December Mixed Media challenge – STAMPlorations

Hi there everyone, it´s time to share the STAMPlorations December Mixed Media Challenge with you today! For today´s challenge reveal I´ve created a set of Artist Trading Cards.

Here is my set of ATC´s:

I´ve first applied a layer of DIY glitter paste onto the bigger paper (on the background) thru a stencil. Then I misted that piece with brown Glimmer Mist spray. I did the same with the top paper pieces (first misting with pink Glimmer Mist and then applying the DIY glitter paste thru the stencil onto the paper. After the paste was dry, I adhered the pieces together, added some residue tinted texture paste treated music notes paper on top.

Next I decorated the ATC´s with 7gypsies Architextures decor pieces, some paper flowers, printed masking tape and Glimmer Glaze.

On the second card I´ve used a velvet ruffle flower instead of paper flowers, everything else is the same as on the previous ATC. By now you should be familiar with the rules, on how to play along, but if not, be sure to check them out here! Playing along is really easy and the rules are very simple to follow, so do take some time to play along with us also this month!! There are fab prizes to be won, too! Read more here on the STAMPlorations blog. Even though it´s December and we all tend to be very busy this time of the year, maybe you will still find some time to play and join this challenge. It´s a fun one – hope to see you at STAMPlorations!!!

Tagplorations October Challenge – Fall

Hello there everybody, today marks the start of a new challenge at STAMPlorations blog, called TAGplorations. It is a tag theme related challenge, posting monthly challenges on the first Tuesday of the month (and a mid-month reminder/inspirational post on the 3rd Tuesday of the month). The challenges are all about tags and there will be a monthly theme around which you will be asked to create your tags. This months theme is FALL 🙂.

Here is my take on the theme:
You will also be given a color scheme or something else optional to work along the main theme. This time the optional theme is color. So use the colors RED, GOLD and ORANGE on your tag as an additional/optional twist to the fall theme.
For more details on the challenges, rules etc. – hop over to the TAGplorations blog (here). Here are some details: players can link up as many projects as they want (BUT ONLY 1 project per blog post), projects can be anything but it must feature a TAG, STAMPlorations product is not required, prizes are $10 Gift Card for the winner; $5 Gift Card each to the 2 top picks and If there are more than 50 entries -> 1 player will be randomly drawn to win her choice of CUTplorations dies worth up to $20. So what are you waiting for!! Join in with us for a fun tag challenge :)!!!

I did a inked background, added some stenciled elements on top, then some stamping (the sentiment) and finally added a Distress Oxide inked piece of paper that I had stamped fall leaves onto and fussy cut them on top of my tag. The leaves have golden details (heat embossed) on them. Finally some golden droplets here and there to finish off the tag. Annndddd… I´ve created a short start-to-finish video for you to watch as a bonus for the first TAGplorations challenge reveal. Hope you like it!!!

Happy crafting,

How far – the MMCC August challenge reveal

Hi there, time to share the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog´s AUGUST challenge with you today! This month you need to create a card around the theme: RAINBOW. As an optional element you are asked to use: DRAGONFLIES.

Here is my take: Sanna LippertI used a white cardstock base and added Patina Glimmer Mist with a paint brush onto the background (faux watercolour). Next I used the Rainbow Sky die cut die (by Elizabeth Craft Designs) to cut the rainbow, the clouds and the sun. I misted each of the rays with different Glimmer Mist tones (in rainbow colours). The clouds and the sun are treated with Silk Microfine Glitter (warm diamond & yellow).

Next I hand drew some dragonflies onto the background, added faux stitching on the outlines of the card and stamped and fussy cut the sentiment (stamp by Dylusions).

Sanna LippertAnd now it is your turn again. I do hope you find the time to join this fun challenge!!!

See you at MMCC,

You are funky – MMCC #23

Hello there lovelies and happy Sunday!!! I stumbled upon the current The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog´s April challenge and I immediately wanted to create a card for it. I´m joining for the very first time (I think) OR my last submission goes back such a long time, that I cannot even remember… a shame actually. But what can you do – my daily life keeps me very busy and I hardly ever find the time to join in on challenges. Well, at least until today/for now. I´m joining in on the  mixedmediamc #23 challenge with the following card:

Here is how I interpreted the challenge:

Sanna LippertI first cut a piece of watercolor paper that I had colored with Brusho. Next I stamped with a Birgit Koopsen star stamp set onto the background. After that I added strips of clear double sided adhesive tape (treated with microfine glitter) onto the background, then some die cut elements and alphas. I hand draw tiny dots, stars and triangles onto to background. Next I stamped the eyeglasses onto the brushoed paper, added faux stitching with a thick pen, applied silver texture paste thru a stencil, adhered the die cut circle and colored it with acrylic pen, added the puffy silver dots, the DIY resin flowers, the die cut sentiment and word stickers. The Bursho toned piece is adhered with 3D foam which makes it dimensional. Also the roses are very much dimensional as is the paste. So I hope this card fills the requirements :).

Here is a detail shot for a second look (here you can better see the dimensionality):

Sanna LippertI enjoy using strong colors so much at the moment – they immediately make me feel better and smile!!!

Thanks for dropping by <3 !

Hello – October Mixed Media Card Challenge reveal

Hello there, everyone! Another new month, another new challenge!!! This month we want to see cards created with BLACK & ORANGE and you can use GLITTER as an additional element!

I could have easily created a Halloween themed card – after all it is an October challenge!!! Or even a Thanksgiving card would have been suitable for these colors, but I went with a more general theme. Here is what my card looks like:

I´ve used orange ink to ink the background, then added a layer of glitter paste and black acrylic paint thru a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil over the inked area. After that I cut the piece into a right size and when the glitter paste was dry, I outlined the glitter petals with a black pen. That way they stand out more from the background.

Next I added some black Glimmer Glaze droplets and glued the background onto a white card base. After that I added a ribbon and some flowers and stamped and fussy cut the sentiment.

So nothing really THAT fancy going on here, but nevertheless lots of various media and techniques going on. And still easy to do.

I hope you will find some time to join in with us at the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog!!! I´d love to see what you come up with!! For further details, read the RULES over at the MMCC blog (right side bar) and while you are there, get inspired by the fabulous cards my team colleagues have created!!!!

Happy October and happy crafting!!!

Happy – August Mixed Media Card Challenge reveal

Hello everyone and happy August!!! Since it is the beginning of a new month again, it is also time to share the new Mixed Media August Card Challenge with you. Here it is:

This month´s challenge is to use BUTTERFLIES. Now we all like to use butterflies, don´t we, so I am guessing that there will be quite a few submissions this month. And the optional element this time is gold. So add a hint of gold to your project to make it extra classy and special!!!

And here is a little step-by-step on how I created the card:

I first rubbed three tones of Gelatos onto a white piece of paper, then added some water and by using my finger, mixed the water with the Gelato treated area together. It created a watercolor kind of effect on the background.

Next I applied some purple ink splatters from a spray ink bottle to give the background a more interesting look.

After that I used the The Crafter´s Workshop stencil to apply some metallic texture paste (gold) over the Gelato treated areas. I let the paste air dry and while it was drying, I started with my butterflies.

I first stamped the butterfly image onto the same piece of white paper with VersaMark embossing powder, then poured some Sticky Embossing Powder (by Ranger) over the stamped image, heat set it and quickly added a piece of gold foil over the embossed area and rubbed the foil with my finger onto the surface. That created a lovely golden butterfly which I then „colored“ with green and yellow spray ink tones. After the ink was dry, I fussy cut the butterflies and glued them down onto the card over a piece of golden yarn. I also added some blue faux stitching around the edges and finally dabbed some black Glimmer Glaze here and there for additional detail. The sentiment is stamped with a black ink.

I used blue cardstock as my card base to add more contrast between the card background and the card base.

Hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial and will find time to join in with us at the August challenge!!! Don´t forget to stop by the MMCC blog every once and a while for more card inspiration for this month´s challenge! See you at MMCC, lovelies!!

Happy creating,
xxx, Sanna

Don´t forget to fly – June MMCC, Vol. 4

Hello there! Today I will share my last take on the June COLLAGE challenge over at the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog. There is still a little time to play along with us, so I hope you grab your tools and dig into your stash and get creative :).

This months challenge is a really fun one. It is about creating a collage of some kind and as an additional element you can use a frame. I´ve again created my kind of collage and first glued all kinds of paper/tape/ribbon pieces onto a piece of cardstock, then used a Tim Holtz butterfly die cut die to cut some butterflies out of that particular paper and then created a frame (again with a die cut die and my Big Shot). I´ve colored the frame with yellow and green spray ink and then stamped some circles with Finnabair stamps onto the background.

Next I outlined the frame with a black pen, then glued the frame with the butterflies onto the card base, added a stamped sentiment in the middle and finally some enamel dots.

It is a quite fast card to create, although there are so many bits and pieces in there. And the fun part is that you can use all kinds of residue paper pieces and old product to create the collage butteflies. I bet flowers would look cool this way too. Will need to try that out some time later. I´ve really enjoyed this moths challenge alot, hope you do too and join in with us! We love seeing your creations!!

See you at MMCC,
xxx, Sanna

(heart) you & don´t forget to fly – June MMCC, Vol. 3

Hello there, lovelies!!! Time for some more Mixed Media Card Challenge inspiration for the June challenge :).

Here are my two cards:

I have again glued bits and pieces of paper/ribbon and/or washi tape onto a piece of paper, then cut those into a „frame“ form with a die cut die. Next I added some additional layers using a The Crafter´s Workshop stencil with a silvery paste.

Both cards have the same frame form as a base. To the green-yellow toned card I also added some flowers from my stash, some additional enamel dots, a stamped and fussy cut butterfly as well as a stamped sentiment.

For the second card instead of adding flowers I just added a few stickers and enamel dots for decoration and then outlined both the frame and the card with a black pen.

I hope you will find time to play along with this months fun „COLLAGE“ challenge!!! As an optional element use a frame and when finished, go here and add your link! Hope to see you at MMCC,

xxxx, Sanna

Freedom – MMCC June challenge, Vol. 2

Hello there and happy Monday!! Time to share some more Mixed Media Card Challenge blog inspiration again. For this months challenge you need to create a COLLAGE and as an optional element you can add a FRAME. Just click the above picture to get to the challenge page for more information.

This is the second card I created:

I again used bits and pieces of paper, washi tape, ribbon and border stickers, added layers of ink/stamping and/or stenciled paste over the areas and then used my Big Shot to die cut some butterflies from those paper pieces. Finally I added some enamel dots for additional decoration and my card was done.

Then I went along and painted a watercolor background with a Tattered Angels (patina) Glimmer Mist onto the card base, added some rubber stamp images (stamps by Finnabair) and sentiments. After that I just glued the butterflies down onto the card base and cut the residues off.

I will be sharing some more cards I created for this challenge later on this month and I hope you will come back to take a look ;-).

Have fun creating,
