC for the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew ATC swap. This one is a 1 of 1 set :-). I created it on white cardstock base.

Sanna LippertThen I added a smaller piece of white cardstock on top, but decorated it first. There is first of all some 7gypsies stamping (this stamp) with VersaMark and Ranger Silver embossing powder on the background. Then I´ve misted the piece with pink and green Glimmer Mist. Next I stamped some Finnabair butterflies onto the background with a black ink. Then I added some silver Creative Medium thru a stencil onto the background (yes, again a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil I used). After that I used a stapler to attach a piece of twine. Next to that there is some corrugated kraft cardstock which I inked a bit.

Sanna LippertAfter that I added black and white ink splatters, a stamped and colored sentiment and butterfly as well as a wood veneer arrow, finished of with a layer of Stickles. Sanna LippertI hope the recipient liked her ATC. It is a special one as there is only one single piece of this one ever made :). So now I am thru with the ones I created. Here are the ones I received (so far):

Sanna LippertThe upper one from left top corner until right lower corner: Nancy Wethington, Zinia Amoiridou, Nancy Hawes, Marie Heiderscheit & Susan Salyer.

Sanna LippertThe second set from top left corner until the low right corner: Nadine Carlier, Barb Housner, Jorunn Langås Andreassen, Tamara Dinius, Tracy Sagriff. I adore every single one!!! <3

Sanna LIppertAnd this is how I store my ATC´s at the moment. The pockets are the prefect size for ATCs. There is still space for the two missing ones, and two more. I´ve also added a few other ones there I received along the past years. There are from my scrappy friends Riikka Kovasin, Tina Walker and Kim from Australia. Sanna Lippert  I like the fact that I could add this ATC sheet into a photo album or PL album. BUT then on the other hand I am thinking of getting two shadow frames for these and hanging them all on my studio wall. Have not quite figured out which way I will go. I have quite a few pieces of lovely art from my crafty friends, so these would make a really nice addition to those. I will keep you posted when I decide!!!

*edit* here is a photo of the last two ATC cards I received from Peggy Lee Baker (top left) & Sheila Rumney (top right)!

Sanna Lippert*edit* …and I also received this lovely ATC from Canvas Corp Brands office! Love it!!!

ps. thank you to every single one who sent me their lovely work! I really, truly cherish each and every one of them <3

ATC set Vol. 3 – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello lovelies! In my two previous posts I´ve shared my first and second set of 4 ATC cards. These were all part of the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew ATC swap. I didn´t want to create 12 similar ATC´s, so I made sets of 4. Now afterwords, when I think of it, I should have made sets of 5, that way there would have been one of each for me, but too late now :-). This is my starting point for the third set:

Sanna LippertI again used the ATC kraft card bases for these four ATC cards. Then I chose a totally gorgeous piece of paper from the 7gypsies Ordre Du Jour collection (love that paper pack!!!) to go with the kraft bases. Isn´t this particular paper just amazing??!!! Love it!

I first started by adhering the in size cut patterned paper pieces onto the kraft base. Then i applied some Imagine Crafts pearlescent Creative Medium onto the patterned paper thru a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil.

Sanna LippertNext some random Glimmer Mist splatters – tone: Rosey. I also fussy cut some sentiments from the paper and added them on top of the paper. Then I created clusters with sewing yarn, misted & punched little stars and some transparent resin buttons (those I made a while back as an experiment with my Mold Muse molds). Finalyl some outlining with a black pen and white ink splatter details here and there.

Sanna LippertThis is how the finished 4 ATC´s look like:

Sanna Lippertand some detail photos:

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertHere are all 3 sets I sent on their way to my swap partners. I really do hope they liked their ATC´s! I have enjoyed receiving REAL MAIL from all around the world!! This has been such a fun thing to do. I sure hope there will be a possibility to do another swap of some kind soon. Sanna LippertThere is still one more ATC I need to share, so if you are still interested, come back soon to take a look at that one :). Oh, and in that post I might also share the ones I received, so far there are 10 out of 12 that arrived, so I still need to wait for the last ones to arrive, before sharing them (and how I store them) with you.

Happy crafting,
